Raven walked into the Common Room she felt fairly relaxed. She sat down in one of the plush green armchairs and sighed. "Well the Sorting went well." she said. She wrapped her new Slytherin robed around her. Cosy. She looked around. "Well under the Lake can't be that bad." she laughed. She heard someone enter the room. "Hello?" she called.

Alecto had the deep misfortune of walking down the stairs to the common room at that very moment. She hated the sorting ceremonies, even though she skipped all of them. The new students were so irritating and asked too many questions. Really, how difficult was it to just shut your mouth and mind your own business? No one cared who you were, anyway.
"Be quiet," she snapped, stepping off the staircase. "There are people trying to ignore you."
Alecto rolled her eyes and gave the girl an appraising once over. She decided instantly that she didn't like her. She looked like one of those types that thought a little too highly of themselves. It also irked her that the girl looked to be her age. If she was a fourth year and her dorm mate, Alecto was going to scream.

Cadence, meanwhile, had already been sitting in a corner of the common room, flipping idly through her copy of Witch Weekly. When the new girl had walked in and started talking to herself, Cadence had rolled her eyes and buried her face behind the magazine, pretending to be deeply engrossed in some inane story about how the Minister of Magic and his upcoming wedding. Like anyone cared. Although... the Minister was kind of hot. In that older guy kind of way.
At the sound of Alecto's voice, Cadence looked up and grinned coldly. "Oh, Alecto, don't be so hard on the new girl. I mean, clearly she needs to talk to herself, because she doesn't have any friends of her own."

"Don't start on me." Raven growled. "My brother, Leon warned me about you two stuck ups but I'd want to see the good in you if there is any." she said. She put her right hand in her robes and tightly wrapped her fingers around her wand.

Alecto laughed and looked at Cadence. "The new girl calling us stuck ups. Godric, they're letting in the worst of the worst lately. Didn't Hogwarts used to have standards?" She didn't even know the girl's brother, nor did she know why Raven thought she cared about her brother.
She shook her head. "I'm going to the lake. Want to come?" She asked Cadence, completely ignoring the other girl in the room now. As far as she was concerned, the conversation was done and she never needed to concern herself with her again.

"Expelliarmus!" she yelled as she pulled out her wand. "Never trust a Carrow is what my father said, hes great at the dark arts and taught me everything." she said. She looked around her wand still pointing at Carrow. "Now we can sit and talk about things like humans or we can fight like animals it your choice." she said.

Cadence had just folded up her magazine with the intention of reading it later, when all of a sudden, the new girl went berzerk and started pointing her wand at Alecto.
"What, are you psycho, or something?" she snapped in a shrill voice. "Put your wand down, moron. We were just going to leave you alone, why are you picking a fight? Wouldn't you rather be alone so you can talk to yourself?"

"I don't normally talk to myself I thought the room was empty Blondie." Raven snapped back and pointed her wand to Cadence. "Don't make me say the spell." she warned. Her eyes were dark and full of anger. At that moment she passed out and began shaking violently. She was epileptic so her doctor had said.

Cadence stared at the girl for a minute, motionless, then raised her eyes to Alecto. "What happened? Did she hex herself instead?"
She glanced at the girl again and rolled her eyes. Stuffing her magazine into her robe pocket, she shrugged. "Are we, like, supposed to help her or something? Cause I'm not all that eager to help some git who was just about to curse me or whatever."
What she really wanted to do was leave immediately. Watching the strange girl---whose name she didn't even know--thrash about on the floor made Cadence extremely uncomfortable. Like Alecto, she was taking a strong dislike to the girl, but hers was now mostly based on the fear of something she didn't understand. She didn't particularly fear what the girl might do to her (after all, she had 5 older brothers who would jump to her defense if necessary), but she didn't understand the seizure, and was afraid it might be contagious.

"We're not helping her," Alecto snapped, though her attitude wasn't directed at Cadence. "The stupid git threatened to hex us. And she took my wand."
She stepped towards the convulsing her, having quite a strong urge to kick her, but she reached down and took her wand back instead, sneering at the body on the floor as she walked back to Cadence. "Maybe she'll convulse herself to death. I think she's our new dorm mate... and I refuse to put up with her. She can die like a mudblood first."

Elisabetta looked up from where she was reading and snorted. "I hope that's the last time she mentions knowing about the dark arts out loud. She'd be stupid to keep talking about it; although, knowing these ickle firsties, I can see her blabbing about it to everyone, and that might cost Slytherin some points...hmm...should I help her or should I just sit here and continue to be entertained?" She thought about it for a second, yawned, and then continued to read her novel, leaving the task of telling Madame Pomfrey about Raven's condition to someone else.
