Class was over and Raven had nowhere to go but the Lake. She didn't want to go back to the Common Room until after dinner. The sun was blistering hot so she took off her robe and jumper and stuffed them in her bag. She sat on a bank near the Lake and stared at it. Raven sighed. A group of Gryffindors walked past her and glared at her. She gave them a cold icy stare and they shuffled off to their destination. The past few days have been horrific! she thought to herself. She lay on the lush green grass and stared at the oddly shpaed clouds and rested.

It was unseasonably warm for January. Andrea thought there must be something wonky with the weather. All the snow had melted, and the sun was actually hot. Anyone who wanted to be inside on such a day certainly had to be crazy.
Even Andrea was not immune to the beautiful clear sky and bright, beaming sun. She was sort of hoping that Regulus might be outside, so she took a walk by the lake. Instead, she found an unfamiliar girl lying out on the grass. She could see by the girl's robes that she was a fellow Slytherin. But Andrea wasn't feeling particularly inclined to stop and talk to a stranger, even if she was a housemate. After all, Andrea didn't like many people.
As she turned to walk in the other direction, however, she kicked a stone that rolled towards the girl and stopped at her feet.

Raven looked around her. She saw what looked like a second year. "Oh hello." she said warmly. "Lovely day. Well a bit too warm for this month." she laughed. Raven got to her feet. "I'm Raven Carter. Fourth year in Slytherin." she said and as she got to the girl she held otu her hand in friendship. "Don't worry I won't bite." she joked.

Andrea looked at the older girl for another minute. She wasn't sure whether to trust the friendly gesture. Most people knew Andrea as the angry girl who frowned all the time. But she had been a lot more positive lately, since Regulus started paying attention to her.
Shrugging, she shook the girl's hand. "I'm Andrea. I'm a second year Slytherin. And I do bite sometimes."

Aurora laughed. "Thats a pre warning I take it." she said. She looked at the sky. "would you like to walk with me?" she asked.

Being a Slytherin, Andrea doubted the older girl's intentions. Most Slytherins were not exactly friendly just for the sake of being friendly. And if Andrea had been aware that Alecto Carrow had taken a dislike to this girl, she might have shied away in fear of making Alecto angry. Andrea may have had an attitude, but even her friendship with Regulus Black didn't make her immune to Alecto. That girl made Andrea nervous.
She hesitated another minute, but eventually decided that a walk might be OK. After all, maybe she'd run into Regulus. Still, she kept her hand in her pocket, in case she needed to grab her wand quickly. Not that she could have done much against a fourth year.
"Yeah, OK," she said at last. "How come I haven't seen you around before?"

"I'm a new student plus I lived in france for a while." she said. She smiled. Raven heard something. "Can you hear that? It's not the students. Are we under Dementor protection?" she asked.

Andrea froze and looked around, then gave the other girl a strange look. "Dementors? Here? There shouldn't be. Professor Dumbledore doesn't like them, that's what I heard. He wouldn't want to use them for protection. That's why all those aurors are patrolling the grounds all the time."
She felt a slight nervous rumble in her stomach, but since she couldn't feel any cold air or anything, she was sure the girl must be imagining things. Imagine, dementors at Hogwarts!

"No sorry false alarm." she said. Raven was a Dark Witch. Like the rest of her family. But she didn't want to say it to this little second year. Life was always in the way. "Don't worry my brother taught me the Patronus." she said.

Regulus Black straightened out his uniform. He had to always look his best. Andrea seemed to follow him around more than usual, but he wasn't about to complain. She wasn't doing her usual complaining about everything and she was smiling, why would Regulus complain about that?
Today, however, Andrea wasn't following him around yet. He walked down to the common room and sat on the couch for a little bit, but there wasn't anything to do. Thinking that she would be down at the lake, Regulus headed outside.
Walking toward the lake with an almost regal sense, Regulus spotted Andrea and another girl. Drawing closer, an eyebrow was raised on his face. "Hello ladies," he said putting on a smile.

Andrea broke into a smile. He really was the only one able to make her smile. He was so cute! It still sort of amazed Andrea that he even paid attention to her at all. He could have had girls swarming all over him, and if he had been older, he probably would have. But she saw him first. She could beat off all the other girls, if it became necessary.
She gave a jealous glance at Raven. She wouldn't try to steal him away, would she? She was a fourth year, and Regulus was only a first year, so it would be kinda gross. She decided it was safe.
"Hi, Regulus," she said happily. "Raven and I were just taking a walk. What are you doing?"

There was that smile that he liked to see.
Looking for you, came his first thought. "I thought that I'd go for a little walk and maybe run into you on the way to see if you wanted to join." His smile turned into a half grin. "The common room was too quiet."
Regulus was only eleven, but he liked to think that he was much older than what he was and he did act like it.
Giving a glance to the other girl, Regulus raised an eyebrow. He wasn't sure what to say to her. Looking back to Andrea, his face had the almost permanent light smirk on it. "Been out long?"

"Well I just saw her." Raven said. "Have you seen Sirius or maybe James?" Raven asked. She needed to speak to them...Badly. "I'm Raven Carter." Raven smiled her beautiful smile. She looked over to the Lake. "Hey I have a cool idea guys. Follow me." she said with a sly grin. She threaded her arm through Andrea's. "I bought some stuff the other day from Zonko's. I'm thinking of playing a practical joke on the Gryffindors." she said. She then let her new friend go and rummaged in her bag. She pulled out her book on the Dark Arts and found what she was looking for.
