Virginia smiled warmly. "I do not know that I would call what I have a talent. Although I put it out there for the world to enjoy, I do not do it for them. I do it for me, because there is something inside of me that must come out, and the only way I can express it is through my art. It doesn't matter whether it speaks to anyone else, because it speaks to me. And even if it is not good, it is mine, and it is what I want to say."
She let out a slight laugh, realizing how strange that must have sounded. "I dont know if that makes any sense. I guess what I mean is... we all have a passion for something inside of us, and we have to find the way to express it. "

It made sense to Kiara who was bursting to the brim of things inside of her that needed to be released, but she wasn't allowed. She had been poked and prodded into being the perfect débutante and she wasn't supposed to show passion or fire in any area, even though she longed for home, the freedom in a pair of boots and dirty jeans. The smell of horse sweat and leather...she herself was like a horse, once thought untamable, now utterly broken.
Her eyes glazed a bit at the thought before she wiped away the look, "It makes perfect sense, and I think I understand the sentiment."

Virginia looked at Kiara quietly. She actually recognized that look on the woman’s face. She herself had once had a similar look on her face. She had been raised to be a proper lady, much like Kiara had. But after her beloved nanny had disappeared without a trace, Virginia had felt abandoned and alone. She withdrew into herself for a while, and what brought her out again was art. If she had not been able to channel her energy and emotion into art, Virginia was not sure what she would have done.
“Kiara,” she began carefully. “Next week, I have a guest from my old art school coming to give a lecture and lesson on art. Would you be interested in coming?”

"I-I...I don't know." she stuttered, she was flustered by the suggestion, she had a million things to do but all of a sudden she just wanted to drop it all and go with it. Do something spontaneous like she used to, but even the thought of doing something like that was painful to her. She had been not abandoned by her loved ones but rather they had pushed her out of their lives, and because of that she had so little self confidence left.

Virginia could tell that Kiara was tempted, but she was also uncertain. Virginia could understand that; she had been somewhat hesitant when she first started getting involved in art. It was a way of expressing oneself, and for someone as prim and proper as Virginia had always been, it was somewhat of an intimidating concept. But sometimes a person had things bottled up so tightly inside of them, and they had to come out somehow. Right now, Kiara seemed to fit that description.
“You should come,” she said more firmly. “What could it hurt? It might even be fun.”

Fun was a trap meant to ensnare a woman's more virtuous enchantments, at least that was what had been heavily impressed upon her. Fun was a danger. Fun certainly was not allowed.
"I'll think about it." she said promisingly though she doubted the reality of attending.

A slight frowned marred Virginia's face. Kiara had always been very prim and proper, even more than Virginia herself. She normally wouldn't have been surprised to see the girl responding in such a non-committal sort of way. But there was something else, something beneath the surface, that troubled her. Virginia was getting better at reading people than she once had been, and she sensed that all was not quite right with Kiara. She gave Virginia the impression of a rabbit caught in a trap--scared, confused, and desperate enough to chew her own leg off to be free. Free of what, Virginia couldn't begin to guess.
"Forgive me for asking, Kiara," she said, lowering her voice. "But is everything... what is the word.... OK?"
