Lina shook her head. "I don't really know what I want, Jen. Just... things for Mara, you know?"
She smiled gently, fondly as she thought of the girl. What she had thought earlier was true. She wanted a proposal... and that could only come from Cyrus.
She also knew her brother. "But if you're going to insist, there was a book I was thinking about picking up the other day." She grinned. "I could just let you pick it up for me."

"I'll pick you up that book, although I'll see what else I can find you. I want it to be a surprise." Jensen grinned. "And of course, Mara will be spoiled at Christmas. I'll help make sure of that. Speaking of which, if there's a night that you and Cyrus want to go out, or you just want a night to yourselves, I will be more than happy to babysit Mara. Although, first I have to go buy a few toys for her and a crib that can stay in my apartment. I know that wouldn't be a problem for me to do that."

Lina ran a hand through her hair. "Oh, that little girl is going to love you. She'll be begging Cyrus' and me to go out just so she can go to Uncle Jensen's house." She figured it would be very similar to how she adored her brother. He was good about caring about people.
"I should ask you what you need or want for Christmas. I already got you something, but in case I was way off base... who knows, maybe I can get you an assistant for the shop for Christmas."

"I'll get the stuff today while we're out. That way you can approve of what I get. And of course she'll be welcome to come over anytime she wants to." Jensen would welcome Mara to come over whenever she wanted and of course, if Lina and Cryrus needed him to watch her.
"I think I'm actually set for Christmas. I don't really need anything honestly. I'm quite content with what I have. Which reminds me, I should put up my tree. Do you need any help today with putting up stuff for Christmas or anything?"

Lina laughed at her brother's willingness to help. "I'm sure I can find something for you to help with, if you're so insistant. Are you hungry or do you just want to pay for the drinks and go shopping? I don't mind either way."
She left it up to him, really not caring. She loved that he wanted to help her though.

"Of course I'm insistant. It's a family trait, what can I say?" Jensen grinned again. "I think I can wait on the food. I'm not really all that hungry because I had something to eat not to long ago. I used one of those recipes you sent me. It turned out pretty good. But I vote we go shopping and then if you want, we can pick something up to eat and take it back to your place, which it will be my treat."

Lina laughed. "I hadn't considered it, but I guess I can be pretty insistant, too." If nothing else suggested it, the number of fights she and Cyrus had lately should have been an indicator.
She nodded and left some coins on the table. "Then when we're done, we'll just go shopping. I have the afternoon, anyway. And I'll even let you treat me to dinner. Which recipe did you try?" She asked. "Some of the pastas are really good. I've been making them all for Cyrus, and he seems to like them."

"The pasta with extra sauce and cheese. Instead of Alfredo, I used marinara sauce and used mozzarella cheese. It was pretty good. I still have some left in my fridge." Jensen loved his sister's cooking. His cooking was decent, but it wasn't near as good as hers.
Jensen picked up the coins on the table and put his own coins down, giving Lina's coins back to her before she could complain. He smiled and held the door open for her as they walked out of the place. "Now, lets go find the little munchkin something to annoy her parents with."

Lina took her coins back, giving her brother a look. She could have taken care of the drinks, no problem, but she knew better than to argue with him. Truthfully, she loved the role he played in her life. Lina could take care of herself, but she loved when Jensen tried to take care of her still.
She followed him out of the Three Broomsticks, laughing at his comment. "Yeah yeah... how about something that will annoy Cyrus and not me? I'm the one with her all day."

"Well, we'll see what we can find. I'll try and find something that will do that," said Jensen still grinning. "And I saw a nice little teddy bear that Mara might like. I'll be sure that I do spoil her no problem." He winked at Lina as he led her through the streets. "I might just give her that teddy bear today and start her spoiling slowly. Then of course the little clothes and toys I'll wrap up and give her for Christmas."

"You do that, and she's going to start expecting you to bring her gifts everytime you come visit," Lina teased, closing her cloak around herself to sheild against the wind.
"You know, come to that, where's my gift?" She looked expectantly at Jensen, but couldn't keep straight face for long. She laughed, and he would know she was just teasing him. Lina had a bubbly laugh that was infectuous, and she could already hear it in Mara when the baby laughed.

"Oh, I think I could arrange to do that for Mara," he said teasing back at Lina. Jensen laughed along with her. "Your gift was seeing me." He gave her a curious look before laughing again. "I'm just teasing. Your gift will be coming up. It's that book. I'll let you have it already since you know what you're getting. There will be no fun in you knowing what your Christmas gifts are." Jensen continued to smile and then put his hands in his pockets against the cold.

"I'm teasing you," Lina told him, nudging him as they walked. "Seeing you is my gift. Besides, you spoiled me most my life, I suppose it's Mara's turn now."
She lead them to the bookstore and beat Jensen to the door, holding it open for him. "Anyway, I'll let you borrow the book when I'm finished. I think you'd like it too, from what I hear. But tell me more about what's going on with you. I feel like I do all the talking whenever I see you."

"Well, I have to spoil my two most favorite girls ever," Jensen said matter of factly. "I can't just let you be unspoiled. What kind of person would I be then?" He looked at her in a questionable, yet teasing way.
Jensen laughed when Lina beat him to the door and held it open for him. "Thank you, sir," he said grinning. "Nothing special is going on with me. It's the same as it always has been. I'm happy with the way things are at the moment, and I'm taking life day by day as usual."

Lina nodded, after hitting him lightly on the arm. "After you, ma'am," she returned.
She understood living day to day. She wanted to make plans for the future, and they all involved Cyrus, but he was forcing her to live day by day. She wondered what event it would be that finally either drove him to ask Lina to marry him, or to leave her. She couldn't stay in limbo forever.
"Any girls?" She asked, wiggling her eyebrows teasingly.

He batted his eyelashes playfully at Lina. "You are too kind sir," he added. Jensen started to laugh. Playing around with his sister was one of the things he lived for. He didn't care how old he got, it would never get old.
"Nah. There haven't been any girls. I'm alright being single for right now. Mum and dad can fuss over me still being single all they want, but I'm not going to do anything just to please them." Jensen rolled his eyes. "Plus, I just haven't really looked. I've been busy with working. Besides, who really needs a girl in their life while I have you and Mara?"

"Awww," Lina said, turning doe eyes on her brother. "That was very sweet of you to say." She loved her brother doting on her. Honestly, she didn't know where she would be now if it hadn't been for him.
FInally, she stopped in an isle of the bookstore, and looked through the books for a moment. "Honestly, the girl that finally gets you is going to be one lucky woman. Here it is." She pulled it out and handed it to him.

Of course, Jensen would never lie to his sister, or anyone else for that matter. Lina had always been there for him and him for her. It was just the way it worked.
"Hopefully," he replied. "She might get to know me pretty well then run. Who knows?" Jensen gave a shrug. "I still have plenty of time to find a girl, but like I said I'm not going to stress over it." He looked at the book Lina picked up. "Hm. Looks like it would be interesting," Jensen commented. "But anyway, you'll be the first to know if something changes. Promise."

Lina laughed. "Or fall more in love with you everyday, the more she learns about you. We girls do that, I promise," she told him, perusing the rest of the titles on the shelf while they talked.
"Besides, Mum and Dad shouldn't be bugging you about settling down anyway. They've already got one grandchild. They can get to know her before they start worrying about another."

He knew how his parents were and it was one reason why he hadn't gone back to see them as of late. "Well, you know that I haven't been back over there lately. Maybe the next time I go I can take Mara, or you could even come with me. They are not going to say anything to be about settling down this time. Last time they did I just walked out. I have a good while before I really want to settle down. I mean it's a nice idea and all, I just haven't found the right girl yet. Maybe I'll find her soon. Wouldn't that be interesting? Bring home a girl at Christmas?" He gave Lina a playful look. "Although, I don't really see that happening. I doubt that mum is going to wait to make a big thing out of Christmas this year. If you want, I can help you cook Christmas dinner."
