Lost in thought

[Natalie St. Clare]

Natalie sat up in her tree, thinking about everything that was going on. In her talk with Uncle Alastor, she had felt a strong sense that he was keeping something from her--something very important. But she couldn't see what it was. It frustrated her, to have these powers, but yet, not be able to use them for things she really wanted to know. Why could she see the secrets of random strangers, but not see what her own uncle was keeping from her? She sighed to herself and looked out at the water.

[Kris Lupin]

Kris was once again thinking about Remus. She had told him who she was, but was shocked at how he was angry at her, and that he didn't believe her. She wasn't paying attention to where she was going.

[Natalie St. Clare]

Natalie saw a girl approaching the tree below her. She wasn't watching where she was going and was about to trip. "Be careful," she called down to the girl. Natalie hoped she wouldn't be freaked out by hearing a voice call out to her when she was so deep in her thoughts.

[Kris Lupin]

Kris stopped walking then looked around for who had spoke to her. Seeing no one Kris sat by the tree and went back to thinking about her brother. She knew he would take it hard...but getting angry at her? She hadn't really expected that, half of her wished she hadn't even told him.

Natalie watched the girl sit down under the tree. She could sense the strange thoughts coming from the girl. She was upset and hurt about something... no, someone. She closed her eyes and saw a scene by the Whomping Willow in the middle of the lawn. An argument... a boy walking away. Remus. Natalie decided to climb down and talk to the girl. "Hi," she said as she jumped down on the ground next to the girl.

Kris jumped slightly when the girl came out of nowhere. "Hi." She said absentmindedly still thinking about Remus. She stared at the ground starting to feel tears forming as she thought that she might have ruined her brothers life. How could she even think that he would just accept her?

[Natalie St. Clare]

"He'll be OK, eventually," Natalie said abruptly in her quiet voice. "He's just going through a lot right now." She knew the girl would be confused by what she said, but she had found that in situations like this, it was best to just reveal what she knew right away.

[Kris Lupin]

Kris looked at the girl confused, "Who are you talking about?" She could have known what she was thinking...could she? Kris shook the thought out of her head thinking that it was impossible. She shifted her eyes to the ground again.

[Natalie St. Clare]

"I'm sorry," Natalie said. "It's just that... sometimes I see things. Things that are happening, that are in motion. Things that are inside a person's heart. You know Remus, right?"

[Kris Lupin]

Kris nodded but didn't speak, she bit on her lower lip trying to keep the tears from coming. No matter how hard she was trying to stop them, a few tears slid down her cheeks. Kris didn't bother to whipe them away, she knew more would fall.

[Natalie St. Clare]

Natalie didn't say anything for a long moment as she tried to channel Remus's emotions. It was harder, because he wasn't near her at the time. Finally, she said. "He's just confused and hurt right now. Not just about you. About other things, too. For one thing, he just broke up with my sister. Oh, my name's Natalie, by the way."

[Kris Lupin]

"Kris. I know about the break up...I met her first...Sabrina I think..." Kris' voice trailed off as she thought about her father forcing her to leave the one person she swore to protect and be with. What a good job she has done so far, she didn't protect him from becoming a werewolf.

[Natalie St. Clare]

"Yeah, that's my sister," Natalie replied. "Look... what happened to him... it wasn't your fault. It's just what was meant to be. Try being in my shoes... seeing you parents die in a vision, and trying to warn them, only to have them not believe you and die anyway. The things I see... I can't prevent them. They still happen anyway."

[Kris Lupin]

"My life hasn't been a picnic either!" Kris snapped at the girl. Being forced to live with someone she barely knew, having to stay out of her brothers life. Everything was fine until that...that...monster attacked her little brother. Kris glared down at the grass, if only she had been there, she might have been able to save him from being turned into a werewolf.

[Natalie St. Clare]

"You don't have to get mad at me," Natalie said calmly. "And you shouldn't blame yourself for what happened to him. It wasn't your fault. If you have been there, you would have been killed. Sometimes things, even horrible things, are just meant to happen."

[Kris Lupin]

"I never should have told him..." Kris muttered. She was surprised that she did feel that way. His life was fine before she messed everything up for him by telling him.

[Natalie St. Clare]

"It'll be better eventually. He was already going through a lot when you told him. The timing just wasn't good. Give him time," Natalie said.

[Kris Lupin]

Kris sighed, "My timing is never right." Maybe she should have just continued to stay out of his life. Maybe she should have listened to her father, he did tell her to wait until he was old enough to handle it.

[Natalie St. Clare]

"He'll get through it. He's going to need all the support he can get soon, so don't give up on him. It'll be OK," Natalie said. "I know it all sounds weird... having this girl you don't even know telling you these things about your own brother. But trust me, OK? The time is coming when he will need you."

[Kris Lupin]

"How old are you? I'm just wondering...sorry if it's too personal." Kris said changing the subject. She didn't feel like talking about her brother at that moment. Although she was starting to think about how angry he was. It had hurt when he had called her a lier.
