Angelique was still reeling from the revelation that Roland had been alive all this time. But when she left the hospital, she had a lot of business to take care of. There were a lot of loose ends, beginning with the recovery of Blake Malfoy's body.
She went straight back to the Ministry and sent a Patronus to the Leviner brothers, asking them to meet her at the office. The whole thing felt eerily similar, only in reverse. Just a little over two months ago, she had done the exact same thing, only then it was to tell them of Roland's death. Now it was to tell them that he was alive. Whenever she thought of that night, she felt a little spark of anger again. Riley had seemed genuinely distressed that night... but it had all been a lie.
Shaking her head, Angelique sat down to wait for the brothers to arrive.

Sean felt bad for Angelique. She was still pretty new to the post, and she was dealing with some pretty heavy things. One of her Aurors dying, another getting attacked right in the Ministry, then disappearing.
And now she was calling them again. Sean almost hated to know what had happened this time.
He waited for Dan to be ready, and then they both headed down to the Auror Department. When he saw Angelique, he nodded his head in greeting. "All right... talk to us."

Angelique was exhausted. She had decided that, the first chance she got, she was going to take a vacation. Somewhere exotic and relaxing, where she wouldn't have to do anything at all except lie on the beach and drink fruity drinks. The Greek isles, maybe, or somewhere in the Carribbean.
As Sean and Dan arrived, she got to her feet. "You guys might want to have a seat for this one," she said, her lips twisting in a wry grin.

Following Sean to the Auror's Office, he raised his eyebrows at Angelique. This situation was pretty ironic. The last time they were called by her for some news was that they had to go to the warehouse where an auror was supposed to have died. They never found the body and it had Daniel still puzzled.
Taking a seat, he looked up to Angelique. "What is it?"

Angelique almost laughed. It really was sort of funny... they were so used to getting bad news at this point, that she was sure they wouldn't know what to do when she gave them good news. And as angry as she was, it was still definitely good news. Riley was safe, Roland was alive... it was like the smooth part at the end of a roller coaster. She felt relieved and happy, but exhausted by all the twists and turns that led up to it.
"Well, for starters," she began, "you can call off the search for Riley Neves. She's fine, and she's safe. She's in St. Mungo's right now, but the doctors assure me she's going to be fine."

She was laughing? Daniel didn't know what to think about the entire situation. They got good news, which was a good thing. Dan was glad that Riley was alive and safe but that still didn't explain the laughter.
He glanced toward Sean then back at Angelique. Calling off the search was no problem and he was more than happy to but there was another question that was starting to form in his mind. "If you don't mind my asking, did you find her or did she come on her own?"

For starters.... Sean repeated this in mind, and while he wanted to know the question that Dan asked as well, he was also curious what else there was.
"All right, what else do you have for us? And why was she in the hospital? Was she attacked again?" He stopped there, not wanted to overload her with questions, but they needed to know, especially is they were calling off the search. And more than that... where had she been?

Angelique looked from one brother to the other, trying to decide which questions to answer first. Sean had already picked up on the fact that there was more to the story, and she gave him a light smile.
"She came back on her own. She went to Ted and Hayden to ask them for help in going after the man who supposedly killed Roland. There was a battle, and Riley was injured. Blake Malfoy was killed... by Roland himself. It turns out he didn't die... he's been alive the whole time. He also suffered some minor injuries and is recuperating in St. Mungo's."

Angelique wasn't kidding when she said that they may have wanted to sit down for the news, of course Dan never knew this woman to kid any of the times he spoke to her.
Again, he looked to his brother his expression asking 'what the hell'. Turning back, he didn't voice the question his face asked. "So, Roland is alive," he repeated. "Of course, that explains why we never found his body." Dan ran a hand over his face, trying to wrap his mind around the news.
He didn't know what else to say or ask except for, "Well, how do you want us to handle this? Just tell the other MLE that Riley had to take some time on her own and now she's back and safe?"

Sean shook his head, almost smiling. He remembered all those conversations he had with Lydia... he'd been right all along. Sean never really believed that Roland was dead, but he'd been so unsure in these thoughts that he never voiced them to Daniel. And of course there were things he couldn't explain away, but Roland's death didn't answer every question, either.
He nodded at Angelique, and then his brother. Dan had a point... this wasn't news that they could spread. Death Eaters would be all over Roland and Riley if they knew...
"Did they plan this?" he asked suddenly, referring to the two Aurors.

Angelique sighed and looked carefully at him. "Off the record? Yes. But this information cannot leave this room. They may had done this against Ministry policy, but it's the reputation of the Ministry that will suffer. There will be a cover story, which I'm going to arrange, that will explain where he's been all this time, and that will be the official story. Meanwhile, I think I'm going to give them both a suspension, for a week or two, at least. You can tell the rest of the MLE that Riley went off on her own to do some investigating and found Roland alive, and that they went off to face the killer together, along with two other Aurors. That will be the official story, at least where Riley is concerned. The killing was in self defense."

Sean nodded. He liked Angelique, and he wasn't pushy, so he was satisfied to give half truths if it kept everyone involved safe. "Not a problem. But Ferrera was our case too... we're going to need a cover story for him as well. And soon. In fact... it would be wise for us to have a cover story before the public finds out he's back. I assume the hospital staff know to keep him quiet for now?"
There were a lot of logistics to work out, but Angelique had obviously thought this through. He and Dan could follow her lead easily.

Angelique nodded again. "I'll be working out the cover story. I'm going to say something about him being in a muggle hospital in a coma after his injuries, but I'm going to need to make some... arrangements... to make sure that if someone tries to verify this, it won't unravel." She let out a sigh, indicating that she wasn't exactly happy about having to do this.
"Meanwhile, what I need you guys to do right now is recover Blake Malfoy's body and transport it to St. Mungo's. He's at the warehouses.... the same ones where Roland was supposed to have died. If you could go ahead and do that, then come back here, I should have the story set up for you."

One of the good things about the Leviner's was that they knew how to keep their mouth closed and follow what they were supposed to be doing. "We won't have a problem going with the story. If you need us to help you with anything else, let us know, we'll be happy to help."
Daniel looked to Sean. "Ready to go?" He was happy that Roland's story ended up being pretty much a happy ending, or well a new beginning in his case, rather than his family having to continue to wonder whatever happened to his body.
