Gerard nodded. "Not to sound out of it or anything, but do you mind me asking what did happen last year??" True, it was his fourth year and all. But last year, Gerard wasn't at all in the loop and basically spent his time alone. Whether it was during lunch, in the library, or on the fields, he always seemed to be by himself... Maybe his mum was right about this whole friends thing.

Jon sighed. "Well, there were several Hogwarts students' deaths. Plus too, it seems like there's been some trouble with werewolves," said Jon. "Ever since then, it seems like everyone is trying to be careful and everything. We don't want anymore bad things to happen, but we know that there will be more bad things to happen with you-know-who coming to power. We're just trying to keep the bad things happening to a minimum. You understand, right?"

"Oh. Yea, I understand." How could Gerard not know of this. "Out of the Loop" more like "Out of this World" Gerard just laid there. He couldn't help but feel that he was annoying Jon with all these questions. And now he felt he had gone to far.
He decided that maybe he should obey Jon's wishes and go to sleep. But it felt a little awkward seeing as everyone else was wide awake. He continued to stare at the ceiling.
