Fabian was eager to see Riley again, however he wasn't going to do it just the next day. It would have made him seem desperate. He wasn't desperate, and he didn't want her to think that. He had gotten busy with work, and never had a chance to go to lunch. It was unlike Fabian to just skip meals, but he had a lot to do.
Once he was able to take a break, he thought that it would be a idea to see Riley again. It wasn't too soon, and she probably needed a break. Standing up from his desk, Fabian noticed an orange daisy and he grabbed it. It wasn't like anyone was using it or ever paid attention to it.
He walked over to Riley's desk and cleared his throat. "Working hard?"

Riley was deeply engrossed in her work, anything to keep her distracted from her partner, who was sitting at his desk across the room. They had just gotten into one of the bigger fights they had, and Riley just wasn't in the mood. Everytime she thought they were getting along, one of them said something or did something and they'd be back to square one.
Which said a lot for Fabian and the smile he caused when she looked up and saw him. She wasn't expecting him, and it was a nice surprise. "You have perfect timing," she told him, getting to her feet to say hello.

"I try," he said smiling. Fabian pulled the orange daisy from behind his back and offered it to her. The bold color of the flower reminded him of her once he thought about it. "Thought that you might like this, and of course some kind of break. This week has been intense." He knew that Riley always threw herself into her work, but he liked to see the side of her whenever she wasn't working. She went along with him with his joking comments, rather than look at him like he was foolish.
"And I hope you don't mind leaving your work for a bit. I finally managed to get caught up, and thought that you could probably use some kind of stress reliever."

Riley smiled and her whole attitude seemed to relax. "Oh, it's very pretty, Fabian," she said, taking the flower from him, and she leaned forward, giving him a quick kiss. (She felt safe doing this... it wasn't like they hadn't already kissed before). She picked up her wand and waved it once, and a small vase with water appeared on her desk, which she set the daisy in. It matched the bracelette she was wearing, too.
She turned back to Fabian, a slight frown on her lips. "You want to go now?" She asked. "I have-" she looked back at the papers on her desk. They were really just old reports from the case, and it wouldn't hurt to leave the office for a little while. "You know what? Nevermind. I would love a break right now."

He wasn't paying attention to whoever was around them, much like he always did. Fabian never really paid that close attention to who was around him ever. "I thought you'd say something like that," he said with a grin.
"Don't frown at me. You need to take a break. Those things are not going anywhere, I promise they'll be there whenever you get back." He smiled again as she decided to go with him. "Great. Shall we go," he asked holding out his hand.

"Just because it will still be here doesn't mean I won't be thinking about it," Riley pointed out. "But I have a suspicion that you'll make sure I don't."
Riley took one last look at her desk. She would be fine. She was allowed to take breaks. In fact, no one could really fault her one right now. It had been such a long day, at it was only just past noon. She took it as a sign that he showed up when he did, and set her hand in his. "Let's go," she said.

"You know me well," he said with a joking look. "While we grab lunch, we can't have you thinking about work. We'll just have to come up with something else and run with that. After all, you do look like you've been working extremely hard and its time for you to relax. I am just here to help you." Fabian gave her a sort of boyish look and smiled.
Once she took his hand, Fabian led her away from her desk. "Now, don't you feel better already?"

Riley rolled her eyes. "Yes, yes, I feel loads better," she told him sarcastically, but the truth was, she did feel better. Walking away from her desk alone was leaving behind a headache, but leaving with Fabian was leaving behind a world of stress, too. He really did have very good timing, and she wondered if it was luck or if he just knew.
"So, where are we going?" She asked.

Fabian laughed at her sarcasm. "I'm glad you feel that way," he said giving her a wink. He continued to led her out of the auror department. "Not the cafeteria," he said with a shake of his head. "I don't even know what they're having, but I don't think I want to know either." Fabian gave a little shudder. "We are going to eat somewhere sort of near the Ministry. You're overdo to have a decent lunch break, so we're going to take our time at lunch. Anyway, its this little place I like to go to every now and again that has just about anything you can think of. I think you'll like it."

Riley laughed when he ruled out the cafeteria. "Hey, it's not always bad. Sometimes their food is edible," she joke.
When he desribed where they were going, Riley gave hm a look. "Could you be any more vague?" Riley asked. Sort of near the Ministry, they had everything, and so on. He was good at being secretive, whether or not he was trying.
"I can't be the only one long over do for a good lunch," she said. "Surely you've been working hard to?" It was her conversational way of asking how he had been. She didn't want to admit it, but she kind of missed him since their omelette dinner the other night.

"Its edible if you want to die," Fabian said grinning. He wasn't even sure if what the cafeteria usually fixed was really meat or not, but he wasn't going to try it.
"And I could be a little more vague. After all, I could have just told you, somewhere, and that would have been it." He gave her another wink. Fabian was being secretive yes, but that was perfectly fine. He wasn't going to just tell her, he did want to surprise her just a little.
"I have been," he said with a nod. "I think that this week has been more busy than any other week, but things have slowed just a little, and my stomach started rumbling. I thought that today I would actually go out to lunch and I didn't want to go by myself. I rather have pleasurable company than eat alone, so I thought that you should come along. You'll get something good to eat, rather than going to the cafeteria."

"Well, appearantly, I'd only go to the cafeteria if I wanted to die," Riley laughed. "I like the coffee there, though. There's something about cheap coffee that I just can't get enough of."
The rest of the food was horrible, though, he was right. Going out would be a nice change, and she had a little colour to her cheeks that he remembered and didn't blow her off.
"Well, I'm quite honored that you think of me as pleasurable company, Fabian."

Fabian only shook his head with a smile on his face at the mention of the coffee. "It's only good if you add a lot of sugar to it." It was always the way he drank his coffee, with extra sugar.
"Well, I'm quite honored that you are willing to be seen with me out in public, and even considered going to lunch with me." He smiled and led her out of the department, and into the hustle and bustle of the rest of the Ministry.

"Are you kidding? Sugar kills it. I like it black," Riley said about the coffee. It just didn't have that same "wake me up" zing sweetened. "But I'll remember the sugar next time I bring you coffee," she added with a smile. She hadn't brought him coffee yet, but she would.
"I'm actually just glad to see you again at all, Fabian," she told him, her cheeks blushing just a little as she said it. She kept her eyes up and open, wondering where he was taking her.

"Sugar helps me get going," said Fabian smiling. "Plus, I happen to like sweets." When it came to candy, and sugary stuff, Fabian was the one that usually had it all. "You, bring me coffee? I think that should be other way around, don't you?"
The pink tint to her cheeks seemed to help light her face up. "You had your doubts," he asked teasingly. "I am a man of my word, besides, last time we had a meal together, it was fun. Why pass up a chance like that again?" Fabian gave her a wink, then led her skillfully through the people and out of the Ministry, into London's streets. He took a left and started to walk to a small restaurant.
Once they arrived there, Fabian picked a table, then pulled out Riley's chair for her to sit.

Riley shrugged. "I don't see why it has to be the other way around. Am I not allowed to do something nice for you?"
She didn't comment when he observed that she doubted whether or not he'd see her again. Maybe she had, but it wasn't something that was eating at her. She would have been disappointed, but not heartbroken.
"Such a gentleman," she commented as he pulled out her seat, and she smiled, thanking him. She looked around the restaurant, wondering what drew Fabian to it.

"You are already doing something nice for me," he said. "You agreed to come to lunch with me, even though you could have said no." Fabian winked at her. Once she was seated in her chair, he gave a slight bow, with a grin appearing on his face. "Well, thanks to Molly and mum I do try." Fabian gave a laugh and took the chair opposite her.
The waiter appeared and handed them menus. Fabian knew the waiter by name, and he greeted him friendly. This was the first time that Fabian ever showed up in the resturant with someone other than a sibling, or just himself. "They have just about anything you want," he said opening up the menu. "I like to try something different every time I come here, and to be honest, I haven't been let down yet."

"Why on earth would I have said no?" Riley couldn't help but smile. He was laying it on pretty thick, but that was just him. He was a sweetheart by nature.
"You already won me over, you know. You don't have to keep being so nice."
She was really bad at the dating thing, if what they were doing was considered dating yet. She liked to think it was. But she wondered how long it would be before he realized how hesitant and nervous she could be about this, and if it would scare him off. But it was lunch, and these thoughts were too heavy for lunch, so she let them go and resolved to have fun and relax. She was allowed to do that.
"You know what? I'm just going to pick something at random then, and we'll see how good it is."

"Well, you might have been completely wrapped up in our work and just told me no. In that case, I would have picked you up and literally carried you to lunch," he said with a smile.
"And being nice is what I do. Of course, I have to practice my gentlemanly skills sometime as well. I sure can't practice them on Gideon." Fabian gave a laugh and took a seat across from Riley. Right now, Fabian was relaxed and was taking things as they came.
"That's the way to do it. Everything here is good, I promise."

"If I told you no at all, it would only be because I didn't realize it was you asking me." Riley laughed a little. "That's actually happened before... I do get kind of wrapped up." She had to admit, the thought of him just picking her up and carrying her out of the Ministry kind of made her blush.
"I imagine your mother and your sister make you practice being gentleman skills quite often. You are rather good at them. But I don't mind if you want to practice on me from time to time."
She looked at where her finger landed on the menu. "Well, that was simple. Looks like a soup for me today. What are you getting?"
