(Aka: Please Kill Me Now)
It was the full moon again, and Coda was supposed to be with Zander's pack. Athena had dropped her off early to prepare for the full moon, and Coda quickly made an excuse to wander around outside. It wasn't that she didn't like the pack. She liked them a lot, and they were protective of her. But she missed Tis, and she was still worried about Alastor. He was out there somewhere, possibly hurt or dying. She was sure Tis could find him.
So, when no one was looking, Coda slipped off her pretty new shoes and the wolf shirt she was so proud of, then changed into her old, oversized dress. Then she turned and ran into the forest, searching for Tis.
It wasn't long before she found one of the caves, and she stashed her old dress in it, knowing that the full moon would be rising soon.

Bridget was at work and had been for a few days now. Ed was growing restless at home without her. Fortunately the full moon was upon them and he was able to put all of his training into practice. One of the more frequented places for lunar activity was the forest at the edge of the Hogwarts property. He had been searching the last few months near Hogsmeade and his clues had led him to believe he would be successful here tonight.
The night had come quicker than he has expected and soon Ed was searching the outskirts of the forest with his wand lit. "Come on, beast. Where are you?" he whispered almost tauntingly. He really needed to be productive tonight. He wanted good news to bring back to Bridget.

Coda could feel the pull of the full moon on her bones. It would rise at any moment, and she laid down on the hard stone of the cave, waiting for the crushing pain to seize her tiny frame. She should have been used to it by now, but she never would be. It hurt, and as the slow, torturous transformation began, she gritted her teeth and squeezed her eyes shut, allowing a few tears to leak out.
The sound of her bones cracking and rearranging was so loud, it echoed through the cave. She managed to stay brave at first, but eventually, the pain was too much and she let out a piercing scream that ended in a howl.

Ed's head snapped to the left as he heard the howl belonging to a changing werewolf. Finally, a breakthrough. He had been on the trail for a while now, and with werewolves "hibernating" most of the month, he was having little success. He set off at a run in the direction of the howl. It wasn't long before he came upon a cave and heard growls from inside. He raised his wand and stepped inside. It was even darker here than the rest of the forest, so he moved carefully.

Now in her wolf form, Coda immediately began to sniff the area in search of Tis. She desperately needed to find him. If she could find him, then maybe he would know what happened to Alastor.
But she didn't catch any trace of his scent, so she started out of the cave, not realizing that someone had come into the cave with her. Only when she saw a dim glow moving toward her did she realize that she was not alone.
She stopped and stared at the glowing light. It hurt her eyes, and that made her angry. She wanted to hurt the thing that had brought in the light.

Ed froze momentarily as the large eyes of the werewolf caught the light from his wand. Its fur was so dark that deep in the cave it appeared the glowing eyes were unconnected to its body. He gathered himself and quickly fired a spell at the creature. There was a flash of silver light that streaked through the cave toward the beast, and in its quick light he noticed just how small the werewolf was.

Coda didn't like the light. It made her angry. She stood, rooted to the spot, her upper lip curled over her teeth in a snarl. But the threatening pose didn't make the light or the human go away. Instead, the silvery light struck her chest, and she yelped, then fell to the floor. It hurt so much....

While the beast fell to the floor Ed reached for a pure silver blade he kept in his belt. He only had a brief moment before the monster would be up and attacking again, so he took his chance and leapt forward. He brandished the knife and began to wrestle the werewolf. He and the werewolf were of equal size but Ed had the advantage, being on top of the creature. He needed to thrust the blade deep into the werewolf's heart to kill it. But he needed a clear shot at it. No use in making the beast suffer unnecessarily. He wasn't out to avenge the deaths of those recently attacked, he was simply preventing more from occurring.

The human was on top of her, fighting her. Coda growled, twisting her neck and trying to bite the human. He was just out of reach, and although she was stronger, she couldn't seem to shake the human off of her. She twisted and writhed, trying to dislodge him. What was he doing here? What did he want? Coda didn't understand. Humans had always been nice to her. Why was this one trying to hurt her?
She reared up on her hind legs, trying to get the human off of her back.

The beast was able to get to its feet, but at the same time Ed saw a clear path to its chest. He struggled to not fall over as he slammed the silver blade into the werewolf. His hand was was shaking from the adrenaline that coursed through his veins. He had never actually fought a werewolf before. Nor had he killed one yet. This would be his first. This would be the story he would tell his children, the children he hoped to have with Bridget.

Coda was still struggling to get the human away from her, and she let out an angry growl. But then she felt the pain, a pin prick to her heart. She barely had the time to cry out in pain, a horrid, gurgling noise that ended abruptly. Blood was gushing from the wound, but she never saw any of it. Her legs gave out and she fell to the ground limply, like an old forgotten toy.

Ed fell to the floor with the werewolf and fumbled to get to his feet. In doing so, he brushed the the blade against his leg and slit his pants. He paid his clothes no mind as he stood over the fallen creature, looking down at his first success. It didn't feel like success though. He felt a pang in his chest as he watched the creature bleed in the dark.
He needed to move it. He couldn't leave it here. But he couldn't lift the great beast and in his new found sorrow he forgot about his magic. He wasn't thinking straight. He needed to see Bridget, she could reconcile his emotions. She had slain vampires before, she could help him. Deciding the body was safe here in the cave, he left it. He would come back tomorrow in the daylight, and turn the body over to the Ministry. He walked home, instead of apparating to Bridget's house. He walked in a daze, in silence.
