Before the woman shot a spell towards the vampire, he took a second longer to attack. Of course, that move was timed perfectly because of the spell. If he would have moved a second quicker, he would have been hit.
Gregory saw that this was going to be an advantage, and he lunged forward. He aimed for the vampire as quick as he could.

Ryland was not used to anyone having skill over him, and both of these hunters were very skilled. Individually, he could handle them easily, but together was a challange.
He sprang back, and his eyes turned to the girl. He didn't have time to get to her before the man lunged towards him, and he hesitated. It allowed Gregory time to attack him, but he fought back just enough to evade him and then escape into the cover of the night, leaving the two hunters alone.

Gregory cursed as the vampire slipped away. There was no use in chasing him tonight. He would be on the look out for him again. There were more important things, like seeing if the woman was alright.
Sighing, Gregory turned toward the woman and walked up to her. He looked at her curiously. His eyes asking the question his mind was thinking, why was she here in Knockturn Alley of all places? However, his lips didn't utter that question. "Are you alright," he asked.

Roxy decided in a split second that she was going to continue with the damsel in distress ploy, and she turned wide, doe eyes on Gregory and nodded a little slowly.
"What was that thing?" She asked, wondering how much Gregory knew about what she had been hunting. "He was so fast..."

He looked her over and didn't see any place where she was hurt too badly. Once he was satisfied from studying her, Gregory ran a hand through his already messy hair.
"A vampire," Gregory said simply. "There hadn't been a real bad problem with them around here. It's like they'll be around for a little while, then disappear. But they usually try and keep their attacks low key, unless of course they're wanting to make a name for themselves."

Should she make him feel strong and manly? Of course, there was always the possibility that he was a hunter... she just couldn't tell looking him over. Maybe he was an amatuer hunter. There was no way to be sure without outright asking him, so she strode towards him and held out her hand. "Well, you saved me from him, then. Thank you."

Gregory eyed the woman's hand for a second. He didn't give many handshakes, there was no need to, but this was one of the times he needed to. He stretched out his hand and took the woman's hand in his and shook it.
"It was no problem," he said. There was no 'I'm so macho' tone to his voice, it was just like a normal conversation. "It's what I do." He gave a shrug. Gregory gave her a smile. "Do you mind if I ask your name?"

She hesitated. Her name was an easy one to research, if someone had the inclination, but she also couldn't come up with a name better than "Trixie" off the top of her head, and that would only make her sound like a lady of night, as they were called.
"I'm Roxanne," she said, purposely leaving out her last name. "And you are...?"

"It's nice to meet you Roxanne." He gave her a nod. It wasn't very often that he smiled, and this time he wasn't cracking a smile. He had never really found a good reason to smile.
"Gregory," he responded also leaving out his last name. He figured that last names were not important. "Do you want me to walk you out of here?" Gregory thought that he'd be nice and offer to walk with her out of Knockturn Alley, although his words did come out a little awkwardly.

Roxanne shook her head. She wanted to find that damned vampire, and she was angry that he had gotten the best of her. It was nice of Gregory to offer, but she needed to hurry before she lost the vampire's trail.
"Thank you," she said as sweetly as she could muster. "But now. I can find my own way out safely."

He raised an eyebrow at her. There was something about this woman. Usually, the people would want help out of there, but this one didn't. "If you say so," Gregory responded. He figured that he shouldn't say anything about her decision to go out alone. "Although, don't try and get revenge on that vampire. I can tell you that he's long gone."
Gregory gave her a final nod and he was unsure about if he should just leave her there or if he should go against her wishes. Roxanne seemed confident in her choice of action. He would start walking out slowly and listen out for the way she would go.

Yes, she knew that vampire was long gone, and it pissed her off. Oh well... what could she do but try and find him again? She couldn't be angry and Gregory, as he had introduced himself. He had saved her life, after all.
She gave him a playful look. "Do I look like the revenge type to you?" She asked as she began to walk away, in the opposite direction of where the vampire had taken off.

Gregory stopped and turned to face her. He glanced her over. Usually, he was pretty good at spotting other hunters, but this one he wasn't sure about. "I don't know," he called it. "Possibly."
There was something about the woman and Gregory watched her walk away as he tried to put his finger on it. He couldn't make sense of what was different about her. Maybe if he slept on it he would figure it out.

Did he suspect? She showed no worry in he features or any sign that anything was wrong.
Instead of answering him, she continued to walk away, hoping he would leave soon enough that she could try and pick up the vampire's trail again. She had a sinking feeling that Gregory was right... he was long gone, and the more time she wasted, the further away the vamire got.

Gregory watched the woman disappear. She seemed to be the kind that would be alright on her own. Roxanne appeared to be a woman that was determined and could stand her ground. Sighing and disappointed that the vampire got away, he started to head back toward the Three Broomsticks were he had decided to room while he was back in town for a little while. He would need his sleep for tomorrow. Gregory thought possibly about contacting the Ministry about anything that they needed to be hunted and disposed of around here. There was no use to have an apartment because he was always going everywhere.
