Botanical Gardens did not have any bad damage done to it after the Hogsmeade attack. Of course, word of the attack had reached McKenna's ears, but luckly she was no where near Hogsmeade. She had travelled back to Ireland that day, just to capture some of the countryside on paper. After that, she returned back to her apartment to finish working on the drawing she drew of the countryside. She painted it from what she had drawn, which took her a few days to finish. Now the finished product was hanging in her apartment.
Today, she was going to the Gardens to simply draw for pleasure. McKenna didn't have anywhere else to be. She had her bag, containing her drawing pads and a few different pencils.
McKenna stopped in front of a beautiful orchid and looked for a bench nearby. She took a seat, which the bench was right beside it, and pulled out her pad and pencil and started to lightly sketch out the beginning shapes of the orchid.

Maia loved going to the botanical gardens. Not only did it give her ideas for her own garden, but it was also a peaceful oasis away from the busy town. She had been happy that it didn't sustain much damage in the attack. If the garden had been ruined, she would have been devastated.
Today she was just walking idly around the gardens, taking in the beauty and fresh air, when she saw a familiar figure sitting on a bench, pad and pencil in hand.
"McKenna!" she said happily, running to her would-be sister in law. "When did you get home?"

"Maia," she said looking up and smiling. She would reconize Maia's voice from anyone's. There was always a happy tone to it. McKenna put down her pad and pencil and hugged Maia. "I've actually been home." She gave a sheepish look. "I was just painting and it took me a couple of days to do it. As soon as I got back I went straight to my apartment to paint my drawing on canvas."
McKenna couldn't help it. When she started painting, she didn't leave her apartment until her work became a finished product. "I'll bring you and Chase a copy of it as soon as I make one. Anyway, how have you been lately?"

"That would be great," Maia said enthusiastically. "You know Chase and I would hang your paintings all over my walls if I had enough wall space."
Maia settled down on the bench next to McKenna and peered over her shoulder at the drawing she was doing. "It's very pretty. I imagine you can find a different thing to draw or paint every day in this place. I love it here."
She sighed happily and leaned back against the back of the bench. "Chase and I are doing great."

"And you can say that you own a few of my first art pieces whenever I finally become famous," she said with a laugh. McKenna never drew or painted just so that she could become famous. She did it because it was a passion of hers, a very strong passion that she wasn't going to give up.
"The Gardens is my favorite place to come to for plants. I have a few more stored in my apartment of a couple plants in here."
As Maia said that her and Chase were great, a wide smile spread across her face. She couldn't have asked for a better girl to be with her brother. "That's wonderful! I'm glad that the two of you are happy."

Maia laughed. "I only hope that you still remember me when you become rich and famous," she said. "You will one day, I'm sure of it. Your art is just too good to go undiscovered. You know, I heard there was an art gallery opening up in town. You should check it out when it does. I bet you could get your stuff displayed in there. Wouldn't that be great? And people would come from miles around to see your work."
It seemed like a bit of a crazy idea to open a gallery in Hogsmeade now, with everything that was going on. But she was glad that the owner wasn't letting the attack get in the way.
"I love the plants here, too. I'm planning to add a few more things to my garden... I just don't know what yet."

"Of course I'll remember you! You're pretty much like another sister so I couldn't forget you." The art gallery opening sounded like a good idea. She would see about going by there or contacting the person that owned the gallery. Of course, McKenna knew that she would work twice as hard to get more paintings and drawings done before she would have a show.
"I honestly like the delphiniums, lupins, bluebells, and snowdrops," she said. "You know, I could always draw your garden and it could be one of my paintings. I've always liked to look at it because of the different variety and of course you do a great job of keeping it going."

Maia's garden was a point of pride for her. It was her own little space, and she worked hard to make it beautiful. She had a real talent with plants, keeping them strong and healthy, planting different flowers for different seasons, melding the colors together perfectly. While she was good at cooking and sewing, gardening was her true passion.
"I would love it if you would paint my garden," she said.

A smile appeared on McKenna's face. "Great! Your garden can be my next big project to work on. I'll make two copies of it. I'll let you have the first and I can keep the second which can go into my collection so far."
McKenna didn't know of anyone else that kept a beautiful garden like Maia did. Of course, she envied her for it. She was never able to keep flowers alive for too long, but then again she was either always busy or always out drawing.

Maia beamed, her pride evident in the pink tint of her cheeks. "Imagine that! One day my little garden could be famous," she said excitedly. "I know one day, you're going to be famous. And then people will come from all around to see the beautiful garden that inspired you. Maybe I can charge admission," she teased. "Oh, and I could sell refreshments and souvenirs. Then I could quit working at Madam Malkin's. Not that I mind it, of course... but it's so hard sometimes. I just don't get any respect."
Her eyes darkened, but for only a moment. "Anyway, now that you're home, you really should stop over some night for dinner. I know Chase would love to see you."

McKenna laughed. "You'd make a bunch of money if you charged admission and sold refreshments along with souvenirs." Maia felt like she was another sister and close friend to McKenna.
Noticing Maia's eyes darken for a second, McKenna nodded. There were sometimes that she would actually forget about eating because she would be so wrapped in her artwork. "Dinner sounds lovely." She had plenty of food in her own place, but Maia's cooking was much better than her own."I could come by anytime this week."

Maia smiled. "That'll be great. You don't even have to owl first... just come on over. Chase will be so thrilled to see you. He sees Adrienne every day, you know, but he misses you. Oh! If you know ahead of time what day you're coming, maybe I can get Adrienne to come, too! Wouldn't that be nice? All three of you together.... plus me, of course."

"Let's plan for tomorrow. I should be finished with this drawing and painting by then," she said. "I feel like I haven't seen Chase, you, or Adrienne in ages. It would be great if the four of us could be together for dinner." McKenna smiled. She wasn't quite sure as to way her brother wasn't married to Maia, but she knew better than to question anything like that. "I would never think to leave you out of anything. Which reminds me, I haven't actually really painted or drawn people lately. If you have some free time, care to help me out? I mean, it doesn't have to be tomorrow or anything, there's no rush. I just mean at some point in time."
