It hadf been a week and a half since Meghan and Jasper kissed, and Meghan had spent all her free time usually spent with her best friend, pacing her living room, mulling over what had happened.
There was a spark. Oh, was she kidding. It was Meg and Jas, there was a whole firework show. She shook her head. After what happened at school, Meghan always knew Jasper's weakness. He wouldn't fight for her, he couldn't. That's why they had broken it off.
But he HAD TO go and KISS her. Well, he wasn't all to blame, Meghan kissed him back... She shook her head and sat on the couch, nursing a bottle of butterbeer. Meghan knew she had to figure things out.
She missed her best friend.

Jasper realized that Meghan had left her scarf. He was thinking about taking it back to her the day after their kiss, but he knew things would be completely awkward. All week he had pondered what he was going to do. This time, he was going to try his best not to tuck his tail between his legs and run. This time, he was going to be strong and go after what he wanted.
After he broke up with Meghan in school, he didn't really feel the same, but whenever he kissed her last week, he felt like that was the right thing. Finally building the courage, Jasper went to her apartment with her scarf in hand. Sighing and feeling bold, he reached up and knocked on her door, waiting for her to answer it.

Meghan was in one of her "maybe I should just go talk to Jasper" moods when she heard a knock at her door. Placing her butterbeer on a coaster, Meghan got up and went to the door. When she opened the door, her eyebrows rose at the sight of the very person she'd been thinking about for the past week and a half.
"Jasper," Meghan said, wondering if her voice sounded higher. "um, hi." she smiled nervously.

He was fidgeting a little bit with his jacket while he held her scarf in his hand. When she opened the door, Jasper felt his heart fell to his feet. "Hi Meghan," he spoke. He was attempting not to look nervous, but he truly was. He was shaking on the inside.
"You um, left your scarf last week, and I thought that I would um, return it," said Jasper with a little bit of shyness in his voice. He cleared his throat to appear more confident. "Sorry I didn't get it over here sooner."

She could tell he was nervous, she would have commented on it, but Meghan was just as nervous as he was. This wasn't natural, they were best friends. "Thanks," Meg said, taking the scarf she left behind. "And it's alright," she added. "Do you want to come in?" She asked, trying to be as normal as possible.

Jasper attempted to keep a calm appearance. He didn't want to make things more awkward than they already were.
"I guess I could come in for a little bit," he said smiling. "I'm not supposed to be anywhere special." He wasn't sure what was going to happen, but he tried to think of how he could talk to her without her getting fustrated with him. Jasper knew that he was coming here for more than just giving Meghan back her scarf. He came for the simple reason that he wanted to talk to her and make her see that he could change.

Meghan stepped back and let Jasper in, following him. She wondered back and forth between bringing up the other day and just pretending it never happened. "Thirsty?" she asked, throwing her scarf on the couch and heading to the kitchen and opening her fridge. "All I've got is butterbeer and water, so you have a varity of options," she laughed.

Following Meghan into the kitchen, he leaned against the counter. "Wow, that is quite the variety. I have to think on that one." Jasper gave her a teasing grin. "I'll just go with water. Thank you."
He also thought about bringing up what happened the other day, but that was going to wait for a few minutes. Jasper wanted to see how their interaction went at first. "How have you been this past week?"

Meghan got a water out of the fridge and handed it to Jasper. "My week," she started. How was her week? Panic-stricken, confused, she did so much pasing and thinking that she was exhausted, she basically avoided her best friend.... "It was okay, I didn't do anything special." She lied. "How 'bout you?"

"Busy," Jasper said. It was the truth. Not only had he been busy with the shop, but he had been busy thinking. "The business in the shop picked up again and that was pretty hectic, but I survived." He gave her a smile.
Taking a drink of water, he observed Meghan for a moment as he continued to lean against the counter. "At least you almost didn't get yelled at by a woman that you were trying to help. I swear I think she thought that I was going to do something to her."

Meghan bit her lip. She was going to help Jasper out in the shop before the...kiss...happened. She felt kinda bad leaving him to such busy work.
"What did she think you were going to do?" Meg asked, unable to supress a laugh at Jasper's story.

"See, that's the thing, I don't know what she thought I was going to do." Jasper shook his head. "She just yelled at me not to get close to her when she asked me to get something off the top shelf for her. She wouldn't move so I didn't have a choice but be somewhat close to her. I finally just ignored her and got what she wanted off the top shelf."
He took another drink of water. "That was probably the most entertaining and exciting thing that happened this week."

Meghan laughed at Jasper's story. "Poor thing," Meghan said, leaning on the other side of the counter and facing Jasper. "You know you can be so intiminating sometimes," she mocked.

"Me intimidating? Sure, sure," he said laughing. "I think that you're more intimidating than I am! You scared me the first time I met you. Somtimes you still scare me." Jasper grinned teasingly at her. "I never know when you're going to break out and do something. And of course, I don't ever know what that something will ever be."

Meghan giggled when Jasper told her how intimidating she was. "Well," she said, laughing and walking past him to the living room. "I DO love to keep you on your toes," she laughed again.

"Oh, don't worry, you keep me on my toes all the time. Sometimes you knock me off my toes," Jasper said laughing. He followed her into the living room and sat on the couch. "Maybe I should start attempting to keep you on your toes. I should start pulling off random things to keep you surprised." Jasper gave her a wink.

"Sure you could," Meghan replied sarcastically. She was sure she could mosty predict any of Jasper's attempts of surprise.
Except the kiss, she definatly wasn't prepared for that one at all. Meghan sighed inwardly. They couldnt just go on like it never happened, the awkwardness between them was almost painful. "Jasper...abut last week....." she said, not really knowing how to go about this. Maybe she should take it back and keep going on like it never happened.

"Yes, I could. You could be surprised what I could think of. Even you wouldn't know what was coming." Jasper looked at her confidently, but that slowly slipped as he remembered the real reason he came over. He told himself again that he could do it.
The moment started to feel a little awkward. "Before you say anything else, it was meant to happen. I meant to." Jasper did his best to keep his voice even. "I wanted to. I know that things in school were completely different. I wish that I would have done things a lot differently. Trust me. If I could go back and do it all over again, I would because I messed up." He paused for a moment and ran a hand through his hair. "And this is why I came over to see you. I wanted to talk about it..."

Meghan sat on the couch and faced Jasper. She brought her knees to her chest and wrapped her arms around her legs. She hardly said anything, Just let Jasper continue. "Last time..." she started, thinking about school. "That hurt, Jasper...last time..."

"I know Meg," he said. "I know it hurt, because it hurt me to. You don't know how many times I kicked myself because of it. I should have done better. I know I should have. I just didn't really see what I had going for me until it was gone." Jasper sighed. "The truth is, Meg, after that happened, I was a mess. I started to think and everything. I put everything away as we started to become friends again. Then at the store... I just couldn't help it. I acted on what I had been thinking about."
