Marlene had finally accepted that, despite his bold declaration of love, nothing was ever going to happen with Kingsley. Since the attack, he had changed, and become distant. Even when he was there, it seemed like he just wasn't there. She missed him, but it was time to move on. Not that she was currently thinking about having a new relationship. No, the whole experience had convinced Marlene that love just wasn't for her.
It was a rainy Saturday afternoon, and Marlene was spending it in the library. This was hardly unusual for her, of course. She was practically walled in by the number of books she was looking through for her Defense Against the Dark Arts paper, which wasn't even due for another two weeks.
"Darn," she mumbled aloud as she realized she was missing a necessary book. She got up from her seat and headed toward the shelves, not really paying attention to where she was going.

Logan bumped into someone as he was trying to read a book and walk at the same time. He dropped the book and imediately apologized as a reflex. He looked up and smiled warmly at the girl before him. "I'm sorry. I should have been watching. I just have to get this report done." He said and swooped down to pick up a book. The same book she in fact needed to finish her Defense Against the Dark Arts report. He smiled his signature, charming grin at her and tilted his head. "Have we met?" He asked curiously.

Marlene blinked at him for a moment, feeling somewhat disoriented. She must have been working here longer than she'd realized, because it came as something of a surprise to her that there were other people around.
"No... no, it's OK," she replied with an uncertain smile. "I wasn't exactly paying attention to what I was doing, either. I think maybe I've been working too hard."
It would have been impossible for her not to notice that he had a nice smile. Still, she keep her feelings detached, making note of the fact as plainly as she would notice a bird flying by or a flower poking through the snow. "I don't think we've met. I'm Marlene."

Logan smiled his signature, charming smile and held out his hand in a polite gesture. "Well, then. Marlene. I'm Logan. It's very nice to meet you." He greeted in a playfull tone.
"What are you working on?" He questioned, genuinely curious. He thought it'd be funny if they were there for the same report.

Marlene, on the other hand, wasn't feeling particularly charming at the moment. She'd been working for quite a while, and she had a bit of a headache. She ran her hands through her hair tiredly, smoothing out a few curls that had twisted out of place.
"Oh, I'm working on the Defense Against the Dark Arts paper. I know it's early, but I never did believe in procrastinating. How about you?"
