Emmeline looked down at the parchment in her hands. Her hand-writing was atrocious. It had been written rather quickly. She never really cared for writing letters. She wouldn't ever be able to put down everything that happened here into one letter. She just mentioned how well she was doing and how she was asked to the ball and how her studies were.
Emmeline strapped the letter to her owl, Dewdrop, and waved her off. She took a step back from the window to watch Dewdrop when her foot grabbed the hem of her robe and she whirled around, trying not to trip. She was about to fall flat on her face, but she grabbed something just in time. It just so happened to be somebody.

"Oh," Brynn said in shock as she walked into the owlery and a girl fell on top of her. "Hello," Brynn said quietly after the two had fallen to the ground. She giggled a bit and held out her hand to the girl who had fallen on top of her. "Brynn De Luca" she said shyly.

Emmeline looked down at the girl who had saved her face from the floor and blushed. "I'm so sorry. I'm such a clutz." She grabbed the girls hand and helped her up. "I'm Emmeline Vance. You can call me Emme."
Emmeline brushed her jeans off and shook out her school robe. "Do you want me to dust your back off? I feel horrible..."

"Oh, no, it's alright," Brynn said kindly. "I figured my robes would get dirty up here in the owlry anyway, it's really okay," her voice was quiet. "It's nice to meet you Emme." Brynn said shyly.

Emmeline looked down guiltly. "I bet you weren't planning on them being ruined by another student..." she turned slowly and looked out the glassless window (so really a hole in the wall) and saw that Dewdrop was out of sight. She turned back to Brynn.
"Nice to meet you too, Brynn...." Emmeline squinted. "De luca......familair..." she mumbled to herself. "Oh well!" She said shurgging. She looked at her watch. She still had an hour before her first class. "Are you heading to a class?"

Byrnn shook her head. "Not right now," she said. She pulled a letter out of her pocket and whistled at a Snowy owl up toward the top of the Owlery. It flew down and pearched itself on Brynn's arm and she attached her letter to the bird. "Take this to Dad, okay?" Brynn asked her owl. It blinked and Brynn watched as Snowball flew out the window. "Sorry about that." she said to Emme. "My next class is in an hour, I have Potions."

Emmeline smiled and nodded. "me too. I'm dreading it though. I didn't look up the potion last night." she walked over to where Brynn was standing and sat in the window seat.
"what year are you in? you look a little older than I do."

"I'm in third year," Brynn replied. "You're in second year right, I can vaguely remember..." her voice drifted off. "Potions is my best class, I can help you if you'd like," Brynn said with a small smile. If she remembered correctly, they would be learning the shrinking potion today.

Emmeline smiled brightly and nodded slightly. "That would be awesome. I used to be good a potions...." She shrugged. "But that was last year on the first day of classes..." she smiled and motioned for her to sit.
"But I really don't wanna talk about classes right now...they're so dreary and boring. Especially if you stink at them like I do potions..."

"I don't think I've ever met a Ravenclaw that was bored with classes," Brynn laughed, deciding she really liked Emme, she was different, just like Brynn. Emme was a bored-with-classes Ravenclaw and Brynn a shy Gryffindor.

"Well, they wouldn't be if......" She didn't finish her sentence. There was nothing that made them fun. The professors talked to you like you were stupid and they made the work the same way. Emmeline always finished the night it was assigned. "What about you? Do you like adventure and dangerous affairs? Not the sleazy kind of affairs of course...."
