Anton wasn't one for having sentimental, lovey moments, and anyone who knew him might never believe that he had fairly regular dinners with his family. Family was important, afterall. Part of the point of this war was to preserve family.
He was the first one home, besides Damen, who still lived there, but as he closed the door, he didn't know just where he was. He didn't know either if their parents were home for this one or not, but it was all right. He came home for his siblings.
Hanging up his cloak by the door, he stepped into the living room.

When his parents weren't home, Damon had the run of the house. He rather liked it that way, because then he didn't have everyone telling him what kind of behavior was appropriate and what was not. Despite being rich and spoiled, Damon sometimes liked doing things for himself. He had been helping the house elves prepare a dinner for his siblings, and he rather enjoyed the work.
Still, the whole affair had him troubled. He wanted to invite Constantine, but Anton and Cassius, in particular, wanted nothing to do with him. In fact, Damon was pretty sure that the only ones in the family who were still speaking to Constantine were himself and Cadence. Sometimes Damon wondered how long it would be before he was kicked out of the family as well. After all, he continued to resist the invitations from Cassius to join with the death eaters. Really, what would he have to offer such an organization, other than his name? Damon couldn't fight and didn't entirely approve of killing muggleborns. It was all very confusing.
Damon finished up in the kitchen and moved toward the foyer. At the sight of his oldest brother, he broke into a smile. "Anton, you made it," he greeted. "Good to see you."

Anton smiled and returned the sentiment to his brother, but he was also giving him a once over, making sure he was all right, taking care of himself... everything a parent should do, really. Anton never really *played* with his brothers, even when they were little, and he was barely older than them. He'd been four when the twins were born, but he always felt like they'd be neglected if he didn't watch out for them. It was far from the truth... there was a large staff that was instructed to keep an eye on them, but Anton usually pushed them away. His siblings were his responsibility. He'd been a tough four year old to say no to, and nothing had changed.
"I'll always make it, Damon," he said, smiling. "You look like you're doing all right."

Cassius made a bit more of an entrance, if only because he thought he deserved one. He was growing tired of these family dinners... but he knew at least a couple of his other siblings enjoyed them, and Anton always insisted on them. Family is important, he would say, in his deep, self important voice. It was all right... Cassius could sacrifice one night for them. He did actually love them, after all. Most of the time.
He spotted two of his brothers in the kitchen, and joined them. "Which one of you invited Constantine this time?" Without fail, one of them always did, and without fail, Constantine never showed up, thank Salazar. Cassius feared that one of these days, he might.

Damon nodded at Anton. "Yeah, I'm doing all right. Not doing a whole lot, but I'm OK."
He didn't get the chance to say more, because Cassius had just walked in, and, without so much as a greeting, asked who had invited Constantine. He released a breath. "I did," he said. "But he just got back into town and said he ws busy catching up with things, so he won't be coming."
He frowned at this. He really wanted Cassius and Constantine to find some way to make peace, but, despite his best efforts, they were still not speaking. It troubled Damon more than he wanted to admit.

Anton rolled his eyes at Cassius. "Family's important, Cass," he said. "The day he shows up for dinner, you will behave." He knew Cassius and knew that he would try running Constantine out of the house. He saw the other twin so rarely now that he wouldn't risk that happening.
"He's made some choices we may not agree with, but he's still our brother."
Truthfully, he just wanted to keep an eye on all of them. It was always a relief when he saw Cassius walk through the door, because it meant he was still alive.
"Cadence should be home soon with Quincy, right?"

Cadence was always happy to go home and spend time with all of her wonderful older brothers. They doted on her, of course, as well they should. And she adored the attention and affection she got from each of them.
When it was time to go home for another family dinner, Cadence was impatient and didn't feel like waiting for Quincy. He'd figure out his own way there, and she was anxious to see the other boys. She saw Quincy all the time, after all. So she went to find the portkey that was to take her home, and when she found it, she didn't even wait for her brother before she grabbed onto it and was whisked off to the family home.
A few minutes later, she walked into the house and smiled at the sight of her brothers gathering in the foyer. "Hi, everyone!" she greeted them happily.

"Speak of the devil," Anton said, smiling as his youngest sibling and only sister came into the room. He was the first to hug her, often feeling like the patriarch of the family. It wasn't like their father did much these days. Anton always took it upon himself to watch out for his siblings anyway, which was why it troubled him that he and Constantine were supposed to be enemies.
"Where's Quincy?" he asked when he released her from the hug. "I take it he didn't come with you."
Quincy and Cadence were the only two left at Hogwarts, and it was going to get harder to keep an eye on them when they graduated.

Cassius was kept from making a snarky reply to Damien by the arrival of his sister. Still, he shot his brother a dirty look. Constantine was so obviously a lost cause, he didn't know why they bothered. All he knew was that if he ever came wand to wand with his twin, he would kill his brother and walk away without ever looking back. If Damien wasn't careful, he would find himself on that list, too.
He was next to hug Cadence, and he lavished her with compliments about how pretty she looked and the like. She really did have each of them wrapped around her finger.
"Quince will find a way home," he said, brushing off Anton's question. "How are you, love?"

Damon was the last to hug Cadence when she arrived. It was sort of like a chain of command, Anton always led the way in all things, followed closely by Cassius. Damon was always last, even when Quincy was there, he usually came first for most things. But Damon was OK with that. He wasn't as pushy or commanding as his siblings--and that included Cadence.
"I bet Quincy was runing late and you came without him, didn't you? He's never been very good at being on time."

Anton was not as quick to brush off his youngest brother's absence, however. Since the twins were born, Anton had taken it upon himself to protect all of his siblings, and he didn't like not knowing where one of them was. It was the main reason why he hated the tension between the twins. It was harder to keep an eye on Constantine since he and Cassius had their falling out.
On the outside, however, he didn't appear that concerned.
"Well, we'll wait to eat until Quincey makes it. Hopefully, if he's going to come, Constantine will be here by then too," he added, ignoring Cassius' scowl.

Cadence smiled and fluttered her eyes prettily when Cassius complimented her. She knew perfectly well that most of her brothers weren't always all that nice, but they were always quick to say nice things to her. That was, of course, because she was their baby sister. And she really did eat up the attention.
At Anton's comment, however, she rolled her eyes slightly. "Oh, you know Quincy," she said. "He's probably off sulking somewhere and not paying attention to what time it is. I got tired of waiting for him, so here I am. Do we really have to wait for him to have dinner?"

"Yes, we do," Anton replied, giving his sister a look that was almost too paternal for his own good. Sure, he could be a cold blooded killer when the occassion called for it, but family was important. "He knows better than to be too late, though, so don't worry, Cadence. Why don't you tell me about school?"
He was aware that she would probably find this question to be condescending, but he hoped she realized that he was genuinely interested, too. He wanted his sister to have a strong passion in something, and he hoped he could eventually coax that out of her. It would only serve her well in the days to come. In this war, if you didn't stand for something, you were an easy target. She should have had that mentality in anything in life.

Cas rolled his eyes. He always hated when Anton turned into the bug brother, and he was sure That the other siblings felt the same way.
"Stop, Anton. She just left the school, she doesn't want to talk about it now. Come on, Cadence, we can go scope out the dinner situation until the slackers show up."
He was the most vocal of the family, the one who didn't care if he went too far and who kept nothing to himself. He nodded towards his sister.

Cadence had rolled her eyes at the mention of school. In her opinion, the only purpose of school was to have a place where she could be seen and talk to her friends. School itself was boring, and she hated it, although at least she had found Garrett--a sweet, unassuming boy who was smart enough to do her homework for her, but naive enough to not realize he was being played.
However, if Anton thought Cadence was not passionate about anything, he was quite wrong. She did have one great passion--a subject she could think about, talk about, and devote all of her attention to. That, of course, was herself. Yes, she thought quite highly of herself, and everything that she did was in her own self interest.
And right now, talking about school did not suit her interests. And Cassius was being sweet to her right now, so she smiled readily. "OK," she replied, flashing him one of her sweet smiles. "And you can tell me what you've been doing since the last time I was home."
Cadence imagined that her older brothers--well, Anton and Cassius, anyway--lived an exciting and interesting life, the kind of life she would likely never have in a family full of over protective older brothers. It didn't matter, though. She was not interested in adventure.... she just wanted a big house full of pretty things.

Cassius had to bite back a laugh when Cadence declared that he could tell her what was new in his life. How lucky was he that she would at least feign a listen?
He lead her into the dining room and shrugged. "I've been up to a great many things that you'd enjoy... what do you think about a trip to Florance this summer? Just us." Cas traveled a lot, being more mobile and ready to drop everything than Anton was. He was also the 'hex first, ask questions later' kind. But even he wouldn't mind a short vacation with his baby sister.

Cadence couldn't help herself; she let out a tiny little squeal. It wasn't loud, or terribly high-pitched, but it was definitely noticeable.
"Really?" she said excitedly. "You would do that? Yes! Yes, I'd love to go!"
To further demonstrate her enthusiasm for the idea, she threw her arms around him and hugged him tightly. If there was one kind of adventure that she was interested in, it was travel. In her opinion, England was so boring. She could just imagine the things she could see and do in Florence...
