Alison hadn't ever really gotten this far into a conversation with anyone in a club because she would usually leave them since they were usually not into talking. Although, she found it easy to talk to Geoffrey. Maybe the reason was he was sober.
"Instead of ballet, I work in the Ministry actually." She could have easily lied to him and said some other place, but she didn't feel the need to lie. "It's not really all that boring. I enjoy it most of the time."

Geoff's eyebrows went up. "You work at the Ministry?" he said. "So do I, actually. In the Floo Network department. I could have worked for the family business, but I wanted to try a few things out on my own. And I like working at the Ministry. What department are you in? Maybe we'll run into each other sometime."

She swallowed. Not once had she run into a guy that she had met one night at club after she left for the night. Now she had a high possiblity of running into this one again. Alison wasn't sure how to take that. Maybe she wouldn't actually run into him, after all the Ministry was a pretty big place.
"You work in the Floo Network? That's interesting. I'm in the department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophies. I like working there. I don't think I could really work any place better, other than doing ballet of course. But, who knows, maybe we will run into each other."

Geoff shrugged. "Nah, the Floo Network's not really all that interesting," he said. "Still, it's been a good learning experience. Your department sounds interesting, though. What kind of cases have you worked on?"
He made a decision as he spun her around; he was going to have to make sure they "accidentally" ran into each other at the Ministry. Now that he knew where she worked, it wouldn't be too hard to track her down. He was enjoying himself too much to forget about her so easily.

"The latest case was several muggles were attacked by people in masks and hoods. A few of them died. It was a mess because of their hysteria of the mysterious people coming up and attacking them. Of course after we got all the information, we had to repair their memories so that they wouldn't have a huge blank space in their mind. The department head has been working with the aurors as far as I know. I don't know what else is in store for us to do. Repairing memories is pretty tricky, but it's something I'm decent at." Alison gave a shrug and laughed as he spun her around.
"So, what do you do exactly in the Floo Network department?"

Geoffrey frowned. "An attack on muggles?" he said. "I guess I shouldn't be surprised. But it sounds terrible. I can't undertand why anyone would have anything against muggles... they're so innocent, you know? I actually thought about being an auror, but my potions grades were just not high enough. And my mother thoguht it would be too dangerous, so she talked me out of it."
He spun her around again and moved a little bit closer. "I'm on the Floo Regulation Panel in the department. All we do is check that floos are connected, and we add connections on request, or we remove them. It's kind of boring, but, like I said, it's a learning experience. My family is actually pretty well off... I don't even have to work, really. I just choose to."

"Well, memory charms are my best and I figured that working as an auror, memory charms wouldn't come in handy as much unless I worked in the department of magical accidents and catastrophies. Plus I like the idea of cleaning things up and trying to make it alright again," Alison said with a shrug.
Alison didn't mind that Geoffrey moved closer. "My family is just sort of average I guess you would say. We're nothing really special. I suppose if I wanted to stay at home and not work I suppose I could have. I just wanted to move out and be on my own instead of staying at home. As soon as I got out of school I wanted to find a job although my mum wanted me to wait a little bit."

"That's kind of a nice way of looking at it," said Geoffrey. "Sort of like you're cleaning the slate for them. You should try and move up to the Obliviator squad. You'll get to do more of that and work pretty closely with your same department, and with the aurors."
He shrugged. "Yeah, my mum didn't want me to work at all, or at least to work in one of the family businesses. And I could have, I guess. But, like I said, I wanted to find my own way in the world. I have a feeling I'll end up back in one of the family businesses, but I wouldn't have felt good about myself if I didn't try things my own way first."

"Obliviator squad," Alison repeated amusedly. "That sounds like something from one of those muggle superhero things." She gave a laugh. "Although, I am hopefully going to move up to that. I want to set a name for myself in the department right now and hopefully things will work out and I can move up. Plus, I've been there for almost a year. I'm thinking maybe two years or so in my current position."
"That's nice to hear," she said. "It's nice that some people rather get out and work on their own rather than not work at all." Alison smiled at him as the song finished and a slower paced song came on. "Do you mind dancing to one slow song?"

“Slow dancing? With you? It sounds painful…” Geoffrey teased. He winked at her. “No, I’m just kidding. Of course I don’t mind. As long as you don’t mind if we get a little closer….”
He put his arms around her, with one hand behind her shoulders and the other on the small of her back, then began swaying to the music. “You know, I’m going to have to thank my friends later for daring me to ask you to dance. I’m having a great time.”

Alison gave a fake gasp as he teased her. She laughed and put her arms gently around his neck as he moved closer. She hadn't really been this close while she danced with someone in awhile. The others she had danced with, Alison had tried to keep a little distance between them, but Geoffrey seemed different.
"Maybe I should thank them too sometime," she said with a smile. Alison didn't have any problems swaying with him to music. "This is probably the best night I've had since I started coming here actually. So, thank you," Her cheeks were slightly tinted pink, but she just told herself it was from dancing.

it had actually been a while since Geoffrey had enjoyed himself this much, too. He wasn't exactly the shy type, and whenever he came to the club, he usually danced with lots of different girls. But with Alison, he found he didn't want to stop dancing with her and talking with her.
"I hope you don't think this is a line or something, but do you come here a lot? I mean... I used to come here a lot more than I have been... and I've never seen you before."

She laughed. "It's alright. I wouldn't expect you to use that as a pick up line. You don't really seem the type. I do come in here just about every Friday night if I'm not too tired, but I'm in here just about every Saturday night. Maybe we just come at different times, or maybe I'm just that good at hiding." Alison smiled and laughed again.
Coming to the club was something she enjoyed doing, even if sometimes her nights were bad. Here, she was able to dance and forget about her weekday worries.

Geoffrey shrugged. "I don't know, I guess we must just keep missing each other," he said. "Like I said, I haven't really been here in a little while. But I do know that I'd remember you if I saw you."
He tilted his head as he looked at her, feeling almost shy. "So, besides hanging out at the club and working, what else do you like to do for fun?"

Again, warmth rose in her cheeks and she wasn't sure if her cheeks were already tinted pink from dancing, or if they just turned pink. She would have most definitely remember seeing him too.
"I do like shopping," Alison said with a laugh. "Although a lot of it is just window shopping. Other than that, I do still practice ballet in my apartment. Of course, I have to move all the furniture out of the way. And I like to read occasionally and cook whenever I have enough time. I'm more of the baking type though. I'm not the best in the world, but I get by." She studied his face for a moment. "What do you like to do for fun, other than being persuaded by your buddies to go ask someone to dance," she asked with a smile.

He liked the way her cheeks tinted pink when she blushed. Actually, it was a bit hard to find something he didn't like about her.
"Oh, I don't know. I'm a typical guy, really. I like to hang out with my friends... watch Quidditch... sometimes I even play a little. Not professionally, of course, but some of my friends have a little amateur quidditch league... just a few teams and we take turns playing each other. I play Chaser."

"I do have to say that is pretty impressive," she said. "I never played, but I've always liked to watch." Alison smiled. She could imagine Geoffrey playing quidditch. Flying around on a broom while he took the quaffle.
"Beauxtons wasn't big on quidditch. A lot of girls thought that it was unlady like to play." Alison shook her head. "If we did have teams I would have joined, but then again I had a lot going on between school work and practice. I did however get the watch it."

Geoffrey grinned. "Well, maybe you can come and watch the next time we play. My team won last week, so we're down to the semi-finals. Then if we win that one, then we'll be in for the finals. It's kind of silly, really... we all put some money in a pot, and the winning team gets to split the money. It usually works out to be about 50 galleons a player. It's more about the fun and the bragging rights, you know?"

"That would be entertaining I bet," Alison said smiling. "And I think I'll probably take you up on that offer." Those words slipped from her lips before she knew what she was saying. She just pretty much agreed to see him again, but surprisingly, she wouldn't mind seeing him again. He was the first one that she wouldn't mind it. However, Alison wouldn't be sure how she would act seeing him again.
"That's pretty cool. I'm sure that you've had plently of bragging rights."

Geoffrey laughed. "I haven't won the championship yet. My team usually chokes in the finals. If we make it there at all. Last year, we didn't. We lost in the semi-finals.... that was a heartbreaker." He winked at her. "But you know, I bet I'll do better if I know there's someone in the stands to cheer me on."
He was already excited about the idea of seeing her again. It really did make the idea of playing seem more fun, if he knew someone as pretty as she was would be cheering for him.
