"Now you're really being stupid," Remus said. "You can't be out there alone. Greyback will take you. I will not let that happen. That guy's a monster! You're coming with me if I have to knock you over the head and drag you there! I don't care if you don't want to stay with Dad, but you're coming back to Chloe's with me right now!" He stamped his foot angrily.

"Because I just found out I had a sister, and I want to get the chance to know you!" Remus yelled angrily. "If you go, I can't come after you. I will not risk having Greyback find me. And I'm not letting him find you either." He took out his wand and pointed it at her. "If I have to, I'll hit you with a Stunning spell and drag you back to Chloe's. You can't go out there alone. If Greyback doesn't find you, you could get killed or starve to death. Think logically for a second, OK? If you don't want to go back with Dad, fine. If you don't want to go to school, that's fine, too. But don't run away from the pack. It's a big mistake, Kris."

Remus nodded. "I know. And I'd want the same thing if it were me. Why would he keep me, the damaged one... and not you, the healthy one?" He sighed. "Look, I know it's hard to adjust to... being what we are. But you're luckier than I was. You're lucky that Chloe and the others found you and took you in. I never had anyone but Mom and Dad all my life from the time I was bitten. I thought I was horrible, shameful... something to be hidden away. Now I see that maybe it's not so bad, you know?"

"I know... I guess there's always that chance. That's why I've always been locked up during the full moon," Remus said. "But Pearl explained it to me... the reason we should be in packs is that it's easier to keep in control that way. When members of a group with the same ideas in mind are together, they keep themselves in control. I wish.. I wish you'd been there, when Zander and Pearl and the rest of the pack let me help them fight against Greyback's pack. They were going to attack the humans, and we all worked together to stop them, and not a single human was hurt. Don't you see, Kris? Maybe we can actually do some good this way."

Zander nodded. "Nice to meet you, Dean... I'm sorry ithad to be like this. Come on, let's see if we can find our things. Pearl, we'll meet you guys back here in a bit, OK?" Dean walked back towards the camp with Zander. He felt very strange, powerful. Every scent seemed stronger, and every sound was louder. He glanced over at Zander. "I don't get it," he said at last. "Why are you helping me? You attacked me and turned me into a werewolf, right?" |

We run in packs, so that we can keep our heads better. But I was alone when I changed... it was harder to control." He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. Zander frowned. He didn't particularly like having the kid talk about Pearl that way. "Yes, Pearl is my mate," he said. "We're the leaders of our pack. You'll meet everyone else when we get back to the house. Right now, we all stay at Chloe's house, except for Remus and Kris."
