Perry closed the book shut unable to concentrate in the stuffy dorm room. "Gah!" She mumbled standing up rubbing at her eyes hating the fact she always had trouble sleeping and stood up looking around before grabbing her wand tucking it safely into her pocket and then putting on a dark blue sweatshirt that was about five sizes too big, before finally grabbing her simple acoustic and pulling it over her shoulder and slipping it around so it was on her back.
She walked the hallways as quietly as she could looking for a way out of the school but whacking into a few things accidentally surely there would be a bruise on her shoulder in the morning with her luck, and finally found the door with a triumphant smile.
She looked around the grounds carefully before moving quickly as she jetted into the forest. She blinked around her as she walked into it a little further finding a tree that seemed to be wide enough to block her back and went and sat and pulled her guitar in front of her before leaning back playing a few notes unaware of anyone else lurking around...

Dylan rarely hunted this close to the school. There was too much of a chance that he'd be spotted by a student who foolishly wandered into the forest. But the fact that a girl had been found dead in the woods hadn't even escaped his knowledge. Whispers of foul play had traveled among the creatures of the forest, and eventually reached his ears. Now he felt a need to help protect the innocent students from meeting a similar fate. Since the full moon was more than a week away, it was safe to move a little closer to the school.
His official reason for being there was that he was tracking a large rabbit. But the truth was, he was trying to make sure everything was OK around the school area. Though he was quiet and shy, he could fight fiercely if a student was in danger.
He stopped as he heard a curious sound. It sounded like music. Although he was largely withdrawn from the outside world, he was certainly familiar with music. The centaurs played music often, only it sounded different from this music. He couldn't identify it, and, as curiosity got the better of him, he wandered closer and closer to the sound. He wasn't as cautious as he usually was, and a twig snapped beneath his feet.

Changing her position she moved so she was sitting cross-legged leaning slightly forward starting to make the beat jump quickly making it sound low but at the same time jumpy, in a good way. Perry paused a moment thinking what she could do for the bridge of the song thinking up a few words to go along with it in her head her fingers still lightly on the string.
During this pause she swore she heard a snap and instantly jumped up her wand in her hand instantly ready to do whatever it took, but with her luck it would only be a small animal. She wasn't exactly scared but cautious of anything that just didn't sound right. "Hello? Is anyone there?" She called in a low soft voice although that didn't make much sense since her guitar had been louder than her and was now hanging in front of her thanks to the strap on it.

The music came to an abrupt end, and Dylan saw movement up ahead. He froze. The best thing to do would be to stay put and wait until the student decided to go back to the school. But there was always the chance that instead, they would decide to investigate. And he'd be stuck. He could run away... or he could show himself. The last option was the least pleasant to him. He didn't really like talking, and it was very likely that this person wouldn't be comfortable talking to some random person they met in the forest. And they shouldn't be. A girl had been killed here.
But what if he ran away and the person decided to tell the school authorities? He could end up having a search party going through the forest. That wouldn't be good. So, he took a deep breath and stepped out from behind the trees, his hands raised in surrender.
"Um... hi. Sorry I scared you."

Suddenly she was glad she had chosen a tree to back her knowing nothing could come straight from behind it had to come within her sides, in front or from above, which was unlikely of the four. She squinted her eyes a bit in the darkness seeing movement on her right turning to face it to see a guy coming from in the forest, which for the forbidden forest was, I guess the least of her worries.
Perry let out a breath pushing part of her hair back from her eyes not yet trusting to put down her wand since everyone was bigger and it was her only defense besides the guitar which she would try and keep in perfect condition no matter what happened to herself. "You didn't." She stated simply watching him she had a feeling he didn't go to the school. "Who are you?" She asked with a hint of curiosity in her tone lowering her wand a little but ready at any moment the pull it back up in case she made the mistake of putting it down.

Dylan took another breath. This wouldn't be easy. The girl was holding her stick thing in her hand. She lowered it slightly, but it was still there. He couldn't blame her for wanting to have something to defend herself. But what could he say that would make her less afraid of him? Werewolves like himself were outcasts. He couldn't very well say that he was one of them... it wouldn't help her to trust him. And why should she trust him? These were dangerous times. Even he knew that.
"Dylan," he said simply. "I, uh... I live here. In the forest."

Perry stared at him a moment watching for any little sign that he was a threat, but saw nothing putting it in her pocket but it was within easy reaching distance about five to fifteen seconds to pull it back out if needed, which would probably be more than enough time. Although the words live in the forest came first in her mind. Wasn't it supposed to be dangerous here? Even though she herself was here was a different matter she wasn't there all the time.
"I'm Perry, or Leela, either works." She replied sitting back down with the guitar in her lap and had seen the weird look he gave the wand, "Don't worry I don't hurt people who don't hurt my baby," I said referring to the guitar with a half smile playing a sting. "Why do you live in the forest, wouldn't that be... I don't know... dangerous?"

Dylan watched as she put the stick away. The tension in his muscles eased, and he could breath easier. Still eying her warily, he sat down on a tree stump. "Not dangerous for me," he said. "Lived here as long's I can remember."
He had no memories of the time before he was bitten. And even if he did, he wouldn't want to talk about it. The forest was his home. He knew his way around and he knew what places to avoid.
He watched as she picked up a large, oddly shaped object. He'd never seen anything like it before. He wondered if it was a weapon. "What is that thing?"

She nodded, "Makes sense." She said with a shrug letting the hair falling back in front of her face as she started playing another soft tune this one calmer thinking and humming along softly as she did so when he asked her what it was. Perry looked up in shock, "Wow. You really don't go out much." She sad shocked at the fact guitars had been around since before she was born, and guessing before he was born too, "It's a guitar." She told him seeing the way he was staring at it, "You play music on it..." She added onto it basically showing him since she was picking out sings making a soft melody.
She had grown up with one in her arms, and she got not everyone played, but just not knowing what it was... it was just so odd to meet someone who didn't.

It was true. He didn't get out much. His trips into town were very rare... maybe once or twice every winter. That was usually it. And he'd never seen anything like the object she was holding. "I'm not real comfortable talking with people," he said simply. "I like to stay where I am."
She told him what the object was, and he nodded with interest. "Guitar," he repeated. "It plays different music from what the centaurs play. They use pipes and flutes." He sat a minute and listened to her play. "I like it. It sounds nice."

Perry nodded, she got what he meant, and felt the same way although sometimes she just spoke and made a complete fool of herself when she tried a lot of the time. "I know how ya feel." She muttered her eyes watching the strings glint slightly from the silvery metal moving.
Perry nodded, "Just a little, I personally just like this better than the wind instruments." She said with a shrug, "But then again that's just me..." and playing little tunes that were quickly changing and somewhat upbeat but with a dark hint to it. "Want to learn to play something?" Perry asked with a half smile, "As long as you promise not to hurt it." She said speaking as if it was a person, and it practically was, it was her 'baby' as she liked to say. She loved sharing about music it was usually the only thing that got her talking more than she normally would.

Dylan watched in fascination as she ran her fingers over the strings, filling the air with music. It was beautiful. He liked it much better than the pipes that the centaurs liked to play. "I see how it works," he said. "Those strings... they're pulled tight, and when you pluck them with your fingers, it creates the music." He smiled shyly. "It's beautiful."
He noticed that she was very protective of the instrument, and he couldn't blame her. Her music was to her what his books were to him. And now that he thought about it, he had read about guitars before, but had never seen one to know what they looked like.
"You'd... you'd let me play?" he said cautiously, looking up at her. Even the centaurs wouldn't let him play their pipes. But then, they were never particularly fond of werewolves living in the forest. They tolerated him because he mostly left them alone.

Perry nodded looking up at him, she loved just listening to even just one of the strings being played that's how much of a guitar nerd she was, and jokingly called herself that since it probably did fit better than most labels. "Sure, no-one should ever be deprived of at least trying to play it at least once." She stated not knowing what she would even be like if she hadn't started playing. Probably half way to china losing her mind, or stuck in a crazy clinic.
Her hand hovered over the strings a moment, as the chord rung out soft and low, "Like I said though if you promise not to hurt it.... I must seem like such a dork being so protective of it huh?" Perry said with humor in her tone and a light chuckle knowing she probably did. It must have been one of the most obvious things about her.

Dylan shyly got up, drawn by the lure of trying out the guitar. Normally he would have run away by now, but the instrument fascinated him, and the girl was pleasant. She seemed like a bit of a misfit herself, and he wondered if she liked to use the music to express herself.
He stopped a few feet away from her and knelt down in the soft earth. "I understand you wanting to protect it," he said. "I'm protective of my books. But what is a dork?"

I thought about it a second, "You know what? I'm not sure what it is exactly but the way I use it I mean like a mix between being a nerd and silly." I said with a shrug reminding myself to go look up what a dork really was, that should be an interesting fact, and let her fingers slide over the strings one more time before he came over to her.
Perry pulled the strap off from around her neck, even if it did have a protection spell on it she wasn't taking any chances for that to fail. "So your pretty much a bookworm" She said with a half smile. "And you just slip on the strap, it's easier to hold." She told him. Turning the guitar out a little.

Dylan wasn't sure what a nerd was, either, but he figured he could look it up in his dictionary later back home. She used strange words that he wasn't familiar with. He rather liked it, actually, because he liked learning new words.
He carefully took the guitar from her, putting the strap around his neck as she had done. He liked the way the instrument felt in his hands, and he held it the same way she did. "I guess... yes, I am a bookworm. I like to read... it takes me away to different worlds."
He was generally very shy, but he found people fascinating. Reading was one way to learn about people and what made them tick, without actually having to talk to them. And yet... talking to Perry was easier than he'd thought. Maybe it was because she was as much of a misfit as he was.
He lightly fingered the strings, and a very faint sound came out. "What do I do now?" he asked.
