Looking over at Derek, Christian noticed he was looking at Diana, turning his head to face her, he noticed she had a look of intense rage on her face. Approaching Diana his eyes stayed locked onto hers, his body language said very little and his eyes even less. "So tell me Diana, what is it that is so important your willing to jeopardize people's lives? Oh and if it makes you feel any better, if I would of stayed in bed that night, yes I would of been there in the morning but shortly after I would of been tortured and killed. So I guess you would of lost me either way eh?" Turning around he couldn't bare to face the burden of his pain any longer.

That wasn't fair. It was a cheap shot actually.
But it did wonders for diffusing her anger not completely of course but she was slowly coming to the realization that he really feared for his life.
But who cared?! She allowed him that month and after when he couldn't find her, but she had searched for him! She had sent out owls after owls. She didn't want to raise a baby by herself. Even her father agreed that if she was to go through with this that she would need a father for the baby and he added his own efforts to the search. Why did Christian just have to disappear, why couldn't he hear her when she cried for him? Oh it was a stupid question, but she had been a romantic girl once and thought that if she cried hard enough, if she wished badly enough, and if she did everything good like she was supposed to that he would find her, and that things would be okay, but he hadn't found her, and things weren't okay.
"It's none of your business." she said her voice hardening as she answered his first question. No it wouldn'tve comforted her if he had died, but she just wanted to know why he hadn't found her, why they couldn't have found eachother. She had believed for so long, for too long that he didn't care for her, it was too hard to go back on those beliefs no matter how much he professed otherwise now.

Derek contemplated leaving, he really did. If there wasn't a meeting called he would have been gone. He didn't like these sticky situations and as far as he could tell these two had years of issues to work out. Alone. There was a small pang as he realized Diana was going to be someone he would never have. He saw her passion, even though it was buried beneath layers of ice, he saw it whenever she talked about getting her daughter back, but even that had been dimmed by the lack of hope in her spirit. But he saw her now, the inferno, the raging passion that she had and it was all directed at Christian.
Derek wasn't sure he could handle all of that from a woman, he didn't think any man was able to handle what he saw in Diana's eyes, but he knew the man, who had Diana's heart was a lucky bastard all the same, the men who had the hearts of women who were filled with that amount of passion, yes they were all lucky bastards.

Rage ignited within Christian as he listened to her uncaring words, history or not a man deserved to know the reason he was going to die. Twirling around his eyes appeared as if they were trying to bore holes through Diana. "You listen to me...." Mentally flipping through the book of curse words he had wanted to call her at that moment, his body didn't seem to want to follow his silent commands. "We looked for each other, we didn't find each other. My life is based on the art of not being found and I couldn't find you without going back to that...place. If you wish to blame me for something I had no control over then feel free." With a quick flick of his wrist, his wand jumped from it's holster on his forearm to his hand.
"I have killed hundreds of men, women and.....children for the cause, for the Dark Lord. I think I deserve an explanation as to why someone else wants to end it for me..."

She jumped up to meet his gaze unflinchingly then stared at his wand for a second then looked back up at him, "What are you going to do Christian? Kill me too?" she laughed in his face, "Kill Derek?" she growled, "I'm not that girl anymore. You don't scare me. Death doesn't scare me, none of it! My hands aren't clean, I've torn a man to pieces with my bare hands and now they're stained so badly I can't get it off." and she hated it. The man had been a client who visited the children at the "orphanage" Whistler's man ran and he was particularly cruel to the child before he performed his perverted acts and Diana had saw red. The man enjoyed seeing blood, it was the only way he could bring himself satisfaction, well Diana had given him blood, his own, and she made him choke on it. But there were some things, some images she just couldn't burn out of her brain and she wanted to. She wanted to be that innocent girl who had fallen in love with a boy so long ago. She wanted to be capable of facing her daughter without shame, without horrible guilt riding through her, but it was something she would have to face later, until that point, until she could face her daughter she was more or less a machine, doing anything and everything to find her daughter.
Although sometimes she didn't think she was worthy, now staring in Christian's eyes, knowing they had both killed people, knowing they were both monsters she brought his hand with his wand and aimed it directly at her. Maybe he didn't believe that she was willing to die for this "important" thing as well, maybe he just didn't believe her period. But she was more serious than she had ever been. She stared hard in his eyes for a long time waiting for him to say the spell that would end her life. Whether he would have done it or not it wouldn't have mattered, he took too long and she was coming to her senses, she pushed his hand out of the way.
Her throat almost closed however when her mind registered the fact that he said he had killed Children. That was something that she of course had never done.
Children? What children? Whose Children?! Did he know?! Her heart was pounding even more fiercely now, she turned enraged towards Derek pinning him with glacial eyes.
"This man...this man you're taking me to see... he demands the lives of Children?!"

Interrupting any chance Derek had of responding to Diana, Christian laughed. "The Dark Lord demands the deaths of all those who are not pure bloods. Only through the destruction of the weak can the true strength of wizarding society, the pure bloods truly excel." A sparkle of pride seemed to shine in his eyes as he thought about the day they would achieve their goal. "When our goal becomes reality, the Dark Lord shall rule the world and his loyal Death Eaters, those who fought and sacrificed for him shall have more power than they could ever imagine..."
Turning to stare directly at Diana his eyes seemed a bit sunken and sad. "My great sacrifice for the Dark Lord was you, all I had left to look forward too was the power I would receive. Yet, now even that may be lost to me..."

It was another blow to her system she almost fell down in fact she didn't know what kept her standing. Christian had killed children...any who were not of pure blood. But that was ridiculous, there were really very few pure blooded families, was this Voldemort creature, and yes he was a creature now, was he even sure of his own pedigree (Ooc: I love it because he isn't a pureblood *shakes head*)? Diana was, the necklace she wore with the diamond pendant was a "Crawford Tear" all Crawford females wore them and once the necklace was clasped on, if you were truly a Crawford, it couldn't be removed, but your blood had to be pure as well. Meaning that if Diana had slept with...heaven forbid a muggle then her daughter would not have received the Crawford Tear, or she may have, but it would have been simple enough to take the necklace away.
Diana doubted her daughter had even been given the gem...and even if she had would another D.E. even know what it was?
This had to be a maniacal society, only purebloods? How many families was that? Why you'd be getting rid more than eighty percent of the wizarding community. Bloodlines, strong Bloodlines even would be discarded too? What about those who mixed with the purebloods? Families would be destroyed all over it would be chaos. That couldn't really be their goal.
Diana blinked. Derek hadn't explained this. His words were much more soothing, he hadn't spoken about the goal that much at all, but rather the power to find Diana's daughter. He spoke about the obvious difference between muggles and Witches and Wizards, and Diana knew the persecution that their kind had faced for so long. Derek said that the movement was more about keeping things separate, keeping the bloodlines pure, and she knew all this because she had been raised a pureblood woman.
Maybe if they had come at her long ago, maybe if she had been as young as she was when she had been with Christian. Maybe if she hadn't seen the true horrors of this world that man inflicted upon itself. Maybe if now she wasn't thinking of all the nameless faces all the innocent children Christian had killed...maybe if she hadn't kept thinking of her own daughter being one of those nameless children could she have controlled her rage.
"Power..." she whispered, "Power...? That's what you're after? You sold your soul to the devil for something as meaningless as power? What power do you need Christian? The power to hurt? The power to kill? The power to have anything you want? But what do you want? What is so important to you that you'd kill a child? You'd take innocent life and never even know if the life you were taking..." she swallowed thickly, "Oh Godric...Oh Merlin please help me..." she whispered tears quickly clouding her vision, " What did you want Christian? Respect? Me? You have irrevocably lost both of those things..I can't love you...not anymore...not like this."
Her mouth closed she had to control herself and get over her grief, she had to find anger, anger would keep her standing. She found her anger in the thought that Christian didn't even care, he killed children and he didn't even care. Through what fault was it of the child that his parents weren't pureblooded? Through what fault was it of the parents that they weren't pureblooded? One could not choose what one's parents did before they were born. And her daughter...
Her sweet daughter tossed into some system...she was sure to be spotted as a mixed blood, or a rarity from muggles to produce a child with magic...who would know that she descended from two prestigious families?
"I'm leaving now." she couldn't, she wouldn't be a part of this, "Heaven spare me that I didn't kill you both, that I didn't prevent anymore innocent bloodshed." and she had been tempted, her own hand on the blades she concealed.
Her eyes strayed to Christian's and it was a burning look, not from anger but from the total lack of anything in her eyes, as if somehow Christian had literally killed her spirit. It was the look she gave her father when he told her that her daughter hadn't made it. It was a look that made her father contemplate ending his own life to undo what he had done. Fourteen years later he had brought her back with the simple confession, Diana may have hated him but she was breathing again, she had some purpose once more and that was to find her daughter. But just as her father had done Christian extinguished that light in Diana's eyes. Diana was gone.
"Don't let me find you again..." she said in barely a whisper her voice couldn't sustain the pain speaking would cause. Her warning was a simple one, if she did see Christian again she'd kill him.
Then she left both men there.

Derek was uttering a string of curses when she walked away, he did not want to be called into Voldemort's chamber now... Merlin what was he going to do? Well there was that new artifact that could be brought to Voldemort's attention...thank Godric he had it or else he would have been in deeper than he already was.
His own business settled he glanced at Christian to see how well he was taking Diana's words, the man probably had no clue what was going on, but Derek did.
Then Derek thought of Diana, and he thought of her daughter...indeed it would be a tragedy of irony if Christian...in doing his duty to the Dark Lord, had inadvertently killed his own daughter, how would any of them know?

Christian stood as still as a statue as Diana verbally assaulted both himself and Derek. An unfamiliar wetness seemed to coat his eyes before he quickly blinked it away, still watching Diana walk away from him. He had the urge to run after her, to tell her he had never killed a child but no, he knew her well enough to know that is the only thing to get her to walk away. Turning to Derek, he could see his fellow Death Eater was contemplating something in his head. His eyes showed nothing but a solemn, seriousness as he spoke. "As far as she is concerned i'm a child killer. Anyone who tells her different, dies."
"Also, if you know something I don't, tell me." Nodding his head to indicate Diana, "I told you our story, if she needs help I want to help her..." He paused hoping Derek was at least kind enough to tell him anything he might of gained from her during his time alone with Diana.

Derek raised a brow, "I had wondered when you became a child killer Ward." he said studying the man. "That's better done to DesRossier or Morley." he shrugged, they all had their specialties and quite a few of them had their limits, while they were all utterly faithful to their Lord, good DEs had gotten away because they were unwilling to kill children, thus Voldemort didn't ask that of all his members. Certainly Derek hadn't killed or harmed any children, but there were those in the fraction which did.
He shook his head, "I...She should be the one to tell you...and you're really..." Derek frowned, "How long are you here for?" he asked, this conversation would take a while and likely not something that could be done when either of them were to be called in.

Christian watched Derek intently as he spoke to him, yes he was glad Derek didn't say anything questionable about the child killing issue. It was a big one among the Death Eaters especially since most had children and the Master always told them, the pure blooded children are the wave of the future, their loyalty is blind and their talents able to be molded.
"I am here for as long as I wish, the Master isn't expecting me and the information I carry is not in any rush to get to him, why do you ask?"

"I unfortunately now...have a meeting..." he sighed, he would muddle through, he never told Voldemort about his recruit anyway.
"But assuming I live through this meet me at the Rusty Nail.." he chuckled, "I have a feeling that after our discussion you may want to hurt somebody...and there's always scum at the Rusty Nail." plus he wanted to make sure Lia didn't change her mind about working there.

Christian nodded as he spoke, he had hoped Derek didn't previously inform the Master of bringing a recruit. "Okay, will do." He was about to find out something important and he had hoped it was the secret that Diana refused to share with him, who Diana's daughter was. She had made it clear that it wasn't his so Christian wanted to know who it was, he would make the pathetic man pay for his insolence. He left Diana because he had too, a mistake he will have to regret for the rest of his life, this other guy...he couldn't of had a good reason. Turning to look at the Master's door he smiled and looked towards the exit.
"I will head to the Nail, this isnt that important anyways. I'll handle it and then take the credit for showing initiative." Chuckling he waved to Derek as he left the headquarters and headed to the Rusty nail.
