Cale was never really the type to go to bars. He'd been raised in an upper class family, and while he didn't see himself as being better than anyone, he just didn't do bars.
Which brought him to one of his favorite restaurants, nursing a glass of fine wine. He'd heard through the grapevine that Sydney was back in town. Well, not quite. He'd heard from Noelle that Sydney was thinking about coming back, and it honestly really hurt that Sydney hadn't said anything to him. He had no idea that Noelle lied, and that Sydney was actually back in town already.
He sent a helpless owl to his friend, Malcolm, needing someone to just commiserate with him. Maybe Sydney wasn't going to come back, and Noelle was just trying to give him hope. At what point did he let go?

Malcolm wasn't doing anything special at the time he received an owl from Cale. He had been friends with him for a while and knew about the situation with Sydney. Malcolm couldn't have nothing but respect for Cale for waiting on the woman for that long. He had more patience than anyone Malcolm knew.
Arriving at Galligan's, he looked around for his friend, only to see him with a glass of wine already. He smiled to the waitress and walked over to Cale. "Hey," he said taking a seat. Malcolm ordered a glass of wine for himself as the waitress came by, before he looked back to Cale. "Everything alright?"

Cale looked to the side, eyeing Malcolm as he joined Cale at the table. Mal had always been a good friend to him, and he tried to make it up to him every chance he got. Malcolm would already know that Cale would cover his drinks tonight, too.
"Hello, Mal." He leaned back in his seat and smiled, though it didn't quite reach his eyes. How could it? He hadn't heard from Sydney in ages. He wasn't going to jump straight into his problems, though. "How are you? How's the family? You had another dinner recently, didn't you?"

The smile Cale gave said a lot to Malcolm. He had known the man sitting in front of him long enough to know how to read him. As usual, they started off with something other than problems. Their conversations never started off with what was going wrong in their lives. They would talk about what was going on around them first.
"I'm good. The family dinner was interesting as always. Plus there was good food." Malcolm gave him a smile. "You need to come again sometime to a family dinner. You're always welcome to come whenever we have them." Malcolm considered Cale one of the family and his parents did as well.

"There's always good food when it comes to your family. Your parents Are definitely talented in a kitchen." He nodded his thanks for the invitation He used to go all the time, bit had increasingly grown onto more of a homebody.
"I guess they had to be though.... they had a lot of mouths to feed."
