Breaking Away (Severus)

[Natalie St. Clare]

Natalie's relief was a weight lifted from her shoulders. Ever since the feeling of dread had set in, she had worrried about Severus. Part of her wished she could get a better sense of what was supposed to happen, but another part of her didn't want to know. Whatever was supposed to happen would not be stopped. It would happen one way or another, and if it wasn't this week, it would be the next. This was a certainty that she felt, somewhere deep in her bones. The wizarding world was about to be plunged into a war, and the casualties would be heavy.

But as Severus asked her to the ball, all of that momentarily faded into the background for her. Suddenly she was a normal, shy adolescent girl again, being asked to do something that a normal adolescent girl would do. It felt good, having those pressures lifted, even if only for a moment. A blush crept onto her cheeks.

"It's a deal," she replied, smiling her tiny smile at him.

[Severus Snape]

Severus felt very pleased that she accepted the trade. He probably would of gone into hogsmead if she had said no just to spite her. He did have an awfully bitter streak in him after all. "Then I'm happy."
"Tell you what, If something bad does happen, we'll meet here again." he smiled and continued "That way you won't be alone in knowing before hand."

Natalie nodded. "That's a good idea," she said.

Smiling shyly, she looked down at the floor. "Maybe this could be, like... our spot. Kind of like the tree. No one comes up here.... it's abandoned. It's been forgotten for so long, I can't even get a sense of what it was for. Maybe a lookout tower from the old days when this was actually a castle, only there wouldn't have been glass on the windows then."

[Severus Snape]

Severus thought for a moment and said "Maybe one of the founders just wanted to be alone..." He often liked the idea of being alone, being left alone and doing things alone.
He gave Natalie a side long look and thought 'maybe to be alone with someone' but shoved that thought far away from being voiced out loud.
"It's comfortable at least! We just need a few chairs or maybe a big pillow or two..." He liked the idea of sitting on a large pillow. He wondered if one could sit on a pillow and look cool.

Natalie thought about this for a minute. It sounded like fun, just setting up a little place where they could sit and be away from the rest of the world. "We could stock up on pillows and blankets and maybe even food. We could keep them up here for whenever we meet here. It would be fun. I just want to be away from all the other people and their secrets and their sorrows.... It's all too much."

[Severus Snape]

Severus nodded, "If I was better at transfiguration, I'd make the pillows and chairs..." and he mentally added the ability to conjure to that too. He just didn't have that ability yet. He wondered if he could possibly brew a potion that would work like a transfiguration, but that seemed too difficult and discarded the idea. "We could shrink the things we want and bring them up here that way." he supplied

"That's a good idea," Natalie said. "It would be hard to carry lots of things up here at once, because someone might see us and be suspicious. You could make a batch of shrinking solution, right? And the antidote, for when we get back up here. That way no one would suspect anything at all."

She was getting unusually excited, thinking of all the fun and intrigue in smuggling supplies up to a secret location. It would be like making a little place for themselves. Like a home away from home.

[Severus Snape]

Severus almost could of slapped himself! Of course shrinking solution! Of course his mind had to go and think of something far more difficult first! "You have wonderful insight! I'll brew up a batch of both tomorrow night, Slughorn really doesn't mind if I'm the one using the potions classroom after hours. Do you want to join me?"
He asked really without thinking about it, but as he realized what he had asked embarrassment settled in him stomach, He was asking her to be alone with him... like he was right now, Was this a date?! did this qualify? They kissed too! He took a moment and stopped his circular train of thought in it's tracks. None of that mattered. That was his final thought on that and so be it. It made his head stop spinning at least!
