Nathan had been on the run for a little over 6 months, ever since the botched attack on the Order of the Phoenix. Recently, however, he had read in the Daily Prophet that Tyler Jackson's trial had finally been scheduled and was expect to return a guilty verdict.
And then Nathan's conscience began to eat at him. He knew the truth, that Claudia Morley had put Tyler under the Imperius Curse. He had taken part in the attack, and, along with the now-deceased Charles Mortensen, he had turned on Claudia and stopped the attack before too many people were hurt.
His treachery had put him at risk, or so he thought. Lord Voldemort did not look kindly on traitors. So he had fled, like a coward. And suddenly now... now he knew that he couldn't continue to run forever. It was time to face what he'd done, and help Tyler Jackson.
So he sent an owl to Crystal as he arrived back in town:
Crystal,
I'm back in town and I need to see you. Please meet me at my shop tomorrow at noon. We have some things we need to talk about.
Love always,
Nathan

((I didn't even see this... ))
Once again, Nathan had ran. He never did give Crystal many details as to why, he just left. Left like last time. Maybe it was just a reoccurring thing. Every time things become alright for them, something would come up and he had to run. Why did she continue on with this? The only reason she could think of to answer that question was she loved him.
Colby had been growing up fast and he started to look more like his father every day. Naturally, the boy had questions as to where Nathan went, and the only response Crystal could give him was he had to go on vacation.
An owl appeared at her window and she reached up and let it in, taking the note from her. She could recognize the handwriting. Crystal swallowed the lump in her throat after reading the note. He was back, but for how long? She knew that she couldn't get her hopes up. Waiting for tomorrow was going to take forever.
Crystal arranged for someone she trusted to watch Colby while she went to meet Nathan. She didn't want Colby to hear everything going on, besides it would have been good for him to be playing with kids his age right now.
Arriving at the shop, Crystal walked in even though she was a little nervous. "Hey," she said a little breathlessly.

"Crystal," Nathan said, taking a long look at her. She looked good, as always. How had he ever allowed things to get so mixed up? He should have been with her, he should have been a father to Colby. Instead, he'd got caught up with the death eaters and was on the run from Voldemort. He'd made so many mistakes... it was time to start working to correct them. If that was even possible.
"I've had a lot of time to think since I've been on the run," he said. "I want to change. But I need your help."

“You want to change?” Crystal’s eyebrows rose and her arms crossed. She had wished that he had changed a long time ago, back to the one that she knew before he ran the first time. It was going to be a fool’s run if she agreed to help him. Everything was so messed up, but she was getting through it. Now he was back and wanted her help? Why did she have to be weak when it came to him? It just didn’t make any sense. Part of her knew that if he asked her to jump off a cliff with him, she probably would. She had a son to worry about and she didn’t want him to get caught up in anything.
How many chances was she going to give Nathan? She had already given him a second chance, and he just took off. Was she really willing to give him a third chance?
“I,” she gave a long pause. “What kind of help?”

He sighed and sank down onto the sofa, running his hands through his hair. "That attack on the Order. They're blaming Tyler Jackson for it, and they shouldn't. He was under the Imperious Curse, and I was in on it. That's why I ran... Charles and I changed our minds at the last minute and turned against the one who started it all.... Claudia Morley. But even if we changed our minds... we were still were in on it. So I had Claudia mad at me for turning on her, the Ministry mad at me for the part I toook in all of it, and the Dark Lord angry at me for deserting. You're literally the only person left on my side, especially now that Charles is dead...."
He looked up at her. "I want to turn myself in and be a witness for Tyler. He shouldn't be blamed... he was forced."
