Watching the world go by

[Kris Lupin]

Kris smiled. "I'm sure he is, I just wouldn't know how to start a conversation with him." She continued to stare at the water then the rest of what she had said made her look at the girl confused. "You seem a little young to be dying."

[Sabrina St. Clare]

"Well, I'm not sick or anything. It's just... Oh, you wouldn't believe me if I told you." Sabrina sighed. "I just know that the person who killed my mother is going to kill me. And I just don't want Remus to be sad when I'm gone... Maybe if he knows he has a sister, it'll be easier for him."

[Kris Lupin]

"Maybe...but what if he gets mad at me for not being around? And for not telling him sooner or anything?" Kris asked looking back at the water while trying not to imagine him being angry with her. "I don't want him to be mad at me." She added in a whisper.

[Sabrina St. Clare]

"Well, it wasn't your fault you weren't around, was it?" Sabrina said. "I'm sure he'll see that. He might be mad if you didn't tell him right away, but I think he'd get over it after he realized that you waited because you didn't want to do it too bluntly."

[Kris Lupin]

"Yeah, I hope your right. I just don't know when I should try and talk to him." Kris said look ing at her then added, "When do you think I should?" She bit her lower lip waiting for her to reply.

[Sabrina St. Clare]

"I don't know," Sabrina said. "Just.. whenever you see him and he's not busy, I guess. He hangs around James Potter a lot, that is... when he wasn't hanging out with me. Although... sometimes he disappears for a couple of days and I don't know why..." She shrugged. "But I think you should do it soon."

[Kris Lupin]

Kris nodded, "Yeah, but I don't know how soon." She looked back at the water and fell silent, thinking of a way to talk to him. She knew she shouldn't tell him about her being his sister too soon or bluntly. She also knew that she didn't want him to be angry with her.

[Sabrina St. Clare]

Sabrina shrugged. "I think you'll know. Once you start talking to him, it'll be easy. I'd introduce you to him myself, but since we just broke up, we're not exactly talking."

[Kris Lupin]

"I understand." Kris smiled slightly as she continued to stare at the water. She hoped that the girl was right about him not getting mad at her. "I can't really say I know how it is but I do understand."

[Sabrina St. Clare]

"How long have you been here? I don't think I've ever seen you before," Sabrina said. She shifted so that she was lying on her side in the grass and stared down at an ant crawling up a blade of grass. It felt sort of good not to be thinking about her own problems for a change. After all, what did it matter? If she really was going to die, then her problems were really meaningless, weren't they? But if she could help Remus find his sister... then maybe she would have done something worthwhile.

[Kris Lupin]

"I've been...around...lost in my own world thinking about what I should do when I tell Remus about me. Like if I should get him back presents...like the presents I should have gotten him on his birthdays and on Christmas' that I missed...or something to show that I'm sorry for not being there." Kris shrugged.

[Sabrina St. Clare]

"I don't think you want to give him everything right away," Sabrina said. "He won't have anything for you and it might be weird for him. I think... just knowing he's not alone will be enough of a gift for him right now."

[Kris Lupin]

"Yeah...I just feel bad for not being there, you know? I wanted to be there but I couldn't...but I can be there now...it's not like I'm being forced to stay out of his life forever, right?" Kris stared at the water wishing there was an easy way in life.

[Sabrina St. Clare]

"I just don't understand why you were taken away," Sabrina said. "Were you living with another family member or something? Why wouldn't they want you to be with him?"

(Note: Sabrina does not know he's a werewolf.)

[Kris Lupin]

Does she not know? Well if Remus didn't tell her then Kris didn't think she should. "Oh...um...well it's kind of a family secret...something I don't have the authority to tell." Kris looked at her and added, "I hope you understand."

[Sabrina St. Clare]

"I know about family secrets," Sabrina said. "My sister... she has a secret, too." She looked over at the girl. Who had the secret? Was it her, or was it Remus? If she didn't have the authority to tell... it was probably Remus. Sabrina vaguely remembered Remus saying something about a secret, but he hadn't explained. "Is something wrong with Remus?"

[Kris Lupin]

Kris bit her lower lip. "Er...in a way...yes." She quickly added, "I can't say anymore about it...if I tell he really would be mad at me." She hoped that she would understand and wouldn't ask her to tell.

[Sabrina St. Clare]

Sabrina sighed. "I won't ask you, but I guess I'm a little hurt that he wouldn't tell me the truth. I mean, sure, I didn't tell him why I was breaking up with him, but he wouldn't have understood. But after what he said to me to talk me out of breaking up with him... I can't believe he wouldn't tell me."

[Kris Lupin]

"He probably thought you would have left him if he told you. I doubt his friends even know...I mean I only know because it's the reason I was forced to leave." Kris smiled as she remembered how she got her father to tell her. "I almost didn't know why I was leaving until I threw a hissyfit. I did the works I held my breath threw things...almost passed out before my father told me the truth." She paused, "Know that I think of it..it was a bit childish."

[Sabrina St. Clare]

"Well, you must have been pretty young," Sabrina said. "I guess it's natural." She sighed. "I probably shouldn't talk about this anymore if you don't want me to know what it is. Talking about it is making me curious." She stood up. "I should probably go."
