Marietta finally finished unpacking her boxes and moving around furniture. It took her two days to finally get her apartment the way she wanted it. Now she only wished that she could paint the walls. It would look a lot better, but she would just have to leave it as is.
She put up new curtains on the few windows that she had. The way she put them up did give the apartment a little bit more light. Satisfied after she had a hard time making sure that the curtains would stay pinned back, Marietta stood back and admired her work. Now her apartment did feel like home.
The kitchen was perfect and everything was organized. All the food was stored in the cabinets neatly. Happy with everything, she decided that a shower was in order. Tonight was a night that she wanted to go out again. Last time she went out it was amusing to say the least.
Once she was ready, she left her apartment, locking her door behind her and heading toward the club. She arrived early, meaning that there was hardly anyone in there. Shrugging, Marietta took the same seat she had at the bar the last time she came in.

Aaron stared blankly at his parchment, his magical quill poised above it. He was finished with all the articles he had been hired to write, which left him free time for his novel.
And didn't it figure that he had complete writer's block. Not a single word was entering his mind, no matter how hard he tried to brainstorm.
Finally, frsutrated, he decided he needed to get out and do something. Staying in trying to write was going to drive him mad, and he already felt a little insane anyway. Maybe he could get some inspiration from Spellbound, or at least a good drink.
Arriving, he came up to the bar, ordering a drink. He didn't notice the girl at first, until he turned to the side, surveying the club. He could only see her profile, but there was something painfully familiar about her.

The barmaid gave Marietta her drink and looked at its contents before taking a sip. It did feel good to be back home, and that reminded her that she should possibly stop by and see her parents. She had sent them an owl letting them know that she was home, and that she would come by and visit them some time after she finished getting her apartment finished up.
Maybe she would go by there tomorrow. It wasn't like she had anything special to do, or a job at the moment. Marietta also knew that she would have to go job hunting sometime soon.
Not paying attention to who was beside her, she took another drink from her glass and noticed movement out of the corner of her eye. Marietta noticed that he kept staring at her. She didn't know what was wrong with him, so she turned around to ask why did he keep staring, but when she did look up she studied his face for a moment. He looked just like a guy she had known from school and briefly dated before he left school.
"Aaron," she asked curiously. If the guy didn't turn out to be Aaron, then she could always just walk out the door.

Aaron smiled slowly, and his eyes narrowed. So she knew him, too. It took him just a moment longer to figure out who she was... he ran down a list of his old classmates.
Finally, it hit him. He hoped she didn't notice the pause while he figured it out.
"Marietta... is that really you?" Good lord, if it was her... she had grown up so much. He prayed he was right, or whoever the girl was would have been angry with him, he was sure.

For a second Marietta became worried when he didn't answer right away, but she didn't let it show. He hadn't looked at her oddly, so that was on the good side.
A smile worked itself across her face as she nodded. "Yes," she said. "I just got in about a week ago." Marietta glanced him over with the same smile on her face. "My gosh Aaron Delaney you have grown up a lot. Look at you!"

"Me?" He said, holding his hands out in a state of semi shock. If it hadn't been so long since he had last seen her, he would have hugged her. "What about you? You look fantstic!"
She had changed so much. Last he saw her... well. She had been a lot younger, and still had something of a baby face. She was all woman now.
"Just got in?" He asked. "Where were you?"

Marietta wasn't sure if she should hug him or not, so she decided to wait on that. Aaron had grown up a lot and he was still as handsome as she remembered him to be.
"I was still traveling actually. I had stayed for awhile at my grandparents in Austria before I finished traveling around the world. After I reached Scotland and Ireland, I felt like coming home. It seems to be somewhat the same." She gave him another smile.
"What about you? What have you been doing while I have been gone?"

Aaron laughed. "Yeah, well, it's exactly the same since I graduated... it never changes." He had often toyed with the idea that he had grown up with the city, so it always looked the same to him, and the city in turn could say that he hadn't changed. It was a gradual change that a close friend wouldn't see. London, to him, was a close friend. To Marietta, it seemed, a distant aquaintance that would have seen the difference in the city had there been one.
"I regret to say that I'm not so worldly as you... I've traveled a little as the articles demand, but I've been focused on writing. I'm freelance for now."

"I didn't think that I would have been gone this long actually. I only thought a couple years, not several. However, my grandparents wanted me to stay for a while. It was still fun, so I can't really complain, except for the fact that I didn't have one of my closest friends there. For the majority of the time, I was on my own until I reached my grandparents' house." Marietta smiled. It had been so long that she had seen him, she didn't know if Aaron was still defined as one of her close friends since it had been forever that she had talked to him.
"Hey, that's excellent. You've always been the writer. Half the time during school I wished that I had your skills for writing."

Aaron wasn't entirely sure she was even talking about him when she mentioned the close friend, but it was a weird thing to say if she didn't, wasn't it? He smiled warmly.
"Well, all the travel treated you well. You've grown into a beautiful woman, Marietta," he told her, unabashedly. It was a complimented she deserved.
He nodded, sipping his drink. "I'm actually working on a novel in my free time. Between articles, you know."

Marietta couldn't help it, she blushed at his compliment. She hadn't recieved any in a good while. "Thank you. You've grown up handsomely yourself Aaron," she said.
"A novel hm? Can I know what it's about, or is it one of those things that I have to wait and find out whenever you finish it and then read it?" She gave him a smile. The longer time she spent around him, the more it felt like old times, in a way.

Aaron shrugged. "Well, it's not very good so far," he told her. "I mean, it's good. I hope." He laughed and smiled, taking another drink from his glass. "I just mean to say that when I describe it, it doesn't sound like a very appealing book. Anyway, it's sort of about a wizard who goes through a tragedy and uses a timeturner to go back and try to stop it, and everytime he does, something else happens. It's an exploration of fate versus magic."
He wasn't embarrassed to share the idea of it with her, but he really didn't do his own story justice.

She listened with interest as he described his book. Marietta had always loved to read whatever he wrote. It didn't matter what it was. "Your book does sound interesting. I would read it. And no, I'm not just saying that because you're sitting right here. I've always enjoyed reading whatever you have written."
Marietta gave him a smile. "Is there any chance that I might get to read what you have so far sometime?"

"Sure, you can read it," Aaron told her, smiling at her compliment. In school, she had always asked him to read whatever he was working on. In his seventh year, when he didn't always feel like writing as much, he would make sure to have something just so that she wouldn't be disappointed. She had been a muse to him as well.
"It may not make a lot of sense... some of the chapters aren't written yet, but I'd love your feedback on it. You always were brutally honest." He teased her with the last part.

"I'm sure that I could help you a little bit if you need it," she said. Of course, her writing was no where near as good as Aaron's, but she could still throw ideas out. Marietta stuck her tongue out playfully. "I've only been brutally honest because you always preferred criticism on your work. But then again I guess I was always biased."

"Nah, I always liked your honesty," Aaron replied, a serious tone in contrast to her sticking her tongue out. He shook his head.
"I just can't get over seeing you again. And do you know, it feels like it's only been days." Except that she was so grown up, and Merlin, she was a stunning woman now. Seven years and world travel had changed her. There was a sophistacated and mature air about her that he found absolutely captivating.

A light blush reappeared on her face. "Me either. You've changed a lot since the last time I saw you. I like the facial hair." She smiled. Aaron was just as handsome as he used to be, and overall, he was still the Aaron Marietta remembered. "Now it only feels like days, but during the trip, it seemed like forever since I had seen or talked to you. The trip was kind of lonely sometimes, but it was still a great trip all the same."

Aaron smiled and brought a hand up to his chin, feeling his beard a little. "Thanks," he told her. "And I'm sincerely glad that I cannot give you the same compliment."
He took another drink from his glass and seemed to settle in more. "Right... you were gone for ages. I should have been better about keeping in touch. Tell me about it... where all did you go?"

Marietta laughed. "Well, I was actually starting to think about growing one," she said teasingly.
"It's alright. You were more than likely busy and I hold nothing against you for it." She drank from her glass. "All over," she said. "Japan, Germany, Russia, Australia, America, Finland, and a lot of other places. I actually brought you something back from Finland. I should have sent it by owl, but I figured that I would give it to you in person. But it was lovely, and the majority of the people were nice. I wouldn't mind going back one day, but I think that I'm going to stay at home for awhile before I travel again."

"I'm a bit impressed that you still call this place home, after being gone for so long," Aaron told her, watching her as she talked about everywhere she had been. He almost envied her for it, but more because he had missed her than the want to travel. She had been one of those people that he thought he had lost touch with forever, an unfortunate casualty of graduating Hogwarts.
And he didn't admit it, but he was surprised she had thought of him enough to bring him back something.
