The attack had been only a few short weeks ago, and the town still looked like a war zone. Fortunately it was easier to rebuild in wizarding society than it was in muggle society. Stories had been coming out of the papers daily, theorizing on the reasons for the attack, speculations that it wasn't the fabled Lord Voldemort who ordered it, or reports about the reconstruction itself. Bambi was there for the truth. She was young and foolish enough to believe she could discover the real reasons for the attack, even when older more experienced journalists were still only able to speculate.
She had made notes on the structural damages from all the buildings in Hogsmeade. Taken a few pictures of things. She had talked to a couple of still shaken shop owners. Nothing seemed to make any sense to her. She took all of her information to the Three Broomsticks to compile it.

Bella had been making an attempt to not only catch up on all of the things that had been going on around the London area, and the Wizarding World in general, but also to keep up with all of the crazy mess that they now had going on. Nothing made sense really. She tried linking all of the normal things together, but after all she was a reporter, not a detective.
After several hours in Hogsmeade, sifting through remaining rubble, and speaking to some shop owners, Bella found herself in front of the intact Three Broomsticks. She shrugged to herself and headed inside, ready for a stiff drink that could possibly bring a new perspective to light for her. She was heading to the bar when she spotted a girl she had recognized from work. Bella approached her calmly, and smiled warmly.
"Hi, I'm Bella," she said, her hand extended to the woman. "I've seen you around the Daily Prophet. I am a reporter there too, now," she said happily. Hopefully the girl would have more information than she did because for once Bella felt at a loss.

Bambi had all of her notes and pictures spread out on the table in front of her when Isabella showed up. Bambi looked up and gave a warm smile, pushing all of her papers into one pile and turning over the top page so nothing could be read. Then she shook Isabella's hand. "Yes, we were sent a memo about you starting. Bambi," she said politely. "Care to join me?" She leaned over the table and pulled her bag off the seat so that Bella would have a place to sit if she wanted to.

Bella nodded warmly to Bambi and took the seat that the girl had just cleared off for her. She did notice that Bambi had covered her work up when Bella had approached. She didn't mind at all, because in a world of competetive journalism, and especially competing against a go-getter like herself, Bella would cover her work too, even though they did work for the same place.
"So, Bambi, from what I hear there has been some kind of attack here, and the evidence sure does back it up," she said, her head motioning towards the door of the pub, indicating the mass wreckage beyond those doors.
"Is there anything at all that you would be willing to share with me? I'm a bit of an outside right now, and it's one of the worst times to be completely out of touch with a certain area," she asked politely, her warm smile attempting to reassure Bambi that she would not screw her out of her story. She just wanted one of her own.

"Wow. You must have been living under a rock. Supposedly that Lord Voldemort ordered an attack on the village, which supposedly his Death Eaters followed through with. There were loads of deaths and as you can see the village was ruined. I haven't been able to get up to Hogwarts. They say they won't let reporters in yet. Something about trauma for the students..." Bambi shook her head. She knew it was all a conspiracy, she just had to figure out who was actually behind it and why.

Bella nodded her head, listening to the woman beside her. "Indeed, and it must have been some rock. I have been in Ireland, a bit cut off from the world. Yesterday was actually my first day back, so all of this stuff going on here is still pretty new to me," she said with a sigh. This story was going to be a doozy, she could already tell.
"Well I think it's about right time that this little puzzle gets worked out. I have starting places going in my mind, but we are going to need people who didn't die in the attack and get their first hand account of things," she said, more to herself than to Bambi. She wanted the story, personally. She almost felt as if her sister Daphne could be involved with it but there was no way of telling for sure if she was. It angered her to think that Daphne would consider being a part of this, but she had to let that anger go because she had no right accusing her sister with no proof.
Although she still couldn't shake that nagging feeling that Daphne was...
She put those thoughts from her mind and focused on the task at hand. She would need to get some facts from people, straight away. She pulled out a notepad and a quill and wrote down everything that Bambi had just told her. "Well this story is going to get a lot worse before it gets better, I can feel it," she stated, shaking her head sadly.

Bambi's mouth hung open slightly. The nerve of this woman. "Well if you think you can get an interview from one of those students, be my guest. I've already been up to Hogwarts twice and both times they've turned me away. And the MLE officers and Aurors aren't talking. They say they don't want to disturb their investigation." Bambi rolled her eyes. She was adamant that everyone just give her the information she required and when that didn't happen she was greatly displeased.

Bella felt a bit taken aback by the woman's attitude. She held face, not showing any emotions to the outburst that had been directed at her. She could literally feel the anger radiating off of Bambi.
"I apologize if I offended you in anyway, I assure you I meant no harm. I just have a confidence about myself that some people take the wrong way. Although I do have a reason for that confidence. I always get my story, and I would be willing to work with you I suppose, but I have a feeling that you are too proud for that," she said, a smug smile on her face, attempting to gauge the woman's reaction.
Bella did have a reason to be confident. The attacks had just happened and she had already gotten information out of one person about it. Now all she needed were witnesses. She knew she could complete the task at hand, but the real question was could she do it before someone else got to it?...

"Well you may be confident, but I've worked at the Daily Prophet for seven months now. I think I know how its done." She paused, thinking. "However, if you wish to try to get an eye witness to talk to you, I suppose that wouldn't be an awful idea." Bambi really was trying to be nice, but she had this arrogant, undeserved confidence about her that kept her comments sharp and rude. If she didn't want to befriend Bella, she wouldn't have invited her to sit in the first place. Bambi certainly did not think Bella could be of any help to her article. Bambi never thought she needed any help.
