Kat was falling behind in her classes already, and it was only November. So when she finished with her last class for the day, Kat marched up to her room, grabbed her school books and marched back down to the common room to to some hard core studying.
She had just opened her Transfiguration book when she looked up and saw someone entering the commonroom. Easily distracted, Kat greeted them.
"Hello."

Lacey looked up when she heard the hello, surprised at being addressed nearly the second she walked in. But what were Hufflepuffs if not friendly, she thought.
She gave the girl a bright smile She was a couple of years ahead of Lacey. "Hello," she said. "Studying?" She asked, nodding towards the book in front of the other girl. "I am too. The teachers are keeping us so busy this year, I barely have time to breathe."

"Trying to study," Kat said. "I get ddistracted too easily, I'm sure i've read this page a dozen times and haven't retained a thing." she laughed and put the book aside. The girl next to her seemed younger than her. What are you studing? Maybe I could help?" Kat offered.
