Vanessa walked out of the girl's common room in just her black pajama bottoms and a red tank top. She was tired, but for some reason she couldn't sleep. She decided to walk around a bit. Or at least go downstairs. She went to the sofa closest the the fire and curled up there, just watching the flames for a while. They were mesmorising.

Lily was having trouble sleeping, too. She didn't know why, but she simply couldn't relax. She spent a little time tossing and turning, and when she heard her roommate Vanessa slip downstairs, she decided to do the same.
She pulled a light green bathrobe on over her pajamas, then went downstairs to the common room. Vanessa was sitting by the fire, and Lily walked over to join her.
"Hey," she said. "I guess you couldn't sleep, either?"

Vanessa looked up at Lily and smiled with a shrug. "Not really. What's up with you?" She asked, wondering why her roomate was downstairs as well.

Lily sat down across from Vanessa and rubbed her eyes tiredly. She didn't really have any reason why she couldn't sleep; at least none that she could think of. It was just a case of her mind wouldn't stop working long enough to let her body rest.
"Oh, nothing much, I guess," she replied with a sigh. "Just couldn't sleep. How about you?"

Vanessa shrugged with a sigh. "The same for me, I'm afraid." She looked back at the fire. "I guess I just wasn't as tired as I thought."
She wasn't sure why she was so restless tonight. She figured she may have been nervous about seeing Axel again. And part of her was worried what others would think about them together, his family especiallly.

Lily, however, was actually really tired. She should have been able to sleep, but she just couldn't.
"Yeah, I can understand that," she said, yawning and trying to flatten down her hair in the back. "I'm pretty tired, actually, but I feel restless or something. Like there's too much on my mind. I just don't know what. Is there anything bothering you?"

Vanessa blushed slightly. "Yeah, a little. I just started sort of dating this guy and...he's a slytherin." She said and smiled. "I really like him but I'm worried about his family." She replied and shrugged nervously. She really wasn't sure what she was gonna do about him.

"I can understand that," Lily replied. "With the way things have been lately, there's just no way of knowing how families are going to react to that sort of thing. Not all Slytherins seem to care as much about family connections and all that, though. Obviously the boy you're dating doesn't mind it. Maybe his parents won't care, either. What's his name?"
