Dallas M'boy,
As you know it has been many years since my daughter, Kiara, went to finishing school. It would do my heart well were you to check in on her now and again with you being in London and all.
Sincerely,
Ray Seaton

This had been a difficult letter for Kiara's father to write. Notably the man's gruff business manner led him to quickly cut to the chase. Ray wasn't the type to write something lengthy hiding his meaning behind his words, but for a man as proud as Ray was such a letter was almost unfathomable. It spoke volumes of how much he missed his daughter, and how Brett was one of the few men he trusted in the whole world.
There were a few blots on the paper noting where the quill had laid idle for a few minutes as he thought what to write, and how to phrase his request. It was awkward for a man who didn't make many, and Brett would be one of the few men to notice if he did happen to notice.
Brett was also one of the few men who knew about his heart condition, which Ray may or may not have been counting on in guilting the man he considered to be like a son to him into checking on his daughter whom he hadn't seen in seven years, and who stopped penning him after her requests to come back home were denied. Yes he missed his daughter, but Cynthia (Kiara's Aunt) had made a damned good case in taking Kiara away. He was a man, and he didn't know how to raise a girl, were he to keep Kiara with him it would likely be the girl's ruin, and he couldn't do that to his daughter, no matter how much he missed her. He was counting on Brett to perhaps tell him that she was okay...and maybe even send him a photograph.
