Lost in thought

[Natalie St. Clare]

Natalie shrugged. "I'm almost 11. See, I don't actually go to school here yet. I'm only here because my sister goes here and my uncle teaches here. I was living with him until he left for some important business. Now Isabella and Voltaire are watching me until he comes back."

[Kris Lupin]

"Oh...at least you know the people taking care of you...I barely knew my moms friend." Kris sighed wishing her life was as simple as some think it is. Sometimes she wished that she was the one that had got bit instead of Remus.

[Natalie St. Clare]

"I'm sorry," Natalie said, because there honestly wasn't anything else she could say to the girl to make things any better. "You know, it might help you to get your mind off of it for a while and let him make the next move. You should get out, meet more people. Try to have some fun. Things will get easier."

[Kris Lupin]

Kris nodded, "Yeah..maybe if I do get more friends...or something...I'll get my mind off it." She did want friends but her mind was always on her brother and father.

[Natalie St. Clare]

"I haven't seen her around much lately, but maybe soon I'll introduce you to Rori," Natalie said. "She's very popular. Everyone loves Rori. If you're friends with her, you'll be popular and you'll be so busy you won't have time to worry about your problem, until Remus is ready to talk to you."

[Kris Lupin]

Kris grinned, "I'm not entirely sure I want to be popular...but it might be fun." She leaned back on the tree and tried to close her mind to the thought of Remus.

[Natalie St. Clare]

"Well, the best thing about Rori is not that she's popular. It's that she's really a nice person. She's not like that Lucius Malfoy jerk who's popular with the Slytherins just because he's rich and good-looking. Rori is popular because she's nice to people." Natalie leaned forward and looked out at the water quietly.

[Kris Lupin]

"Yes, he is a jerk. From what I can tell, I haven't met him. The thing about me is I am a jerk at times to...mainly to people that get on my nerves. I remember when I was little...before I came here and before what happened to my brother...this one girl kept bugging me about something, I don't remember what, but I got so annoyed that I started a fight with her and somehow she ended up with bright pink pigtails...and this fight had to be broke up by four men...having to hold me." Kris smiled at the memory.

[Natalie St. Clare]

"Sabrina can be that way," Natalie said. "But I don't fight with people. Actually, I hardly talk to people. Most people think I am strange. I can't help having these stupid powers. Anyway, it's easier to stay away from people, because then I don't have the visions."

[Kris Lupin]

"I don't think your strange...I think it's kool you have an extra power." Kris said then remembered something and smiled. "I remember I got grounded for two months because I got in a fight with a teenager. I tried to explain that he was throwing stuff at me because I was...different...after that I started to ignore people that bothered me."

[Natalie St. Clare]

"I wish I didn't have this power. I don't like seeing people's futures or knowing what they're thinking or feeling. It's good in some ways, because I know who I can trust. But it's bad in other ways, because I know too much that I shouldn't know." Natalie sighed. "When I met your brother, I could see what he was right away. And I could see how much it hurt him. He used to hate what he is, but he's starting to feel a bit better about it."

[Kris Lupin]

"I wouldn't mind knowing where I'll end up." Kris said. She hadn't really noticed that she had said it out loud. She started to ponder on what she would do if she did know.

[Natalie St. Clare]

"The funny thing is, I can't see any visions about myself. I can only see things about the people around me. And I'm glad I don't know. I told Sabrina that I saw a vision that she was going to be killed by the same person who killed our mother, and now, she's pushing everyone out of her life and suffering alone while she waits to die. You can't live like that. I wish I hadn't told her." Natalie's voice suddenly became very loud and tears burned in her eyes. "I wish I didn't know at all. Because I already miss her and she isn't even gone yet."

[Kris Lupin]

Kris didn't know what to say to the young girl. She hadn't even been in a spot like that before, she didn't want to say the wrong thing so she stayed quiet. Kris gave a side glance at her thinking that it must be hard on the girl.

[Natalie St. Clare]

"It's OK," Natalie said, sensing that Kris was feeling uncomfortable. "I don't expect an answer. I know it's not something most people can understand." She sighed to herself. "Anyway, that's why I sit up in that tree. It's safer there, away from the rest of the world."

[Kris Lupin]

"I wish I had a place like that...away from everyone and everything...I use to have a place like that, when I lived with my father and Remus." Kris stared at the ground, "I've thought about running away a time or two just to go back to that place."

[Natalie St. Clare]

"There are lots of places to hide around here. I found some good ones during the winter, when I couldn't be up in the tree. I could show them to you sometime and maybe you could hang out there when you need to hide from everyone," Natalie said.

[Kris Lupin]

"Thank's." Was all Kris knew to say, she couldn't think of anything to talk about.

[Natalie St. Clare]

"Well, I guess I should go inside now and see if I can find Sabrina. I need to talk some sense into her, because she's being dumb. Anyway, good luck," Natalie said. She stood up and hurried back toward the castle.
