"I don't know. It just looks nasty, so I'm sure that they have a whole thing left over. I feel sorry for the one that decides to be brave enough to try it. It just looks like it would, move or something." Alison looked away from the meatloaf and walked over the the sandwiches with him.
Taking the turkey sandwich from Geoffrey, she smiled. "Why thank you," she said with a little bit of laughter. "And you have saved me from meatloaf as well as a salad. There's nothing wrong with eating one, but sometimes here the lettuce even looks a little iffy." Maybe from now on she would just make her own lunch and bring it. The cafeteria had many mystery meat days.

"I don't get it, you know?" Geoffrey said as he moved over to take an apple and a little cup of rice pudding. "They've got magic... how hard is it to make something decent? And if they can't make something decent, why are they in the business of food preparation? I mean... I can cook better than that."
He took a bottle of pumpkin juice from the display, then waited for her to make her selections before moving up to the cashier.

Alison grabbed an orange and a bottle of pumpkin juice. "I don't get it either, but I'll make you lunch one day and bring it for you to eat. It'll be far better than the cafeteria." She gave a smile. "I usually make a big pot of spaghetti every once in awhile, then freeze whatever I don't eat right away. It would make a fast dinner for those nights I come in too tired to really make anything. I was thinking about making another thing of it tonight since its been a little while since I made any and I'll bring you some to try."

Geoffrey smiled at her. "Really? You'd do that for me? I'm honored."
He was feeling much better than he had just an hour ago, when he'd sat in his office, worrying about coming to talk to Alison. He almost couldn't believe he'd been nervous about it before. She was as esy to talk to as she had been that night at the club.
"Well, I'm actually a pretty good cook, too," he said. "Or... at least... better than these people," he added in a whisper. "I make really good enchiladas. You should come over sometime, and I'll make them for you."

A light blush rose on her cheeks. "Like I said, its far better than the cafeteria." She smiled again. "So, you can expect a bowl of it tomorrow. All you would have to do is heat it up a little."
It didn't seem like Alison had been worrying about apologizing earlier. It seemed as if they had been talking for awhile and nothing ever got in the way. Quite honestly, she liked it that way.
Her cheeks tinted a light pink once again. "I can't say that I've ever had enchiladas, but they sound pretty good."

"Sounds great!" Geoffrey said with a grin. "I'll look forward to it. It's just as well, because I think tomorrow might be tuna casserole day." He winced in disgust, then laughed as he moved over to pay the cashier.
He looked around for an empty table where they could continue talking. "So, really? you've never had enchiladas? Riley introduced me to them... She's my best friend. They're good... lots of melted cheese and a spicy sauce... sometimes I use meat, and sometime I make them with beans or just cheese."

"Tuna casserole? That's just disgusting." How in the world did the cafeteria continue to cook horrible food? Usually everyone ended up getting sandwiches anyway, so it probably didn't matter what they actually cooked. "So, I'll defintely have you a bowl of spaghetti tomorrow and I'll even bring cheese to put on top."
Alison shook her head. "No, I've never had any. I've heard of them, but never made any. Although, I trust your cooking to be good." A guy that could cook went up in her book. There wasn't anything that she could point out that she didn't like about Geoffrey. "That sounds good any way you decide to make them and I'm looking forward to that."

"Well, we'll have to meet for lunch then," Geoffrey said. "What time do you normally go for lunch? I could meet you at your department and we can walk over together."
They moved over to a table that he chose, which was close to the back of the room and was fairly isolated. The light overhead had gone out, making for a darker, more intimate atmosphere. Geoffrey set down his tray, then pulled out her chair for her. "I'll tell you what. If my team wins at the quidditch game tomorrow, we'll celebrate by making enchiladas at my apartment. What do you say?"

"It varies," said Alison. "But I try to go between 11:30 and 11:45, just to get here before just about everyone else crowds in. So around there should be good, unless you want to wait until after that."
Once he pulled her chair out for her, Alison smiled at him. "Thank you," she said setting her tray down and taking a seat. She blushed slightly, but it wasn't really visible because of the lighting. "That sounds like a plan." She fought the feeling of making her smile wider. "So that means that you have to work extra hard tomorrow," she teased.

Geoffrey sat down across from her, stopping for just a second to look at her. She really was pretty.. even more than he'd realized that night at the club. He was going to have to remember to thank Riley for encouraging him to talk to Alison again.
"OK, so you like the early lunches, then?" he said. "I usually eat later, but early works, too. I like to avoid the crowds. And actually, now that I see that the sandwiches don't run out when you come early, I think I might do it more often."
He laughed at her comment that he'd have to work harder at the game. "Well, I do, anyway, if you're going to come cheer me on. I wouldn't want to make an arse of myself."

"I only do early lunches when I'm at work and didn't bring lunch with me," she said. "The earlier you get here, the better choices you have, so I just come shortly after they open before the noon rush comes in." Alison gave a shrug. "I like to avoid the crowds too. Whenever I first started working here, I made the mistake of coming at noon. Ever since then, I make sure that I get here before then."
She unwrapped her turkey sandwich and smiled again. "Well, I'll tell you what, win or lose, I'll still like you." At the realization of what she said, Alison blushed again, but she didn't add anything. Instead she just widened her smile a little and then opened her bottle of pumpkin juice.

Geoffrey felt his own face grow warm at her comment, and he busied himself by unwrapping his sandwich for a minute before looking back up at her, a shy smile on his face. "Thanks," he said. "I like you, too."
He felt like he couldn't stop smiling now, like the smile was permanently fixed on his face. "This is nice," he said. "If I had known it would be this nice, I would have tried to talk to you again right away, instead of waiting."

Alison immediately felt shy once he started to unwrap his sandwich, but whenever he smiled she did feel better. Another smile appeared on her face after his comment as well as her face turning brighter shade of red.
"You had your doubts about me," Alison asked with a fake gasp. She gave him a smile to let him know she was only kidding. "It's alright. At least it has happened now and things are okay."

Geoffrey shook his head quickly. "No... no, I didn't have doubts about you. I had them about myself. I thought... maybe you didn't like me. Like, maybe once you saw me in the light of day, instead of the dimness of the club, you'd realized I was really a hideous ogre or something." He gave an embarrassed laugh. "I'm not... right?"

She thought that his embarrassed laugh was cute. Tilting her head to the side slightly, she pretended to really study him, then smiled. "No, you're not an ogre," Alison said with a small laugh. "You're far better looking than one. And how could I have not not liked you? I had a great time dancing with you and I did agree to see you again, which was a first for me. And trust me, if I didn't like you, I would have told you so, me being shy or not."
Now, Alison thought that it was impossible not to like him. She found that she was enjoying herself around him and not to mention he was easy to talk to and cute.

Taking a bite of his sandwich, Geoffrey hid a shy smile as she talked about him. He liked her a lot, too, and he almost wondered if he should try to take it a little slower with her. Although he had dated before, he didn't think he'd ever really fallen in love. And he was already feeling more strongly about Alison than he ever had before. He didn't want to ruin it before it even started, but on the other hand, if he let himself get in too deep, too fast, it could have disastrous results.
But as he looked in her eyes, he felt all of that go out the window. "I think you're better looking than an ogre, too," he teased. "Much better."

"I would prefer to think so," Alison said smiling again. "And thank you." She wondered if now a permanent pink tint was going to remain on her face. Never in her life had she blushed as much in one day as she had so far.
Alison took a bite out of her sandwich. Today, she would be eating slower than she normally did. Usually, she would be alone for lunch. That didn't really bother her because she would just eat and then leave as soon as she got done to go finish work. Right now, she felt like she didn't want to go back to work for awhile at least, so she was going to take her time.

Geoffrey watched her as he started to eat his sandwich. The little pink tint on her cheeks was cute, and he had the urge to just keep flattering her, just to keep it there. When she smiled, it made him smile, too.
"So, why don't you tell me more about yourself?" he said. "Are you still close with your family? What kind of music do you like? Have you ever gone on a trip somewhere that you really liked?"

"Well, I'm an only child," said Alison. "But I guess I could say I'm sort of close to my parents. My dad is usually working. He loves muggle things, so he's always off discovering new things. My mum goes with my dad on his trips. It was always like that, so I would usually stay with my Grandmother over the summer and Christmas Break, if they were still gone. But I think I was closest to my Grandmother to be honest. Music wise, I like classical music to be honest. I also like that stuff that muggles call Rock. The American bands are pretty decent."
Alison paused for a moment to take a drink of juice. "As for trips, I really liked Romania and Hawaii. What about you? What about you and your family, music, and favorite places?"

"Ah... my family..." Geoffrey said, laughing. "I come from a pretty big extended family. Besides my parents, I have a sister, Christine. She's the adventurous one. You'd really like her, I think. And then, there's my uncle Edward and Aunt Sheryl. They each have one kid from a previous marriage, Samantha and Caleb. And my dad has two other younger brothers, Christopher and Anthony. And that's just my dad's side of the family!" He shook his head. "On my mother's side, there's her sister, my Aunt Cara, who married into the Ferrera family."
He gave her a funny look. "Ready to run away yet?"
