Judah walked into the Three Broomsticks with a craving for Butterbeer. To him, nowhere else had better butterbeer than here. He was trying to look on a good side of things to keep himself going. He had three children to look after. Hayden seemed to have grown up too fast, but he didn't mind it. He had decided that he was going to take on whatever he could and sometimes Judah wished that Hayden would have just grown as he aged each year, but it seemed he matured all at once. He had always been that way, but Judah couldn't be anymore proud than he already was. Sheena and Liam were still young and he hoped that they wouldn't have to deal with the mess going on around them.
Right now, Judah was just going to take a break and relax. He walked in and took a seat at an empty table after ordering a butterbeer.

Mathieu didn't often go out drinking after work. He wasn't the type. He usually preferred to go home and spend his time with his wife and family. But something was worrying him tonight, and he needed to get away for a little while.
Something about his talk with Roland earlier that day wasn't sitting well with him. He knew his son well, and he knew that Roland was worried about something. And the fact that he wouldn't say what it was had Mathieu even more concerned. Roland wasn't always the most talkative person, but he'd never kept things from Mathieu before.
These troubling thoughts were still on his mind as he wandered into the Three Broomsticks to have a drink. He caught sight of a familiar face at the bar and he smiled slightly. "Hello, Judah," he said, sliding into a seat next to his younger brother.

The barmaid just set a mug of butterbeer infront of him whenever Mathieu appeared beside him. Judah smiled at his older brother. "Hello to you too Mathieu." He picked up his mug and took a swallow out of it.
Judah turned his head and observed his brother a moment. He knew him well enough to know that something was on his mind. "How have things been going lately?"

Mathieu looked at the barmaid and ordered a glass of butterbeer for himself. Turning back to Judah, he smiled. "Things are going OK, I suppose. Things are still pretty strained with Cyrus, but other than that, I suppose everything is going pretty well. The kids are doing pretty well in school, and Roland is back in town from his last mission... it looks like he's going to be staying a while, too. How about you? I talked with Hayden the other day, but other than that, I haven't really heard much from your side of the family."

"I should make it a point to go see Roland," said Judah. "Haven't really talked to him in awhile." He knew about the strain with Cyrus. Judah didn't really blame the girl or Cyrus for what happened between them. He didn't see why Cara was so closed minded about the whole situation, and he didn't understand why Cyrus hadn't already asked the girl to marry him. However, Judah was going to do his best to stay out of that bit of on going. He would still go see his nephew and his girlfriend, along with Mara.
"Well, we're all doing pretty good. Sheena and Liam are doing pretty good in school as well. Suri is going on about her usual. Hayden is going to be staying around for a bit too I believe. That'll be a good change for a bit."

The barmaid placed his drink in front of him, and Mathieu paused to take a sip before looking at his brother. "I'm sure Roland would be happy to see you," he said. "Maybe you can get him to talk to you. He was acting weird today... I got the feeling he was keeping something from me. I swear... that boy... it's like pulling teeth to get any kind of information out of him."
Shaking his head, he tried to push the thought from his mind. "You know, Cara and I were talking the other night, and we really should get the whole family together for the holidays. It's been so long since I've seen Sheena and Liam that I'm not even sure I would recognize them if I saw them."

"Maybe I'll be able to get something out of him, but then again I can't promise anything. He's just like his father." Judah smiled. Mathieu had always been a serious child and now Roland was the same.
"Family get together would be nice, especially with Christmas right around the corner. I think that the children would like that. After all, like you said they haven't seen you in awhile. Plus, I think it would be enjoyable to be together for a bit."

Mathieu smiled slightly. "Yes... I suppose he is a bit like me," he agreed. "I must have really driven our parents crazy." His half-smile was eerily similar to his son's. "Anyway, if you do see him, do me a favor and see if you can try to find out what's bothering him. I don't know why... he's perfectly capable of taking care of himself, but somehow I worry about him more than I do about the others. He's so intense and I can't always tell what's going on inside that head."
He was more than happy to change the subject and get back to talking about the holidays. "I'll talk to Cara and see if we can plan a get together with all of you." He sighed slightly. "I just wish we could get Emelia to join us as well. We've hardly seen her since she married Malfoy." He frowned at the name.

"That'll be good. I'll talk to Suri whenever I get home. I'm sure that she'll be excited about it. Just let me know the best time for you." Judah was looking forward to seeing them all again. They rarely got together, but then again they were all usually pretty busy.
Judah frowned as well at the name of Malfoy. "I would be nice to see Emelia again," he replied. "Although, I don't know if Malfoy would look forward to it. Maybe we could just send her an owl and ask if she wants to join us."

Mathieu thought about it for a moment. "The last time I tried to invite her over without him, she refused to come. I can't decide if she's really happy with him, or if he's controlling her somehow." He sighed. "I worry about her, you know? I miss her. But if she's really happy with him, I guess I don't mind so much."
Emelia's marriage to a Malfoy was, for a long time, a source of family controversy. The Ferreras did come from a long line of purebloods, but were generally considered to be blood traitors, due to the fact that most of the family were aurors. But the Malfoy family had long been known to have ties to dark magic, so Emelia's marriage was a bit of a shock.

"I never liked the man to be quite honest with you," said Judah. "I was only nice because Emelia seemed to like him a lot." He shook his head. "I don't see how on earth Emelia could fall for a man like that, but then again there's a lot that I don't understand. If she wants to bring him along, then I guess I'll play nice because you know that she won't come without him."
Judah sighed. The subject of a Malfoy always seemed to darken the mood. "Well Mathieu, I think that either way, we'd have fun, don't you?"

Mathieu took a sip from his butterbeer. As he did, he thought back again on the last time he had seen their sister. It had been before Amandine was born. It seemed impossible to believe that it had been that long, but it was true. She'd since had a son, Axel, that Mathieu had never even seen.
"You know what? I think I'm going to try and pay her a visit. I haven't seen her in so long... Maybe she thinks we don't care about her anymore. I want her to know that we miss her... maybe then she'd be more willing to go to a family gathering. What do you think?"

It had been so long since Judah saw his sister. He wasn't even sure if she looked the same or what had been going on with her. He hadn't seen her since the last time Mathieu had seen her. Judah frowned at the thought.
"I haven't seen her in so long either," he said. "I think that would be good if you go visit her. Just make sure it's whenever whats-his-face is at work. I think that he's the main reason she hasn't come to any family gatherings. There's something about him I just don't like. After you go see her, let me know how things go. I'll go by there one afternoon myself as well. I'll let you have time with her, then I'll go. Maybe she'll come see us. I don't care if Malfoy comes, just as long as Emelia is there."

"Yeah, same with me," Mathieu replied. "I don't like the man, and I don't trust him... but I'll tolerate him if I can see Emelia. And the boys. Noah was so small the last time I saw him... and I've never seen Axel at all. It just seems so wrong that some of the children have never even met her." He sighed heavily. "How did we let it go this long? We should have tried harder to see her."

"I've actually sent her numerous owls to her before, but none of them where ever answered. I sent ones asking how she was, if she wanted to meet, or something like that, but she never did answer them. I don't know if Malfoy did something with them, or if Emelia just never answered them." Judah sighed. "I even went by there once, but he said that she was getting ready and then they were going out somewhere. I guess it was the fact that we did try sort of hard in the beginning to keep up with her, then none of our tries got us anywhere. I suppose that is the reason why we haven't really tried any harder."
He shook his head. "I don't trust him either. But I do want to see her children and see how much she's changed if at all."

"The same with me," Mathieu replied. I used to owl her all the time... sometimes I still do, but I never get a response. The last owl I had from her was when Axel was born. And I'm not even entirely sure she was the one who sent it."
He paused to sip a little of his drink. "I just feel bad... like we allowed ourselves to be distracted dealing with our own families and never made enough of an effort to reach out to her."
