Was it possible to have a worse night? Sedona sincerely doubted it. It wasn't really terribly disasterous, but it was highly disappointing. She'd had something of a bad day, and gone to Enchanted to at least make her feel better. Except that she was alone, because she was not going to bring her brothers, and Gaby was busy with something. Naturally, the guys were bothering her instead of being what she was looking for.
She went to the bathroom to check and make sure that she still looked good, and to consider the possibility of just going home and writing the day as one that couldn't be saved.
The bathroom smelled like expensive alcohol and dirty deeds, and she needed out, going all the way across the club to the entrance, and slipped out the door, past the people waiting to get in.
She asked the bouncer working if he had a cigarette she could have... one of those vices that she employed rarely, but she was sort of craving one tonight. She wasn't addicted. Sometimes she just craved one like she craved chocolate one week a month.
When he handed her one and she lit it with his lighter, she thanked him with a big smile and moved a little ways down the sidewalk, leaning against the wall and just trying to relax.

Ryder had the night off of his usual activities, and had loped down the street, a small tin box of cigars in the palm of his right hand. He was looking for a source of entertainment, and he had yet to find a place or human that could provide it. He sighed as his eyes landed on Enchanted. Ryder never liked night clubs, he always saw them as a place to meet people he would never want to speak to again in his life.
A small red spot redirected his gaze, and Ryder saw a lit cigerette. It looked as if it had just been set up, and the girl attatched to it didn't look that bad at all from what he could see. She appeared to be one of those people, most pretty girls wouldn't shut up about the pettiest things, but Ryder only wanted a light right now. He was sure that if he wanted to, Ryder could just walk away content.
He walked casually up to the girl against the wall and flipped open his tin box, "you have a lighter?"

Sedona casually eyed the man that came up to her, and taking a drag, she looked down at the tin he was holding out.
She didn't have a lighter. She had used the bouncer's, as well as his cigarette, but the man in front of her was young and... well, heartstoppingly good looking, and this just felt like too much of an oppertunity to send him towards the bouncer.
"Something that works just as well," she said, taking one of his smokes out of the tin and pressing the tip against the lit tip of hers until it started to smoulder, and she handed it to him, smiling in the process. "It's not often I find a fellow smoker in wizarding London. I thought it was a habit left to muggles."

She had taken a drag before answering him, which caused Ryder to let out a breathe he hadn't realized he'd been holding. This girl might actually think before some sort of word vomit spilled from her mouth heinously, he thought. The smell of cigerette smoke comforted him and he slouched against the wall, next to her as she took the cigar from his hand.
Ryder was somewhat interested in the idea of lighting one nicotine lined stick with another, and it intrigued him how she didn't seem afraid of the idea of fire. She herself was smoking, and seemed to do it for the actual pleasure of inhaling the smoke, rather then the look of it. This girl wasn't bad either.
"Wizards," Ryder took a second to take a momentary drag from his cigar. "Are missing out. Much like how I am missing your name."

Perfect, Sedona thought, though she did have to fight to keep from laughing. It was definitely a line, but a well delivered one.
When she mentioned the fact that most wizards seemed not to smoke, it was an attempt to keep him there, to get him to talk a little to see if she was interested. And he was staying, which meant she hat at least until he finished smoking to make an impression, and the same went for him.
"I'm Sedona," she said, putting her cigarette between her lips so that she could extend her hand to the guy. Her eyebrows raised slightly, waiting for his name in return.

She unforcibley laughed at his line and Ryder smirked slightly at himself, she was easier to see with the light of two cigerettes. And he wasn't complaining. She seemed to be naturally pretty, and looked of European descent, although he wasn't about to classify.
Her body language seemed to state that she was comfortable with the position they were in, and Ryder did the same, although he pulled the collar of his cloak a little high over his neck to prevent from getting cold. If he was going to stand out here for a while, he might as well ensure his comfort level.
"Pleasure, Sedona," Ryder shook her hand with his left, holding the cigar to his lips with his right. Again, he pasued to inhale deeply before replying with, "I'm Ryder."

"The pleasure is mine, Ryder," Sedona said, the faint light between them dancing in both their eyes.
They had come to that part of the introductions where Sedona should either ask what he did, or let the conversation die, and she wasn't quite ready for either. Running a hand through her hair, she said, rather boldly, just to see his reaction, "We should probably exchange contact information." Then, she smiled. "It's unlikely we'll ever be able to find another wizard with a light, and then where will we be?"
The joke at the end saved her comment from being too bold, and she took another drag, her body more relaxed now.

"Aren't you the charmer?" Ryder was a little surprised that she had jumped so quickly from names to contact information. He had been expecting a few awkward meaningless conversations before actually attempting to find out if she would want to come back to his place for some coffee and another smoke. "You're more effecient than most males."
Ryder had never been in many of these situations before, having been the quiet one of his group. Tyler had always attracted the attention and gotten the girl, which was fine by Ryder. If he had wanted, Ryder was sure he could get himself into the same trouble Tyler craved. But this girl seemed to be interested in him. "I live down the street, at the apartment complex to the left. I have a few spare lighters..." Ryder was almost unsure what to say, which didn't happen often.

When he commented that she was a charmer, she just shrugged and took another drag from her cigarette, which was nearing the end of its life. She had a feeling that he was quite the charmer on his own, she'd just beaten him to it. She didn't mind.
His next comment, though, was unexpected, and couldn't help but burst out laughing. "What can I say?" she said a moment later. "I know what I want and I go for it." The comment about contact information had been carefully set up as a joke, but he took it the way she almost hoped he would, and when he told her where he lived, she bit her lip. It was rather quick, and she wondered if he was some kind of psycho killer. Sometimes, her willingness to trust anyone really got her in trouble. She had a poor judge of character, assuming everyone was all right.
"Spare lighters?" She repeated. "Really? That's the line you're using?"

"A girl who understands what she wants," Ryder thought aloud contemplatively. He tapped his chin with the knuckle of his cigerette- holding hand, making sure not to accidentally burn himself. "I believe that is a rare accomplishment on it's own. Do you believe in playing games?" He was referring to the games all the girls he tended to encounter. None of those petty things seemed to really appeal to him. It was as if he were still a child, and if you didn't find the girl fast enough in hide and go seek, she would find another hiding spot. It was ridiculous and cliche.
Ryder raised an eyebrow, amused. "Line? I have no idea what you're referring to. Maybe I'm just a good guy." He was joking around slightly, he really didn't think this girl was completely interested in going back to his apartment to get a lighter or anything else she wanted.

"Games?" Sedona repeated, and a wide grin crossed her features. She misinterpreted the question, and the way she read it should have worried her, or sent her running, but instead, she smiled. "Why, is that an offer?"
Sedona could be a little wild on occasion, though it was mostly just a front. But she had very little inhibitions, and wasn't afraid to let people know this. She was pretty sure Matteo and Gio hated this about her, but she felt like she was untouchable thanks to the family she grew up in.
"I really don't think you're just a good guy," she told him, still leaning against the wall. "And I might be disappointed if you were."
She took the final drag from her cigarette, and dropped it. It vanished before it hit the ground.

"I would hope not," Ryder involuntary wrinkled his nose as he tapped the cigerette against the wall to get rid of the ash. "Games are for children, and they should be kept there. Adults need to find their own source of entertainment."
Ryder had the same untouchable feeling about him. He was everything he had wanted to grow up to be, dangerous and calm. Not like Tyler and not like Elliot. Himself. And with his somewhat protection of the Santinos, Ryder's mind was untouchable. There were onl a few situations hehadn't prepared himself for, such as an up-front girl.
"You wouldn't know that," Ryder shrugged, still being obviously sarcastic. "I could be the guy that throws his coat in the middle of the street to ensure that your shoes don't get muddy."

"Really?" Sedona asked, her smile fading at his answer, and she realized what he'd been asking. In which case, no, she wasn't the type of girl to play games to get a guy to like her. Those took too much time away from the good stuff. But the answer she gave Ryder was quite different.
"Sweetie, you haven't been playing the right games."
As he told her what kind of guy he could be, she tilted her head to the side. "And what fun would a guy like that be?" She asked, completely serious. Maybe this was her problem, that she was never attracted to good guys. "I'd be far more interested in a guy who challanged the rain that created the puddle in the first place."

Ryder had been looking at the ask on the ground, but with that sentence, he sifted his eyes up from the ground to look at her. "And you believe I use lines, Miss Sedona?" He was smiling, it was definately humurous of her to mention that. Ryder wasn't quite sure where this conversation was headed, but it was had to be the most interesting of the entire day.
"I don't think of those as games. The concepts of fun verse games is entirely different."
"To impress you, I'd have to banish the rain before you saw it. I'll keep that in mind next time forceful weather might ruin your outfit," Ryder was still smiling. He preferred not to be any kind of guy that a girl would date, and tried to unattatch hiself from any stereotype. He liked having the freedom to choose what he would do without being held back.

"Oh, well, semantics," Sedona said with a little laugh. "I consider them games, and I rather enjoy them. But if you're asking me about mind games... I don't really have the time for those."
They were petty and really pretty useless. Especially when she just wanted to have some fun. Maybe she was too much like a boy in that respect, but she didn't mind. So far, she hadn't had any guys complain.
"Could you banish the rain? I'd be impressed," she replied. "Even if I saw it first. But then, I don't think you're much into impressing me." She wished she hadn't finished her cigarette, because she still felt like taking another drag. "And to be honest, I like that."

"That's a relief," Ryder shrugged. "Life's too short to try and mess around with men's minds. Most aren't too smart." Of course he was excluding himself from the category, but he didn't really see himself as part of the group of men who fell for the antics in the first place. It was if he was an exception to the whole "two types of people in the world" thing.
"I'm glad you could tell that much," Ryder smiled good naturedly, noticing he was at the tail end of his own cigerette. He took another drag before it was gone completely. "You aren't that bad yourself, Miss."
Sedona was definately not like most other girls. And Ryder was reveling in the fact that there might be a girl out there who wasn't clingy and obsessed with her reputation or a complete emotional wreck. Of course, this could all change with time, but so far, she hadn't let on to anything that would push Ryder in the other direction.

Sedona just continued to smile. By now, she knew several guys that would have run off. She wasn't the sweet, demure girl that many guys liked. She certainly knew what she wanted and wasn't told no often. Not that she listened when she was. The only people she really considered listening to were her brothers and father, and Gaby, and even they were hit or miss with her.
"Thank you," she told him for the compliment, and watched as his cigarette's life ended and the tiny little embers died. She felt more relaxed now, listening to the dull, muted beat of the music inside the club, and enjoying the company she now found herself in.
"You're right, though. Life's too short to do anything but grab a hold and enjoy the ride."

Ryder wasn't the type to leave a situation if he had some sort of unfinished business with it. He never ran away from anything, except for maybe his siblings. And Sedona was a sort of challenge for him, he hadn't met someone so straightforward before. It made him a lot more cautious, she could be hiding something very crucial from him.
Ryder didn't say 'you're welcome'. He didn't think it was nesscary to the conversation., and they were useless words. He very rarely said thank you to begin with, and loathed the words 'you're welcome' since his parents had shoved manners down his throat.
"Much of the time, people need to take iniative," Ryder shrugged. A lot of people waited for chances to come to them. That wasn't how it was supposed to work.

Those words made Sedona smile widely. "Was that an invitation to take some initiative?" she asked him, pushing away from where she'd been standing against the wall and taking a couple of steps closer to the boy she'd just met.
All she needed was the invitation, and sometimes not even that. But it certainly sounded like he was hinting at her. Thank Merlin she never showed this side of herself to her brothers, or they'd keep her locked up for certain.

"Do you have initiative, Miss Sedona?" Ryder asked, taking a step closer to her as well, leaving very little space inbetween them.
Ryder gave her a small smirk. That was indeed an invitation, but Ryder would never say it outright. As direct as he was, these situations let him take a bit of a gamble on things. Girls weren't important, they came and went. Therefore, they didn't follow his main philosophy. And as rare as Sedona was, she still hadn't placed a permanent spot in his life just yet.
