Jonesy sat on one of his usual benches on the ground floor of the castle, watching the people...ladies...walk by. Every once and a while he'd flash a flirty grin or wink at a passing by girl. Occasionally he'd even drop a pick up line or two, as long as the girl in question wasn't walking with her boyfriend.
Jonesy leaned forward a little and saw a Gryffindor girl a year behind him walking down the stairs toward his general direction. What was her name? Something that had to do with numbers right? What was she into? Books, Charms, Quidditch? Jonesy couldn't for the life of him remember.
Roman. That was her name. She was close to walking by him and Jonesy stood up. He nodded at her and smiled widely. "Hey," he said, trying to sound as charming as possible.

Roman was walking to the common room, thinking of all the homework she was going to attempt to do. There had been a particularly hard charm she should have learned. Her thoughts were interupted by none other then a Gryffindor boy. She knew of him, his name was Jonesy Duggan. All of the girls knew Jonesy, and his somewhat fetish of females. She looked up to see him looking at her.
She gave him a curious look. He was talking to her. She said 'hey' very softly before continuing walking. Roman didn't know him very well, but she wasn't quite sure what he wanted from her. If it was important, he'd just keep following her.

She didn't stop. A quick and quiet responce and then she kept walking. Jonesy scratched his head a bit, confused by the girl that just walked past. After a few minutes he followed after her, comming up quickly next to her. "Where are ya goin?" Jonesy asked, deciding that he should try and get her talking, learn more about Roman.

She closed her eyes, he was following her. Maybe he wanted to copy her homework. SHe night have said yes if she had done it.
"To the common room."
Roman didn't have rehersal that day, and she wasn't a liar. So she didn't have an excuse to keep Jonesy away from her. For no particular reason, she just had the feeling that Jonesy and her wouldn't get along if all he wanted from her was her homework. She hated being used more then anything.

"Oh, um...cool," Jonesy said. This doesn't happen. This girl Roman, she doesn't speak. How in the world was he supposed to figure this girl out if they don't at least talk?
He noticed she was carrying a book, probably to go do homework or something. Jonesy made a mental note to do his own charms homework...later.
"Common room? Me too," Jonesy said, continuing to walk next to her. "Mind if I walk with you?" he offered. It was a long walk up to the common room.

Roman slid him a look from the corner of her eyes, not changing her apathetic expression. She was incredibley confused on what he wanted from her. Walking her to the common room would be awkward, and not to mention the distance. Being rude wouldn't be any help, and Roman wasn't talkitive enough to be considered bad mannered. She clutched her book tighter to her body.
Instead she just shrugged, "if you'd like."

"Oh I'd very much like," Jonesy nodded as he walked with Roman for a little bit. He racked his brain for advice his sisters would have given him. "So, um..." Jonesy thought. "Been following the tournament?" Jonesy asked after seeing a random student walking the other way and sporting a support button.

"No." Roman responded simply, and kept up her pace. She didn't really understand it all, but she was supporting of all the contestants. Of course, she was behind Alice, but pride and school functions weren't her thing. The cheering was too loud, and it almost scared her. Roman didn't have a connection to it all.

"Oh," Jonesy said to her deadpan. "That's cool, I guess...." She quickened her pace and so did he, not discouraged yet. "What's the book for?" Jonesy asked, though he had already assumed it was schoolwork. "Homework? That's cool, I was always pretty comfortable with charms, but i couldn't get Transfiguration in the slightest. How about you?" he spoke quickly.

Roman was incredibley tense at this point. No one made this much of an effort to talk to her, and her discomfort levels were soaring. She debated letting her hair out of it's bun just to cover her face so he didn't see her expression. Luckily, she was good at acting as if nothing was wrong, she danced all the time. No pain no game.
"They're alright," she said quietly.

Jonesy sighed, he felt defeated a little. Roman was hard to crack. Her saw her tense up and wondered if he had done something wrong. "Are..." he satrted. "Are you alright? I didn't mean to upset you if i did..." Jonesy said sincerely. He had 3 older sisters, he knew random things could upset the average female sometimes, but he hoped he hadn't done that. At least, not yet, so soon in his game.

"Of course," she said a little sharply. Roman didn't like it when people just assumed she was upset when she didn't say much. But maybe it was just Jonesy in particular she didn't seem to get along with. Everything he said seemed to have some deeper quality to it that made it seem a lot less friendly then it should have been. Roman's pace nor her posture changed. She concentrated on her steps, taking them one at a time.

"Oh, good," Jonesy said, taken aback by her sharp remark. He didn't know what else to say. He didnt mean to make her upset. This was a more "to get to know you" adventure than just hitting on some random girl. Jonesy shook his head slightly. It was Roman:1 Jonesy:0 in his book, and he placed his hands in his pockets, watching his feet and continuing to walk next to Roman.

Roman felt terrible after he shoved his hands in his pockets. She didn't know him personally, and he looked defeated. Roman wasn't good in the friends category, but she certainly didn't like to be mean. She had never treated anyone like that, not even the people who disrespected her. Instead, she turned to him and said, "do you follow the tournament?"
There, it seemed friendly, but she was still a little wary of his intentions. He was Jonesy, he had a reputation. And Roman was not going to follow a trend.

His normal responce would have been 'oh yea, I watch the tournament, it's all girls! A group of storming hippogryffs couldn't keep me away...' but he figured that, with Roman, that wasn't the best thing to brag about. So instead he replied with a smile, glad that she had made convorsation, and said, "Yea, I've been following it, Alice did really well in the first task, don't you think?" Jonesy left the question open thinking that, even if Roman didn't follow it, she'd have to have some sort of opinion about their house champion.

"I hope so," Roman kept her gaze on the floor. He hadn't quite proved himself yet, and one friendly somewhat casual remark didn't erase an entire history. "She works very hard." Roman hadn't ever talked to Alice, but she knew that Alice was nice, at least. That was always a good quality to look for in new friends. But Jonesy seemed a little less on edge at this point.

"Yea, she is," Jonesy agreed. Jonesy smiled as they silently walked, completely comfortable for some unknown reason to him. Jonesy was used to fast talking, flirting with any girl that passed. But Roman, for some reason, was different, and Jonesy figured that, if he could get her to talk a little more, they could be good aquantances....maybe even friends.
"So," Jonesy asked, spinning around so that he was walking backward, but still next to Roman. "May I ask you something?"

Roman nodded, unsure of how to continue the conversation. She shifted her books down to her side, rather then tightly across her chest, a sublte sign that she was loosening up a little, even if she hadn't noticed it herself. They walked in silence for a while before he almost startled her with a question. "Sure." If she didn't feel like answering it, or it made her too uncomfortable, she could just not answer it.

Jonesy smiled when Roman moved her book, she wasn't as uptight, which was good. "Well, okay, don't tak this the wrong way," Jonsey put up his hands in defence. "But do you, well, talk?" Jonesy smiled apologetically. "Like, we're half way to the common room and you've said all of....maybe 10 words.... I was just wondering why?"

Roman had never been asked that question in that form before. She reacted by shooting him surprised look. Of course she talked, she just didn't have much to say. Or she would think she sounded a little ridiculous with all she could. Responding with a shrug might prove his point.
"Yes," she replied softly. "I do. But what is there to say?"
