Kiara wandered into the new store. One thing being a proper lady had done for her was instil a deep appreciation for art. She had taken many art history lessons and perhaps an art class or two which is why a new Gallery fascinated her.
She was staring at the statues with an appreciative eye and almost a wistful sigh. "It's breathtaking..." she whispered unaware that someone would hear her.

"It is pretty, isn't it?" Daniel asked. He had wondered into the gallery, admittingly, by accident. But some of the art in the gallery had captivated him. He was about to go look at the statues not far from the center of the room when he heard the woman near him comment outloud. "I hope I didnt startle you," Daniel said apologetically.

"Only a little" she confessed with an easy smile, " and yes..." she said turning back to look at the statue, "It's lovely." She turned toward the man who had spoken to her, "Do you know the artist?" she inquired.

"Well I'm sorry for frightening you," Daniel apologized. "I haven't the slightest clue as to who the artist is, no..." Daniel said, feeling a little foolish for not knowing. They both looked at the statues a little longer before Daniel spoke up. "I'm Daniel, by the way," he offered his hand to her. "Daniel Tortuga."

She stared a little longer before turning and extending her hand, "It's a pleasure Mr. Tortuga, I am Miss Kiara Seaton." she said giving her own name. Then she paused as if thinking something over, "Tortuga..." her eyes lifted to the left as if she could find something in her memory, " You wouldn't happen to teach at Hogwarts would you Mr. Tortuga?" she inquired politely.

(I forgot I was part of this thread until I opened it and I was like, hey! that's me!)
"Daniel," he corrected. He hated going by Mr. Tortuga, even with teaching, it's something he had never gotten used to. But he had a feeling that by adressing him formally, she wished to be adressed the same way.
"It's a pleasure to meet you as well Miss Seaton," Daniel smiled. "And yes, I teach Muggle Studies at Hogwarts," He added. "You've heard of me?" he wondered how.

She smiled a little less guardedly and inclined her head, "I hosted a small fund raiser at the school a small while back. " she let him know, " I try not to forget a face."
They hadn't been introduced, but she had studied all of the faculty and members of interest at the School extensively, as she did any other facility in which she was going to be associated with. It helped to know who you were working with, as well as avoided any possible scandal if you knew enough about the people you'd be around.

"Oh I see," Daniel said, understanding. He vaguely remembered something about a fund raiser, but it was also likely that he didn't attend. "Do you do that often? Host fund raisers?" Daniel asked, a sort of sideways way of asking what she did.

Of course, she almost blurted out that it was proper for a young lady to do so and that any other idea or notion was completely ridiculous but she held her tongue and gave him a "proper" answer anyway, " I do so whenever I am able to, I believe it's good to help one's community if possible." she said with a kind smile.

Daniel moved to another painting, one that was very vibrant in color. It reminded him of his childhood bedroom before he started school at Hogwarts. "That's good," Daniel said. He noticed how properly Kiara spoke. "As long as you like to do what you're doing, then good for you."

She nodded expertly, " I do enjoy it. And you? Do you enjoy teaching Mr. Tortuga?" she inquired politely, giving him her full attention. He had endeavored into the conversation and now as society perfectly dicated, she was to give him her full attention.

"Daniel," he remined her politely, then he thought about her question. "It's the right place to be for me, I think," Daniel said. He turned to face Kiara. "I teach Muggle Studies, the students may not think about it the same way I do, but it's important to learn about muggles propperly, and not the rubbish that gets told in folklore," Daniel was very passionate about teaching Muggle Studies, especially these days, when more and more muggle borns were being discriminated against.

Virginia had been busy on the phone talking to a potential buyer and couldn't get out to the main gallery right away. As soon as she finished on the line, she went out to greet her customers. They were in the middle of a conversation, however, and she didn't want to be rude and interrupt them. So she stood back and waited for a moment while they talked, giving them the opportunity to call her over if they had any questions about any of the pieces.

Still Kiera heard the woman's footsteps and turned to face her, and she could hardly believe her eyes, "Virginia?" she asked, a true smile on her face, she turned to Daniel, and asked for him to excuse her for a moment, then smiling at him, she turned and walked to where Virginia was standing, "My word it's been a long time since I last saw you. How have you been?"

Virginia was surprised when she realized that she knew the woman. They hadn't necessarily been best friends, not like her friendship with June, but they were friendly acquaintances, at least.
"Kiara," she said, smiling and stepping forward to take the other woman's hands in her own. "It has been a long time. I'm doing very well, merci. I just moved here from Paris... I spent the last few years working on my art in France, now I've opened my own gallery. And how are you doing? You look fantastique!"

Kiara simply beamed then took a look around, "Yes you have done wonders here. Everything's so beautiful." she said slipping in and out of french with her friend.
"Thank you. I'm doing well, nothing much to say about life, it's all the same. Although I was just stopping by. I knew they were putting in a gallery here I had no idea you were the artist. Good for you."
Virginia was doing something she loved, and happened to be good at. Kiara was sent away from what she loved, and while she was good at running charities and being a proper young lady, her life had never felt more passionless.

"Merci," Virginia said, beaming. "I have been wanting my own studio for years, and the time was finally right. And June is here--you remember June? And now you... it feels just like home!"
She definitely felt welcomed here, which was more than she had expected. She had expected something of a culture shock, in that the locals might not appreciate a French woman coming to town and trying to bring culture and art to their midst. But so far, she was getting a better reception than she did in Paris. Things in Paris had become so snobbish, and if you weren't one of the elite, you weren't worth their time. Most of the arts community in Paris was composed of muggles, and they all seemed to think her a bit odd, as if they could somehow sense that she was not only an artist, but a fully-trained witch.
"There is nothing going on in your life, really?" she continued incredulously. "No man, no job, no hobbies? There must be something you're doing."

Her smile faded just a bit before it came back full force, "I'm working on a new charity." she said. It was proper for her to do such things, they were the only things she was supposed to take joy in she supposed, " We're raising funds to reconstruct some of the damage that happened during that ghastly attack." she said with a shudder.
As for the rest of it no. There was no man, no real hobbies...nothing.

Virginia also looked sober. She didn't know much about the attack, although she had seen some of the damage that still remained in some of the shops. It was all so tragic and pointless, but she was proud of her friend for trying to do something to help.
"Well, charity is a noble pursuit," she replied, smiling. "S'il vous plait, let me know if there is anything I can do to help. I was not 'ere when the attack took place, but I do want to reach out to the community as much as I can. This is a time for us all to join together and help each other, no?"

Kiera smiled, "That'd be kind of you. It's a real shock to the community, but I think everyone's pulling together pretty well." She took another glance around, "I don't know how you do all this, you've got such talent I wish..." she trailed off into silence. She wished she had some sort of hobby, something that reflected the passion she kept so deeply locked inside herself.
