Gina often met Victor in one of the seedy little pubs in Knockturn Alley after one of them was finished doing whatever they filled their day with. She enjoyed it, where they would meet and have a drink, and then go back to his place. It was really their place, but she felt like it was his. There was a certain sense of protection in thinking of it as just his.
She passed over the Rusty Nail, as she sort of despised the place, and went into a smaller little pub, ordering two firewhiskeys and taking them to the usual table in the back.
There, she leaned back in her seat, crossing one long leg over the other, and looked out the grimy window like she owned the place.
((OOC... it was short for a start of a thread, but... lol))

Victor always looked forward to his evenings. He could simply unwind in Gina's company. So far, the day seemed to have slowed down and it had become boring. So far, there was hardly anything to do. Victor piddled around Borgin and Burke's for a little while. A few new items were in and it was worth checking out. If he ever needed anything, the oldest Borgin boy never displeased him.
He reached one of the smaller pubs in Knockturn Alley. The place was hardly ever full and that was to Victor's liking. Strolling in like he owned the place, he didn't even acknowledge the bartender as he made a beeline to the regular table where the tall brunette was waiting.
A crooked smile crossed his lips. "Evening love," he said taking his chair.

Gina was almost lazy in the way she turned her head from the window to look at Victor as he sat down across from her. While she acted reserved, even almost distant, there was a fondness in her eyes as she smiled at him. She loved her evenings with him more than she would ever admit. They demanded nothing of each other, expected very little, and just accepted each other for what they were.
"Evening, Victor," she replied, leaning forward, her posture adopting a less strict feeling to it. She slid his glass of firewhiskey to him. "I took the liberty of getting your drink. How was your day?" That question was probably the most domestic she would ever sound, but it worked for her and Victor.

"I trust your choices," he said taking the glass. Victor's trust was hard to gain. He didn't trust more than half the people that worked with him. The only people he really trusted was himself, the Dark Lord, and Gina. Even though he trusted Gina, sometimes he wondered if she trusted him. She hadn't done anything that made it appear she didn't but there were times he couldn't help but wonder.
"Uneventful," he responded before taking a drink and letting the liquid burn down his throat. "How was yours?"

"Better now," Gina replied, and while it may have been a disgustingly sweet sentiment from most couples, it was just something casual that Gina said. The truth was, she did feel a little better when she saw Victor at the end of the day. They had come to be comfortable with each other, if nothing else. He was her best friend. Still, she was under no misconceptions that if he needed to, he wouldn't throw her under the bus, as the muggles said.
"It was good," she said, taking a sip of her drink, her eyes on Victor. "But equally uneventful. Although, I did see your brother's bride in Hogsmeade, today."

While Gina's comment would have been sweet with most couples, he was used to hearing it. He would be lying if he said that he didn't enjoy the fact that he could make her day better, but he wouldn't admit it. It was just a common comment between the two and Victor could just shrug it off.
He picked up his glass before he acknowledged her response. "Maybe we should spice the rest of the day, just so we don't have to say the entire day was uneventful." There was a trace of a smirk on Victor's lips just as he put the glass to his mouth and took a sip. At the mention of seeing his brother's bride, he couldn't help but roll his eyes and give a scoff once his glass touched the table again. "Let me guess, she was overly excited about whatever it was she was doing?" Victor didn't like his brother, that was pretty obvious. Growing up, he would always try to give Vincent hell as much as he could. Victor always wanted to be the better twin, but apparently Vincent thought he was better and ended up with getting Minister of Magic. It bothered Victor more than he would ever admit.

That smirk made her smile in turn, and Gina leaned forward, her elbows resting on the table. "I wouldn't mind a little spice," she replied, knowing that whatever Victor had in mind would be okay with her.
"I wasn't paying that much attention to her. But she's too cute and bubbly. One of the types that would give me a headache too early in the morning. She does look rather happy and excited, though." She wondered, briefly, if Victor ever wished he had a better relationship with Vincent. He'd missed his brother's wedding, after all. Was there ever a time when differences should be put aside?
"I don't think it will last, though."

Talking about his brother and his wife messed up the type of mood Victor had been in. "They're supposed to be having a baby," he said with as much disinterest in the fact that his brother was going to become a father, as much as he could muster up. Again, Victor had another reason to be jealous of his brother. Vincent had been able to settle down and led a decent life. Victor on the other hand, served the Dark Lord, and while he did have Gina, he knew that she would probably just leave him if it was more beneficial to her. Of course, children were completely out of the picture.
"And why do you say that you don't think it will last," Victor asked interested as he leaned forward.

Gina needed to be careful answering that question. Despite the fact that Victor wasn't on good terms with his brother, certain things could still set of a defensive chord in him. Must have been in the blood.
"Many reasons. I imagine he's under a lot of stress, which I'm sure she doesn't like. And babies complicate things. I just don't see it lasting."
But mostly, she'd only said it because she thought it was what he wanted to hear.
"Come on... let's talk about other things. I missed you today and don't want to waste our time on your brother."

Victor was going to say something else about his brother but Gina wanted to talk about other things. If he was honest, Gina might have been the death of him if he really let her. It was actually sort of sad, but obviously Victor was never going to admit that.
"He does waste time but we have better things we can do." He gave Gina a smirk. Hearing that she missed him make him feel a little better. "I think we can let off more stress and just relax when we get back, don't you?"

Gina, leaning forward at the table, gave Victor an honest little smile. "I imagine we can. We could both use a little relaxation, right?"
Their relationship was a strange one. They were both in it out of selfish needs, but Gina did have a fondness for Victor. She never wanted to settle down with him, of course, and she was well aware that the day may come when they no longer had use for each other. She would admit, though, that she would be a little sad when that day came.
"You look tired. We can go now, if you'd rather."
