Vanessa had worked at Stu's bar for nearly a week, and she still hadn't met Stu. If this was cause to worry Vanessa didn't show it. In fact her work didn't suffer from any of her worries, asside from the fact that Nathalia seemed to have the place wrapped around her finger, Vanessa was a professional.
She had been cleaning tables for years and singing in night clubs for longer than that. So far however Vanessa hadn't stepped on stage again since that first night, and she had no intention of doing so ever again.
In fact she had firm intentions of simply keeping her head down and surviving until she could figure out some sort of gameplan. So it was she neared one of the tables her eyes cast downward as she addressed the person there, "What can I get you?"

Jadon had gone to Stu's actually expecting to talk to Nathalia. And she was there all right, but the place was packed and the girl hadn't even noticed her friend yet.
At the table he sat at, a feminine voice grabbed his attention, one much more reserved that Nat's, and he looked up. "You're new," he pointed out rather obviously. "I guess Nat finally gave in and hired an extra hand." He felt that, since he was friends with Nathalia, he could talk casually to this girl. "How are you doing?" he asked, considering what he wanted. The girl was obviously a cocktail waitress, or she'd be behind the bar, so he he quickly added that he just wanted a glass of firewhiskey.

Vanessa's eyes shot up when he announced that she was new. The fact that she was new didn't bear contemplating, she thought she did a good enough job that her actions were fluid and sure. Then she realized she was overanalyzing, he was probably a regular and therefore she would appear new to him.
As he took on a casual tone her eyes darted to Nathalia who was busy and therefore unable to entertain. Vanessa didn't want to entertain nor did she want to participate in idle chit chat, she just wanted to do her job and go home. Unfortunately her job included idle chit chat.
"Well, I haven't fallen on my face yet." she said with a calm self teasing smile, "Do you know our illustrious bartender?" she asked, and could only assume what with how he used Nathalia's name with familiarity.

"Staying on your feet is a good thing," Jadon said with a little smile.
She was a pretty girl... how Stu found them and kept them, he'd never know. He knew Nathalia was too good for this place, and rather imagined that this girl was too.
He nodded. "Yeah, Nat and I are actually old friends. And... cousins. Kind of." He waved it off. The family tree was weird, and it was just easier to say that they were friends.
"I'm Jadon," he said, extending his hand to her, obviously waiting for a name in return.

She took down his drink order, but he didn't seem to be in a hurry. It was then she realized she hadn't had any real human conversation in a long while. Now even though she sought solitude, did she secretly wish that she had somebody to talk to? Or perhaps it was someone she wanted to unload on, someone who would help her with her problems, in either case it wasn't this man.
"Vanessa." she replied shaking his hand, "Oh, cousins." she smiled a bit, that made him a bit more likable, that was, since he wasn't one of Nathalia's many admirerers. "I'll be right back." she said easily intending to get his drink for him.
She went to the bar and mostly stayed out of Nathalia's way while fixing him what he asked for, she paused to let Nathalia know her cousin was there before returning to him with his drink in hand.
"There you go." she finished writing something down on her pad of paper then flashed him a smile, she was prepared to zp off again, "Is there anything else I can get you?"
