After Roland's death, Amandine put it upon herself to take care of her family. Cyrus, she believed, was going to be fine, he and Lina were doing better, and they had each other. And as far as Ama knew, her parents were fine. That left Jamie, who hadn't really spoken since they heard about Roland's death. So Ama decided to go find him, and help him grieve.
"Jamie?" Ama called as she entered the common room. Lucliky for her, hardly anyone was there, but she did find Jamie reading over by the fire place. "Jamie, can we talk?" She asked her brother sympathetically.

Jamie was engrossed completely by the book. Although it was much like every other plot line, he had a fascination with seeing if he could guess what the hero's next move would be. Not only did it take his mind off of everything that had happened recently, it also gave the illusion that he wasn't to be bothered. So far, everyone that had entered the room had let him be. He was grateful.
Amandine's voice woke him from the main character entering a dense fog. He mentally cringed, knowing what Amandine wanted to talk about. He had no intention of hearing his eldest brother's name, much less having an entire conversation about it. Jamie set the book down gentley, and gave her a glance before looking at the window. He was listening.

Ama put her arms across her chest resisting rolling her eyes. Jamie couldn't even look at her? This was a serious matter and to Ama, Jamie was acting sort of childish.
"Jamie, it's important," Ama said, hoping it would cause her brother to turn around. It didn't. "It's about Roland," again, nothing. "Jamie you can't just keep this all bottled up inside! you need to talk to someone!" Talk, being the key word in the situation.
"Now," Ama continued, calming her voice down and sounding a lot like her mother. "I know you may not want to talk to me, but maybe Scarlette? Or Noah even?" She placed her hand on her brother's shoulder and walked in front of him, making hi look her in the eye. "You need to grieve." she deadpanned.

Jamie had no intention of saying anything. With each sentence, Amandine was making Jamie angrier than before the whole situation had occcured. He hadn't much of anything to anyone since January first. In his mind, he didn't need to grieve. Jamie hadn't known Roland as well as Amandine or Cyrus had. Everytime he thought about the funeral or Scarlette, his apetite left him. He hadn't seen Scarlette since the night of the Yule Ball, and he couldn't seem to get out of bed to make an attempt.
Jamie's weight had dropped to considerabley unhealthy number, and he had gone even paler than he had been. Dark circles had seemed to form permanent marks under his bloodshot eyes. Amandine looked a little better off than he did, but not by much.
Each name caused Jamie to slowly look in her direction. Scarlette was a definate not, and Noah didn't have any idea what was really going on. Blake had kept Noah and Axel from the funeral, and Jamie was glad. When Amandine finally came out with her point, that he needed to grieve, Jamie gave a small laugh.
"No."

"No?" Ama asked. She was beginning to get frusterated now. "Well why the hell not? Jamie, have you even seen yourself lately?" She gestured to her brother, who looked even skinnier than normal and also very tired. "I don't care what you think about the situation Jamie, but you're not okay." She sat in the chair across from her brother. "Why won't you talk to me?"

He was still ever so slightly amused at his sister's approach to his behavior. It was so direct and childlike that Jamie couldn't hold bcak a slightly cruel smile. He managed to return to his normal stone like position, sitting straight up. His eyes focused directly onto Amandine's, and it was quite obvious she hadn't 'finished her grieving' as well.
Jamie wanted to sit and explain extensively that the grieving process couldn't just be started, and if he was expected to just sit there and discuss their eldest brother, than she could go talk to Cyrus. But Jamie knew everything he was doing was completely out of character. He was acting like a child himself, getting angry at his sister when she was trying to help.
"I'm fine," he said affirmatively. Jamie was under the impression he was indeed fine. All he wanted to do was sort out some things in his mind.

"No. You're not," Ama said. She was acting childish for thinking she could tell Jamie how he was feeling. She wasn't even sure she knew WHY she was arguing with him. Maybe, somewhere in her mind, she thought that if she just got a rise out of him, if her brother said more than 2 words to her, somehow that would mean he's okay. "You're not okay Jamie Ferrera." She said calmly. Why couldn't everyone just grieve like she had done with her father, the day they were told Roland was dead. She hadn't cried since, because she knew that she had come to terms with it.
Jamie hadn't.

Jamie was still amused. "Oh, you dictate my feelings to me now?"
He didn't care that he wasn't fine. In fact, he was almost grateful that Amandine was confronting him, it was the only source of somewhat happiness he had felt in a long time. She was concerned about him, and that made complete sense. Jamie would have done the same thing, except with a little less directness.

"I do when it's obvious you're unaware of what's going on with you." Ama replied. "Jamie, you're my big brother, and I adore you. I don't want you to let what happened to Roland hurt you," Ama said. Translation, she didn't want to loose Jamie either.

Jamie rolled his eyes, something he had never done before with Amandine. It was completely out of character for him, but he didn't want to be told what to do by his little sister. Of course he was going to be hurt by what happened to Roland, but he was fine now, wasn't he? Amandine was overexaggerating. She wasn't the perfect example of returning to normal after everything.

Ama raised her eyebrows when Jamie rolled his eyes. She knew everyonce and a while, she bugged him, but he had never rolled his eyes at her before. It made her angry.
"You know what?" Amandine's voice rose. "Nevermind. Go ahead and sulk all by your lonesome and see if I give a damn!" And she turned on her heals and began to storm off.

Jamie raised his eyebrows at her outburst, but just crossed his arms continued to look at the book on his lap. He couldn't remember the title of the story, nor the main characters names. It was a terrible distraction from his thoughts, and Jamie knew he couldn't concentrate on it enough to stop from thinking about how his family wasn't as close as it was.
Jamie didn't stop Amandine from walking away. He didn't want to think about it.

It was probably a good thing Jamie didn't try and stop her, cause Ama was at the point where she may have hexed him if he tried. Instead, she stormed out of the common room and into the hall of Ravenclaw tower. She didn't know where she wanted to go, she just needed to blow off some steam. She began heading down the tower when she ran into a very solid body.
"Sorry Dillon," she said quietly before trying to pass him.

Dillon was walking up to the tower flipping through his last charms test when someone ran into him. He looked up and heard Amandine's voice. He blinked, he hadn't seen her since the Yule Ball and he knew her brother had died. She looked really upset. She apologized for running into him, "it's okay-hey" he said grabbing on to her hand as she tried to keep walking. "What's wrong," he asked looking at her with concern on his face. He had wanted to talk to her about her brother, he was sure she needed someone but he didn't know how to approach the situation. Not to mention he hadn't seen her till just now.

He gently stopped her from passing, and she stood still, looking up to Dillon and trying her best not to cry/ "It's nothing really..." she started. But that wasn't true, and she wanted to be honest with Dillon, she had no reason not to. "It's Jamie. He's being a complete arce and I'm sick of it!" she said, her temper rising. "I just want to talk to my brother, Jamie is one of my closest friends AND my brother and I'm worried about him and..." she couldn't say anymore, since the tears started to fall and Ama began to shake.

Dillon listened to her as she told him about Jamie and he understood what it was like to have an older brother for a best friend. He wanted to help her but he couldn't imagine what she was going through. When she cut off mid sentence he just grabbed her and pulled her aside into a little cove area where no one was at that time so she wouldn't have to deal with the other people walking by. Then he just hugged her dropping his charms test, it could wait.

She felt ridiculous, bursting to tears in the middle of the hallway. Hadn't she done this already? Hadn't she already cried enough, back in Roland's old bedroom at home, sitting on the floor with her father? Ama was thankful that Dillon had pulled her to the side, and when he hugged her she felt a rush of relief. Maybe she should take the advice she had shouted at Jamie. That Ama herself wasn't done grieving yet either.
"I'm sorry I just dumped that on you Dillon..." Ama said as she began to calm down.

Dillon heard her say sorry and he shook his head. "Don't apologize, there is nothing to be sorry for" he said hugging her a little tighter before letting go. He saw that the tears were slowing a little and that she was starting to calm down a bit. He sat down on the floor by a window and motioned for her to sit beside him. "Come on lets talk," he said readjusting his glasses. He was hoping that maybe he could be some help to her through this rough time.

"Jamie and I never fight..." Ama said. She walked over to Dillon and sat next to him. "And then today it was like some bomb went off!" She thought back to their argument again. "I don't even think he even said six words the whole time and I just blew up at him." Ama shook her head and placed it in her hands. "Why did I do that? Why did I yell at him?"

Dillon listened as she talked and he felt sincerely sorry for her situation. When she put her head in her hands he put his arm around her. "It's okay," he said trying to make her feel better. "I'm sure he expects you to be upset. He will forgive you I promise, brothers always forgive." He said with a nod. "After everything calms down a bit it will be like nothing ever happened."
