Cyrus looked in the mirror and straightened out his coat. Tonight, he was dressed nicely since he was taking Lina out to a fancy resturant out in London. He figured that it would be better if he took her someplace other than just around home. Roland would probably be happy that he was finally doing what he should have a long time ago. Cyrus hadn't told anyone of his plan and he was proud of himself for that.
Taking the ring that he had in his drawer, he slipped it into his pocket. Tonight was supposed to be for new beginnings, right? Maybe he could start of the new year the right way, and that would be with Lina as more than just a girlfriend.
Looking for one more second, Cyrus left their apartment and went to Lina's brother's to pick her up. He had still been almost mysterious about where he was taking her for dinner, but he did tell her to make sure she dressed nicely.
Arriving, he took a breath and knocked on the door.

Lina still adored Cyrus and loved him more than anything... that was why it was so hard to be near him sometimes, that fear nagging at her that he just didn't feel the same.
But the butterflies he gave her never went away, and she was actually nervous for tonight. She wanted to look pretty for him. Her hair was curled and for the first time in a long time, she was dressed in a really pretty black dressed that accentuated her curves nicely. It was hard to tell she was a mother, actually.
When she heard the knock, she went into Jensen's room and thanked him again for watching Mara for her.
Then, she opened the door and let herself out. "Hi, Cyrus."

Lina would never cease to amaze Cyrus. When the door opened, he forgot how to breathe. "Lina," he said in slight awe as he took in her appearance. "Hi." Breathe Cyrus he told himself. His breathing picked up again and a smile grew on his face. "You look beyond beautiful." He wasn't sure how to describe what she looked like. Lina always looked beautiful in whatever she was in.
"Ready to go?"

Lina broke into a wide grin. She was successful in looking pretty for him.
"You look quite dashing yourself, Cyrus," She told him, and Merlin, he did. He was just as able now to sweep her off her feet as he had been the day they met. "Happy New Years."
When he asked if she was ready to go, she nodded. "Are you going to tell me yet where we're going?"

"Thank you," he said a little flushed. "And Happy New Year's to you too." Cyrus reached out and took her hand. "If I tell you now, it wouldn't be that much of a surprise." His smile turned into an excited boyish grin. "But I'll finally tell you where we're going when we get there." Cyrus gave her a wink and held a little tighter onto her hand.
"We can apparate nearby where we're going." In fact, the restaurant wasn't that far from the Leaky Cauldron in London. He was going to apparate to the Leaky Cauldron, then walk a few buildings down. "I'm sure that you'll love it."

Lina smiled. "I believe you that I'll like it. Afterall, you picked it." He made it so easy sometimes to remember exactly why she fell in love with him. She just wished they could stop fighting.
She moved closer to him, urging him to put his arm around her, and said, "Well, I'm ready to go whenever you are, but since you're being so secretive, you're going to have to apparate the both of us."

He did pick the place, but he took his time trying to decide where he wanted to go. During the time that he was home alone, he had plenty of time to figure out where to go. This restaurant just stuck out in his mind and he thought it would be perfect, so he found a way to make a reservation for them.
"Of course I'll apparate us there," he said as she moved closer. Cyrus wanted to pull her to him and just kiss her like there was no tomorrow, but he refrained and put his arm around her. He didn't want her to somehow get away from him while they apparated.
"Here we go." With that, there was a pop! and they were gone from Jensen's house to the Leaky Cauldron. "Come on, we just have a short walk to go." Cyrus took her hand and led her out of the Leaky Cauldron and toward the restaurant. Upon arriving, the waiter at the door asked if they had a reservation. "Ferrera," Cyrus told him simply. The man nodded and led them to a table near the window.
Arriving at the table, Cyrus pulled Lina's chair out and waited until she was seated before taking his own seat.

Lina was actually mildly impressed with his choice of restaurants.
"You know, Cyrus," she said as she sat down, and watched him take his own seat. "I would have been just as happy staying home and eating. You didn't have to do this for me. Although..." She looked around and smiled. "I'm not complaining."
It had been a long time since she had been somewhere this nice.

"Of course I had to do this," said Cyrus. "I think that you would like it, besides if I invited you to stay home, it would have defeated the purpose of me bugging the people here to get a reservation." He was relieved that Lina actually agreed to go with him and he didn't have practically get on his knees and beg. Although, if he had to, he knew that he probably would have. He smiled and their waiter appeared giving them menus.
"What do you want to drink Lina?"

They were at a nice restaurant, and they were celebrating New Years. Normally, she would have just asked for water or tea, but this felt like a special occassion. She smiled at the waiter, and then looked at Cyrus.
"Why don't we get champagne?" She asked.

"Sure," he said then looked up to the waiter who nodded. He turned away and walked off while Cyrus turned to Lina. "Thank you for coming. To be honest, I had this planned out before I even asked you. I'm not sure what I would have done if you would have said no."
Hopefully after tonight, he wouldn't have to ever worry about her saying no again. The waiter returned and poured two glasses. Cyrus glanced over the menu, unsure of what to get. "Have you decided what you would like or do you need a few more minutes?"

Lina just smiled. "I wouldn't have said no, Cyrus." Not to a date. She knew they both still loved each other so much. Sometimes, the timing was just wrong. She wished it could be right for them, though. They deserved a happy ending.
"Oh... I can be ready if you are," Lina said, quickly scanning the menu again. She hadn't been anywhere this nice in a long time, and everything sounded so good. She wondered what he was getting.

He wouldn't have minded waiting until came to a good decision about what she wanted to eat. In fact, he would have waited on her for anything. He liked the fact that she always took her time getting ready, and she never had made them late for anywhere. It was always worth waiting on her because she could knock the breath from him no matter what she wore.
Cyrus scanned down the menu one more time. "I suppose I'll go with the filet of beef with potato," he said looking up to the waiter then over to Lina.

Lina smiled at the waiter and ordered the smoked salmon. The waiter nodded and took their menus, leaving them alone again.
The restaurant was beautiful, and she wondered how Cyrus found it, but didn't ask.
Lifting her champagne glass, she shrugged and said, "Happy New Year, Cyrus." Inwardly, she really hoped it would be a chance to start over.

Once the waiter was gone, Cyrus lifted his glass as well. "Happy New Year to you too Lina." A smile was on his face again. This year would be right for them, or at least he hoped. He didn't think of the bad consequences if she would have said no, other than it would have probably crushed him.
"You know, we should take Mara to the park whenever the weather starts warming up. I'm sure that she would like that, while we get her walking," Cyrus suggested. By the time the weather warmed, he hoped that Lina would already be his wife by then.

Lina smiled wider and nodded. "You know what, she's just recently become fascinated with birds... I bet she would really like feeding the ducks in the park."
Mara was the one thing that could keep them together, if nothing else, she thought. "You know, she's beautiful. We did something incredible with her." She ached to tell Cyrus how much she missed him, but took a sip of her champagne instead.

"As long as she doesn't think she can go into the water like a duck," said Cyrus with a laugh. Mara was something else, he had to admit that. She was a special little girl and Cyrus wouldn't trade her for the world.
"Yeah. We did do something incredible with her." He smiled. "But you know, I think she takes more after her mother though. Those eyes of hers work on just about anyone." Cyrus took another drink of champagne.

Lina laughed as well. Cyrus was right. Knowing Mara, the girl would be so curious about the ducks, she'd want to go swimming with them. "Yeah, she's a fearless little thing," she said.
She was slightly discouraged by his compliment though, as obviously her eyes didn't work so great on him, but she smiled anyway. "I think she's the best of both of us, to be honest."

Only if Lina knew how much her eyes did work on him. They always worked on him, except the fact that he could be stubborn beyond belief. Even if her eyes didn't seem to work on him in the long run, the look that she would give him would remain in his mind. They did work on him, because he was finally going to be doing what he should have done a while back.
"I suppose so." A light smile crossed his face. The waiter returned with their meal and Cyrus knew that he should do it soon. He had an idea of what he was going to tell her. He knew better than to plan it all out because he would have forgotten it. As he glanced over to Lina, his eyes would give it away that he had something planned.

Talking about Mara was easy. A common link that wouldn't lead to a fight. If nothing else, Cyrus knew how to be a good daddy to that little girl.
She took after Cyrus in the fact that she was a little daredevil. She was fearless, and Lina loved it. And despite what Cyrus said about Mara inheritting her eyes, she swore she saw Cyrus staring at her through Mara's eyes.
"This is delicious," Lina said, taking a bite of her dinner. "How's yours?"
