Jeremy gulped. The idea of putting his hand on her waist made him nervous, and maybe a little excited. He wiped his palms on his pant legs, then stepped over to put his right hand on her waist. With his left hand he took hold of her hand.
"OK... is this right?" he asked shyly, his voice coming out a little higher than normal.

She noticed his nervousness, but Lennie was nervous herself. Jeremy placed his hand on her hips and Alenna's stomach flipped, but her confidence overpowered her shyness, and she put her free hand on his shoulder. "Good," she said. "Now just step as I do," and the two moved slowly, Alenna quietly diercting Jeremy's step and her eyes on their feet.

Jeremy had to concentrate very hard on watching her feet, in order to distract himself from the fact that she was standing so close, his hand on her waist. The first couple of steps, he messed up, narrowly avoiding kicking her. But after a few minutes, he was able to follow her movements and he got into a flow. A few minutes after that, his movements were a little more certain, less hesitant.
He broke into a shy grin, and looked back up at her face. "That's not so hard," he said.
Right before he stepped on her foot.

"Ow!" she said quietly. But then she laughed. "No, its okay its okay," she said with the brightest of smiles. "Not bad for someone who says he doesn't know how to dance," Alenna said. Jeremy had caught on quicker than she had expected. She stepped toward him and took his hand in hers again. "Alright, lets try it again." she said, a hint of the laugh still in her voice. she was having fun with Jeremy.

Jeremy winced. "I'm so sorrry!" he gasped, immediately stopping his dance steps. "I didn't hurt you, did I? Maybe we should rest a minute and I should check your foot..." He bit down on his lower lip.
But she laughed it off and said she wanted to try it again. "Are you sure?" he asked nervously.

"I've stepped on my own toes enough, don't worry, I'm fine," she smiled. "Come on, let's try again," she said. They began to step in time again, and Alenna found herself humming a tune quietly to keep in beat.

Jeremy took a deep breath and began to follow her steps again. As he went, the steps got easier and pretty soon, he didn't have to think about it anymore. The movements became natural and he began to match the rhythm of the tune she was humming.
He smiled up at her, slowly becoming more relaxed. "This is nice," he said.

"Yea, it is," Alenna reliped, smiling up at Jeremy. "It's fun too, I told you its easy." She giggled and held up an arm, spinning under it and ending gracefully back in his arms.
