Watching the world go by

[Kris Lupin]

Kris laid back on the ground placing her hands under her head. She stared up at the clouds watching them float by. She smiled as she thought that it was like watching the world go by. Kris waited for the clouds the make some kind of shape. Her eyes scanned the clouds for any sign of rain.

[Sabrina St. Clare]

Sabrina ran out of the castle in tears. She didn't want to be near anyone, she didn't want to talk to anyone... she just wanted to be alone. It was too hard, too painful to be around people who were going on about their happy lives, while she knew that hers was going to end. She ran to the big tree by the lake and was startled to see a girl sitting there. She was about to turn around and find a more private place to be when she heard a voice.

[Kris Lupin]

Kris sat up when she heard someone walking towards her. She looked at the girl that was about to leave. "No need to leave, I wont bite." She smiled slightly then turned to the lake slightly hoping she would stay. She wouldn't mind if the girl would stay.

[Sabrina St. Clare]

Sabrina wiped at her eyes. "I... I don't know you..." she said. "Look, you really don't want to talk to me, I'm not exactly a barrel of laughs these days..."

[Kris Lupin]

"Well, laughs aren't a big matter to me. Take a seat and get to know me." Kris smiled slightly looking back at the girl. "Besides I think the ones that need laughs the most are the dying or sick."

[Sabrina St. Clare]

"Dying?" Sabrina said in a high-pitched voice. "Who said anything about dying? What do you know?" She stared at the girl, wide-eyed. Did anyone else know what was supposed to happen to her?

[Kris Lupin]

"Nothing, I was just speaking my thoughts." Kris said quietly, "Sorry if I offended you by it. I don't always think before speaking." She looked back at the lake not really seeing it.

[Sabrina St. Clare]

Sabrina tried to calm her breathing. "No... you didn't offend me. I just... Nevermind, it's stupid. I'm just upset, I guess. I... I had to break up with my boyfriend today, and I really wish I hadn't..." She sighed and sat down in the grass. "This whole thing just sucks!" she cried.

[Kris Lupin]

"Everyone has to go through the heart break." Kris said smiling slightly. She looked at her, "My name is Kris, Kris Lupin. What's your's?" She watched the girl while she waited for her name to be said.

[Sabrina St. Clare]

"Sabrina St. Clare," she said in a muffled voice. Then suddenly the other thing the girl had said hit her. "Wait... Lupin? Did you say your last name was Lupin?" She looked up at the girl in confusion.

[Kris Lupin]

"Yeah, I did." Kris said looking back at the lake while pulling up grass. She moved her eyes to the ground wondering if this girl knew her brother. She also wondered why he didn't remember her when he was just a year younger then her.

[Sabrina St. Clare]

Sabrina stared at the girl. She looked a little like Remus... but that wasn't possible, was it? "Um... you don't happen to know Remus Lupin, do you?" she asked suspiciously.

[Kris Lupin]

Kris nodded, "Yes. He's my brother...how do you know him?" She looked at her wondering if he might have been the one she broke up with. "He doesn't remember me, but I remember him..." Her voice trailed off as she blinked back tears that wanted to fall.

[Sabrina St. Clare]

"Your brother?" Sabrina said, surprised. For once, her own problem seemed to have slipped from her mind. "I didn't know Remus had a sister. Um... he's... uh, was, my boyfriend. You know, the one I broke up with? I didn't want to, it's just that it was better for him this way..."

[Kris Lupin]

"You're the first person I've told. He doesn't even know...I wish there was a way to tell him, without really telling him, you know?" Kris said looking at the girl wondering if she knew a way for him to find out about her. She turned her head and looked at the water.

[Sabrina St. Clare]

"How does he not know that he has a sister?" Sabrina said. "Were you separated when you were younger? I suppose... I suppose that we could find a way to help him remember you or something.... but really, I think the best thing is for you to tell him. Really, I think he should hear it from you."

[Kris Lupin]

"Yeah, we were separated...I really wouldn't know how to tell him...I don't want to be blunt about it. I don't think saying 'Remus, I'm your older sister' would be best...at least that isn't how I would want to hear it." Kris brought her knees to her chest then rapped her arms around her legs.

[Sabrina St. Clare]

Sabrina thought for a minute. "Well, maybe... maybe you should try to get to know him first. Talk to him. But don't wait too long to tell him... it'll just make it worse."

[Kris Lupin]

"Yeah, but I wouldn't when to tell him." Kris stared at the lake as if it would tell her what to do. She wished there was a way that she could tell him about her being his sister without being blunt. She sighed but just continued to stare at the lake watching the water ripple.

[Sabrina St. Clare]

"Remus is easy to talk to," Sabrina said. "And you're telling him good news. Try telling him that the reason you're breaking up with him is because you know you're going to die."
