Emmeline was bored out of her mind. She had finished all her essays early and the reading that was assigned she had finished over the summer. She stared at the fire and listened to the quiet buzz of fellow students around her. Most of them were talking about what they were going to do while they were at home over the break. Emmeline sighed. For the first time since being here, she wasn't going home for Christmas. Her parents decided to go see distant relatives in the States.
Emmeline looked around the room for a familiar face. She saw a couple. But she didn't know them well enough to strike up a conversation. She smiled and waved to a couple of people, but other than that, she sat there, alone and so bored and nostalgic, it should have been punishable.

Gage tripped over the carpet as he walked into the common room. It had begun to snow hevily outside and Gage, who was still getting used to the fluffy white powder, was covered in it when he was drawing the Whomping Willow covered in snow in his sketch book.
Freezing, Gage took a seat by the fire, trying to warm up. His sketch book was on his lap, he wanted to draw, but he was shivering too much for that right now. Darn California upbringing. Gage was too used to warm weather for this.
A few seats over, Gage saw Emmeline watching the fire with a glazed look. She looked quite bored actually. "He..hello Em...meline," Gage said, still shivering.

Ruecain walked down the stairs. He was holding on to his harmonica because he was playing it up in the bed rooms but got tried of it. He went down stairs to get warm again and to see if anyone was there. When he got down the steps he saw Gage. "Hey Gage!" Ruecain said with a smile. " Your soaking wet! Did you lose a bet and jump into the lake?" Ruecain said with a laugh.

"Hey Ruecain," Gage shivered. "No, I... I'm jus...t no...no...not used to...to the sn...ow yet," Gege knew his words were almost too dificult to comprehend, so he shut up and leaned closer to the fire.

Ruecain rubbed the back of his head and said," Well you better get use to it! because your going to be here for the next five years right?" Ruecain got up and threw a towel at Gage so he could dry himself a bit faster. " So who's this pretty young lady we have over here?" He asked Gage noticing the second year ravenclaw girl. He had seen this girl before in the common room before but never spoke to her due to him being shy towards other people. So he decide to befriend her."Hello I'm Ruecain White and it is my pleasure to meet you." He said in a friendly tone.

Emmeline looked over lazily at Gage. "Howdy Gage." She frowned. He looked to be soaked. She checked out the window. It was snowing heavily and she knew that he wasn't used to the snow yet. "Are you okay? You should probably change out of those wet clothes..."
Emmeline was about to go get him a towel when a kid she hadn't met before ran up carrying a harmonica. She sat back into the couch when he threw a towel at Gage. When he addressed her, she blushed furiously. No one had ever used the word "pretty" when talking about her. Emmeline smiled brightly and nodded.
"It's very nice to meet you, Ruecain. I'm Emmeline. You can call me Emme."

Ruecain smiled at her red face. He really thought she was cute. "Well Emmeline is a very cute name."he said sitting down on a chair next to her. He wanted to get to know her a little more before he graduate. "How are you doing in your school work?" he asked politely.

"Thanks," Gage said graciously when Ruecain threw the towel at him. The towel plus the fire was making Gage warm up quickly and he finally stopped shivering. The other two were talking so for the moment Gage just listened, relishing in the warmth of the common room.

Emmeline shrugged and smiled. "Well, I guess I'm living up to the Ravenclaw stantard. I'm doing extremely well. What about you?" She tried to look at him without appearing to judge him. He was extremely cute.
Emmeline turned towards Gage. His shivering had gone down a lot, but the fire was starting to fizzle. She aimed her wand at it and muttered a spell. The logs rustled like they were being poked and the fire roared back to life within a few seconds. "Gage, you should really change your clothes. I'm not very good at nursing people back to health."

"Oh I'm doing quite well...except in charms." He said truthfully. He look at gage and saw that he had stop shivering. " Hey you stop shaking! Thats good." Ruecain said to gage. He noticed that his hair tie was a bit loose. so he let his brown hair loose and fixed it up in to it's natural hair style. "Sorry about that. Anyway what are your hobbies?" Ruecain said with a chuckle.

"You're right Emme, I'll go change and be back, thanks," gage said appreciativly. He wrapped the towel around his neck and ran quickly to the dorm to change.

Emmeline watched Ruecain's hair fall out of it's ponytail and was in awe. He had beautiful hair and it looked even better than her own did. "You have really nice hair." She reached out quickly to touch it. It felt just as soft as it looked.
She saw Gage rise and head to the Boy's Dorm to change. She laughed lightly and called after him, "You know I'm always right. And hurry back! I don't wanna go up there and find you passed out from hypothermia!" She turned back to Ruecain smiling and contemplated his question.
"Well, I like singing and playing the piano. You know, all the usuals. Reading and writing. I really love hanging out with friends though. Like right now. This is fun to me. What do you like to do?" She asked with a smile.

"Yea Emme, I know," Gage called back to her before entering his dorm. He quickly changed out of his sodding clothes and hung them up on his bed post. He changed into a pair of jeans and an old sweatshirt of his brothers, dried off his hair a little more, and then went back to the common room.
"Hows your Harmonica playing Rue?" Gage asked, just now noticing he had it with him.

"It's getting better. I got a new harmonica from my little sisters." Ruecain said while pulling out a shiny new harmonica. It even had his name engraved on it. " You want to hear a song?" Ruecain asking both Emma and Gage.
