Kristen watched him as he got up from the table in search of my whipped cream. She turned around in her chair so that she could observe what he was doing. "Yeah. I bet you'll just put it on your pie first. And it wouldn't be a surprise because I would already know that even if you do put the whipped cream on your pie first, you'll still fling it, so what's the point?" She raised an eyebrow and shook her head at his grin.

Reese laughed, coming back and adding a generous amount of the cream to his pie. "You're far too smart to be in Hufflepuff, Cupcake. How on earth did the hat decide you should go yellow?"
He took an exagerrated bite of his pie, teasing her. "The point is all for pretense, doll."

"Are you trying to imply that hufflepuffs are not supposed to be smart?" Kristen raised an eyebrow. "Oh, we're smarter than you think we are." She still watched him to make sure that he didn't decide to fling anything else at her. "And I don't know. I kinda like being in Hufflepuff, and that's not because I have to." She carefully bit into her sandwich.

"That's exactly what I'm trying to imply." Reese didn't have anything against Hufflepuff. Kristen could have been sorted into Ravenclaw and he would have made fun of them instead. He just honestly liked giving Kristen a hard time with just about anything.
"Oh, man, look at all this extra whipped cream on my pie."

Kristen just rolled her eyes at him. It never failed that he gave her a hard time, and she tried to return the favor whenever she could.
At the mention of whipped cream, she looked at him again. "Don't even think about it," she said. "If you fling any of that stuff at me, I promise I will get you back for every bit you fling at me. I may not get completely even at the moment, but I will finish up getting even when you least suspect it."

Reese grinned impishly and took the forkful of whipped cream in his mouth teasingly. "I'd like to see you try, Cupcake," h goaded her. Unlike him, however, she didn't fall to challenges so easily. At least, not the ones he gave her, which was probably better for the both of them.
"One of these days, you'll see the error of the hat's ways and realize I would like you so much more if you weren't a Hufflepuff."

"Oh, I bet you'd like to see me try, but too bad you wouldn't even see it coming." Kristen gave him an innocent smile. She tried her best to fall through with whatever she said she was going to do and getting revenge was something she liked to do, especially when it was Reese teasing her.
"What is so bad about being a Hufflepuff? Besides, I didn't tell it to put me anywhere."

"I'll pretend to be surprised for you. But it's only because I like you," Reese replied with a superior smirk.
"Come on, darling. It's Hufflepuff. It's all sunshine and flowers and hugs. And no one looks good in yellow." Except you.
It was an unexpected thought in his mind that he tried to shut out quickly, and he didn't say it outloud. "Where's the fun in being happy and friendly all the time?"

"I promise you won't even have to pretend," Kristen said with a shake of her head.
"It's not all sunshine and flowers and hugs, you're just thinking about Gilderoy. I didn't know you swung that way." She gave him a teasing grin. "Do I look like I'm happy and friendly all the time? No sir. And that's just the stereotypical Hufflepuff. You should come visit in the common room and see for yourself that its not really like that."

"You always look like you're little miss sunshine, Sunshine," Reese told her, stopping himself from winking. "But that might just be the yellow scarves."
He leaned forward, his grin becoming almost predatory. "Are you inviting me to your common room, Kristen? You know, I have ways of getting past that charm to the girl's dorms."
He was lying, actually. He hadn't figured that one out, and hadn't tried very hard either. He wasn't the dog he pretended to be.

"Maybe it is the yellow scarves that make it look that way, but I promise you it's not like you think it is."
Kristen's eyebrows raised and patted his cheek gently, before giving her own grin. "If you want it to see it that way, then you go right ahead. And you can attempt to get around the charm to the girl's dorms, but just because you get up there wouldn't mean anything, we could always just chase you back down the stairs."

Reese's expression grew more serious, and it was hard to tell if he was still teasing her or not.
"What's it really like, Kristen? Hufflepuff, I mean. Are you actually a dark, brooding lot?" He quirked a smiled at this to show that even if she said yes, he wouldn't believe that for one second. "Anyway, for the record, I know not all of you are like Gilderoy. I wouldn't be here if you were."

"That is what we are. We like to sit in the corners of the common room and just brood over everything," she said teasingly. "Seriously, we're just like any other house, except for the fact that Gildroy is there. Sometimes in the common room people read, do homework, study, talk. We're not any different really." Kristen shrugged, but then grinned. "There is no way in the world I think there could be enough room for another Gilderoy."
