If he was going to pretend that everything was normal, who was she to just tell him that everything wasn't normal? If he wanted to talk about it, she was there, but Alison had a feeling that he wasn't really going to talk about it. He was just going to attempt to act as if nothing ever happened. She didn't really want to pull down the curtain at the moment and show that he wasn't alright.
Alison smiled as she returned his bow with a quick curtsy. Dancing was something that made her unwind and forget what was going on outside of the small bubble she was in. She placed her hands on his shoulders and moved with him. Maybe now, dancing could make what happened just fade away, even if it was for a short amount of time.

Maybe she was what he'd needed all along. He felt good in her arms, almost like he was home. It was weird, because he'd technically been home for a few days now, but now was the first time he actually felt it. He pulled her closer and closed his eyes, relaxing into the dance. He felt a little like they were floating. Maybe if he could just stay here with her like this, then all the pain would just.... vanish.
He looked up at her, and the pain in his eyes was showing for the first time since she'd arrived. "I missed you," he said softly.

Once he pulled her closer, Alison rested her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes. It was starting to feel like nothing had really happened. It was quiet and comforting. Geoffrey was relaxed and moving slowly. A light smile had formed on her face and she took in his scent.
Whenever she felt him move, Alison moved her head from his shoulder. The pain was completely evident, and it made her want to steal it away. She moved her hands up to the back of his neck as she rested her forehead against his. "I've missed you too," she replied back just as softly.

They stayed that way for a few minutes, dancing slowly with their foreheads pressed together. It felt strangely intimate and intense, and they weren't actually doing anything. It was just.... the closeness. It was almost too much, and he was starting to feel nervous again. He wanted to pull away, to tell her to go. But there was a stronger urge, and that was the urge to stay exactly where he was. He didn't break until his lips began to ache for hers, and he moved in for a deep, desperate kiss.

Alison closed her eyes for a few seconds as they moved slowly. It almost felt like the rest of the world vanished for those few short moments. Whenever she opened her eyes again and focused on Geoffrey, she didn't really know what she saw in his eyes.
She was a little surprised whenever he moved in to kiss her. She wasn't expecting the desperation but after a quick second of regaining thought, she returned his kiss. Her hands were still around his neck. To Alison, the kiss felt different than any other they had shared.
Once she felt like she had to take a breath, Alison pulled away and rested her forehead against his again.

He closed his eyes and breathed deeply, focusing on nothing but the feel of her in his arms and her breath on his face. If he concentrated hard enough, he could shut out the sound of the music and concentrate on the beating of her heart. For a few minutes, everything felt right and perfect. Not normal.... it was better than normal. He wished he could freeze this moment, or bottle the feeling, so he could experience it again. Right now, he could forget everything... the pain, the fear, the doubt, the icy pain in his chest.... and just be himself.
"I'm really glad you came over today, Alison," he whispered.

She could tell that he was a lot more relaxed than he had been whenever she first arrived. Geoffrey had gone through more than enough and to see him somewhat at ease at least for a few minutes, made Alison feel her visit was well worth it.
"Good," she said with a light smile on her face, "because that means I'll be back tomorrow if you're not doing anything special and we can do this again." Alison didn't care how many times, or how long they were like this, as long as he was feeling better than what he had been.

What he really needed to do was tell her everything. To unburden his soul to her and let her carry some of the terrible weight that was pushing down on him. And yet, he couldn't do that to her. It was too much, too hard, too soon. So he said nothing and just held her. Maybe eventually he would be able to tell her, but not yet.
Instead he smiled lightly. "I'd like that," he replied, his tone sounding a little heavier than his expression would have suggested. "And I'll make sure I clear my busy schedule."

Alison wanted him to talk to her, tell her what was going on but she wasn't going to force him to tell her anything. She wouldn't have cared if she helped him carry his burden. Helping people was something she wanted and liked to do whenever they needed it, it didn't matter who they were.
She let out a short laugh. "I'm glad that you can pencil me in," she said in a light teasing manner. "And tomorrow, maybe I can bring you a couple more comic books. I can stop by there before I make my way here."

"That would be great," Geoffrey said, his smile already getting brighter. Just the idea of seeing her all the time... it helped more than he could have imagined. He needed her, and for the first time he was not afraid to admit it. Not that he actually admitted it to her...
"Hey, you know what? If you come early tomorrow night, maybe I can have the cook prepare us a special dinner and serve it in here. Just for the two of us. How does that sound?"

"I believe I can make my schedule flexible enough to come early," Alison said with the light teasing still evident in her voice. "I can leave work a little earlier than usual. I don't believe that will be a problem." She was looking forward to tomorrow night. Seeing his smile brighten mad her feel even more giddy inside. If he wanted her to, she would have even taken a whole day off. Although, Alison wasn't going to propose that idea because she didn't want him to think she was rushing anything.

"I can't wait," Geoffrey said honestly. He was quite sure that he would spend the whole day tomorrow looking forward to when she would get there. But it was good to finally have something to look forward to and be excited about.
"How about if you get here around 5? I'll ask cook to make something good, and we can set up a movie in here and we can watch and eat and talk... make a night of it."

"I'm looking forward to tomorrow too," Alison admitted.
"Around 5, I can do that." It wouldn't hurt if she left work early. She would leave early enough so that she would have enough time to run by the magazine stand and then go home and change. Hopefully tomorrow the time wouldn't just tick by slowly. "And a movie, eating, and talking, sounds like a plan."

It was weird; he was actually so excited about the idea of seeing her tomorrow that he wanted her to leave now so that tomorrow would come sooner. What kind of sense did that make?
Instead of asking her to leave, however, he smiled and brushed a hand lightly across her cheek. Then, without a word, he moved in closer, pressing his lips to hers in a long, breathless kiss. There was something healing in her kiss, if only he could let go. He wanted to, but there was still a part of him that was holding back.

Alison was unsure how she was supposed to help other than just doing whatever felt natural. Whenever she had to go help someone on her job, Alison knew exactly what she was doing. There were no uncertainties then, but now there was a level of uncertainty. Was what she thought was helping just pushing away or was it actually doing any good? She couldn't let Geoffrey know that she was a little unsure.
She returned his smile and couldn't help a light pink tint rising to her cheeks. Once he kissed her, the uncertainty left for the time being and her eyes closed as she leaned into him.

(I figure we can finish up this thread... then do you want to do another? Or should we wait until after "Icky?")
The kiss seemed to last forever. But in a good way. For a few minutes, it was like he wasn't sure where he ended and she began. Everything was absolutely perfect.
Finally, he pulled away, but he didn't want to. But if he kissed her much longer, then he would want her to stay the night, and it was too soon for that. He didn't want to move too fast with her; he still had a lot of healing to do before he could take that kind of step. And their relationship was still too new, too fragile. He didn't want to push things.
"That was.... well, it was pretty great," he said softly. "Thanks again for coming tonight."

(We can wait until after "Icky"... I should probably reply to that... lol)
She didn't want to pull away either. Alison smiled lightly when she focused back on him. "Yeah," she said in a light whisper. "You don't have to thank me." She felt giddy inside. That kiss made her fall for him a little more.
Alison let out a sigh. "I guess I should be going before it gets too late," she said. "I'll be sure to be here tomorrow at 5."

Geoffrey smiled, but there was an ache in his chest, and he realized that he already missed her, even though she wasn't gone yet. "I'll be counting the minutes," he said. It was even almost true.
Taking her hand, he led her out of the room and walked her to the door. "Have a good day at work tomorrow, OK? And I'll see you tomorrow."

Alison returned his smile and followed him toward the door. "I will, hopefully. You have a good day tomorrow too." She had a feeling that tomorrow was probably going to drag by. It was usually how it happened when she was excited about something. Time seemed to slow down but hopefully it wouldn't do that tomorrow.
She leaned up and kissed his cheek. "Good night Geoff. See you tomorrow," said Alison as she made her way out the door.
