She was a little shocked at his question, but she did think that it was sweet of him to ask. Her cheeks turned pink. "Um," Alison began. She began running through her mind what was going on for Christmas. Her parents were gone on a trip and knew that they wouldn't be back until around New Year's. There would be no spending Christmas time with them, and she would be all alone in her apartment, watching Christmas shows. The more she thought about it, the more the reason why she shouldn't say no.
"I," Alison took in a breath, "would love to." Her cheeks grew warmer. "My parents are gone, and it will be better than spending Christmas alone." A smile grew on her face. "It'll be fun."

Geoffrey let out a huge sigh of relief. For several seconds there, he'd been sure she was about to say no. But she didn't. He almost couldn't believe it.
"Oh, thank Merlin... I thought maybe I was asking too much," he said. "Great, then... we're doing ours on Christmas day. We're going over my Aunt Cara's house on Christmas Eve for dinner with them... I won't drag you along to that. But I'd love for you to meet my parents and sister."
He was smiling so hard that he thought he might literally be glowing. "OK, then. This'll be fun. I can pick you up at 5:00 on Christmas day. Where do you live?"

"Sounds wonderful," said Alison with another smile. "After all, you did ask nicely, and you haven't turned out to be a crazed person, so I figure that it would be alright. Besides, I have quite enjoyed talking with you." Butterflies were flying around her in stomach as she was speaking. Part of her wanted to giggle like a little girl, but she would save that for whenever she got back to her place.
Geoffrey's smile made her smile remain on her face. "320A in Godric's Hollow." Now, Alison wasn't sure what she was supposed to wear. She knew that she should dress nice, but she didn't want to overdo it, or under-do it. "What exactly am I supposed to wear," she asked a little shyly.

"How do you know I'm not a crazed person?" he teased, wiggling his eyebrows suspiciously. "I could just be really good at pretending to be normal, to lull you into a false sense of security. You never know when I might strike! Muahahaha..."
He laughed wickedly, then stopped after a moment. "I'm just kidding. I'm afraid I do that a lot. If it gets annoying, feel free to punch me."
He switched gears almost effortlessly as she told him her address. "OK. 320 A. Godric's Hollow. Got it." He grinned slightly as she asked what she was supposed to wear. "Well, seeing as I haven't seen all of your clothes, I can't tell you exactly what you're supposed to wear, but I can maybe give you a basic idea. I would just say something nice. Muggle clothes are fine, if you prefer. Or robes. Whatever. We're pretty flexible with that sort of thing. I usually wear muggle clothes, but nice muggle clothes. Not like a T shirt and jeans."

She started to laugh as Geoffrey started to tease. Alison knew that she hadn't ever laughed or smiled as much in one day, as she had today in such a short amount of time. "I don't mind it, but I'll keep your advice in mind." She winked at him, before finished her sandwich.
Alison picked up her orange and attempted to start to peel it. "I can do muggle clothes. I have a closet full." She smiled again. A simple, yet nice dress came to mind. Maybe she would wear that, or maybe something else came to mind. "I'm looking forward to it."

"Here, let me help," Geoffrey said, reaching for her orange. He tapped it with his wand and uttered a simple spell. The peel fell off of the orange in perfect sections, and he looked up at her and grinned. "It only really works for oranges. Bananas are OK, but I don't like to hold the banana without the peel. You can use it on apples, but you have to be very careful."
Handing the orange back to her, he continued, "Muggle clothes are fine. I'll dress in muggle clothes, too, so that we match at least." He smiled. "I'm looking forward to it, too."

Alison handed over her orange. "Thank you," she said with a childish like grin on her face. "I didn't even know that they had spells for that. I usually peel my oranges with my hands, of course that always tends to have some dangerous results, like juice going everywhere. I'll have to remember that one though." Alison took back her orange and opened it up, tearing off the pieces to eat.
"I don't mind wearing robes, its just they get to hot sometimes. I mean, right now is alright, but you know what I mean. And thanks." After she put a piece of orange in her mouth, she offered him another piece. "Want one," she asked after swallowing.

Geoffrey shook his head and held up his apple. "No, thanks. I have my apple. But thank you."
He had so many questions he wanted to ask her, as he tried to get to know her. But there would be time, he told himself. Already they'd made so many plans for the future. He didn't want to rush things any more than they already were.
"So, do you live alone? Or do you have any pets?" he asked as he took a bite of his apple.

She continued to pull the pieces of orange apart. "I do live alone, but I do have a pet," she said. "My parent's house is not that far from mine, seeing as they also live in Godric's Hollow. I wanted a place on my own and at the time, and they were the ones buying it. It was sort of like a graduation present. They're gone most of the time, but its nice to know that they're right there if I need them for something." Alison started to smile again. "I have a puppy named Benji. He's a golden retriver and probably one of the best puppies. He hasn't really torn up anything, but then again I put a spell on everything in the place to make sure he couldn't tear it up."

"A puppy!" Geoffrey said, and his face seemed to light up. "I love dogs. I had one when I was younger. His name was Oscar... he was just a big, shaggy mutt. But I went everywhere with that dog... until I went to Hogwarts. I guess I understand why dogs aren't on the approved pet list at Hogwarts, but still... I missed him terribly while I was gone. He died in my second year, right in the middle of the term. I was devastated that I couldn't be there."
He looked sad for a moment, but it didn't last. Nothing ever kept him down for very long. "Anyway, I can't wait to meet little Benji. He sounds like a great dog."

The sight of Geoffrey's face being lit up made the smile on Alison's face remain. "I'm sorry about Oscar. My parents used to have one and we used to call her Lady. She used to think that she was the mother of the house whenever mum wasn't there. They never really told me what happened to her, but I think she just died of old age a while back. But I love to have a dog."
She laughed whenever she said he couldn't wait to meet Benji. "I think you'll like him. He hasn't that much experience with strangers, but I think he'll like you. Once you start to pet him, he won't let you stop. But like all puppies he likes to be playful and he's my alarm clock if I don't hear mine gone off. I didn't want to really live completely alone, and I found Benji in a pound."

Geoffrey smiled. "That's the best way to get a dog, I think. Oscar was from a pound, too. He wasn't the cutest dog there, but he was friendly and fun-loving... we connected immediately. He was my best friend growing up. I know it sounds dorky, but it's true. The good thing is, Benji will be good protection for you, too. Golden retrievers, when they get big, can sound pretty fierce."

"Benji's big blue eyes are what got me I think. He just had a look about him that I just had to take him home. Whenever I found him, he was pretty skinny, but luckly he got used to me pretty fast. Soon, he started getting a little fatter. Now I think he will eat almost anything given to him." Alison gave a laugh. "And I don't think it sounds dorky. I think Benji is probably my best friend now, even if he is just a puppy. And he already thinks he's twice as big as he is."

"But when he's bigger, he'll be trying to fit in places that he could only fit in when he was a puppy. They never really have a concept of their own size. The little ones always think they're bigger, and the big ones always think they're smaller."
Geoffrey's smile was irresistable as he continued. "Dogs really are the best, though. It's hard to be lonely when you've got a dog around. They're always doing something funny. I remember one time, we went out and left four boxes of cookies on the table. Well, Oscar got into them and ate two of the boxes, but left the other two. Like he just decided, 'Oh, no... just two boxes for me. I'm full.'" He burst out laughing. "Of course, it wasn't so funny later, when he got sick. I had to clean it up..."

Alison laughed. "Luckly, Benji hasn't pulled anything like that, except the one time I think he thought he was helping me buy pulling out flour. He accidently poked a hole in the bag and we both were covered in it." She shook her head, but a smile remained.
Never had she talked about Benji, except to her parents, nor had she laughed as much with someone else. "I'm sure that you two will get along famously," she said with a hint of teasing.

"Well, I can't wait to meet him," Geoffrey said. "Does he like to play fetch? Or any other games? Oscar was terrible at fetch. His idea of fetch was to catch the ball in his mouth and then run around with it, so I had to chase him and get it away from him."
He laughed, then happened to glance up at the clock. "Wow... we've been talking a long time! It's after 12:30! We should probably get back... although, I really don't want to."

"He does like to attempt to play fetch. The ball that I have for him is a little too big for his mouth, but I've got to find a smaller one." She laughed at the image of a smaller Geoffrey chasing after Oscar. "So, in other words, he wanted you to play fetch."
Looking at the clock, Alison sighed. "12:30? I don't really want to go back to work either, but I suppose we have to." She didn't really want to go back to work. She rather sit right there at the table all day. Alison started to get her trash together. "I've had fun though. We have to do this again."

Geoffrey laughed. "Yeah, I think he was tired of doing all the work and wanted me to do a little fetching as well. That's a good way of looking at it."
As she started to clean up, he reluctantly did the same. "Yeah... the idea of going back to work right now sounds pretty miserable," he agreed. "Why don't we have lunch together tomorrow? I've got to introduce you to my friend Riley. She's an auror... but don't be jealous. She's seeing someone."

"Lunch tomorrow sounds great." Her smile was on her face again. "Why would I be jealous of you having a girl friend? I'm not that type of girl." Alison gave him a wink. She didn't get jealous easily. Besides, people are supposed to have all kinds of friends. There was nothing wrong with that.
Reluctantly, Alison started to stand up with her trash in hand. "I had a nice time today, so I am looking forward to tomorrow."

"Ah, not the jealous type, then?" Geoffrey said with a smile. "Well, that's good. I kind of hate to admit it, but I actually get along better with girls than I do with most guys. I mean, you saw me hanging out with those guys at the club the other night, and I have my quidditch thing, but we always have to do, you know... guy things. We don't talk. I like to talk, in case you haven't already guessed."
He stood up as well and followed her over to the trash can. "I had a nice time, too," he said. "Want me to walk you over to your department? Yours is closer than mine, so it's on the way."
