Derek was unable to get Diana to the first meeting since neither of them were prepared to be in town. He could have kicked himself for it except, how was he supposed to know? In any case he had to tread lightly and graciously to get her this appointment and he was banking on her not screwing up. It was not his first recruit, but it would be a recruit that had merit or so he hoped, still he was eager. Too eager perhaps and now he was worrying that he hadn't prepped Diana fully for this interview yet.

Diana had a few things on her mind, not one of the least pressing was this issue with "the Dark Lord". It sounded a bit pretentious to her but who was she to judge? Then there was that whole Christian interlude...her heart still pounded from their...reunion. It seemed now her life was fast tracking once again. She bemoaned it, why couldn't her life just keep a steady pace?
No it was either whizzing right past her or going no where. She wasted fourteen years on being empty but she didn't mean to make up for it in only a year and in that year she had done so many things and seen so many things, she wondered how she would go back once all of this was over...when she found her daughter, and she *would* find her daughter.
She met with Derek at a coffee shop that morning, and then, since she didn't know where the Dark Lord was at or where she was supposed to meet him let Derek lead her. She was blindfolded and she didn't like losing the sense but she was explained that it was for her own protection.
Now she was simply waiting with Derek until Voldemort was ready.

A muffled thump was all the sound there was to give away the body that had hit the ground of the small shop. Christian looked down at the corpse of the Hit Wizard that had chased him all the way from Godric's Hollow to Hogsmeade. Hearing voices coming from other rooms of the small shop he had trapped his prey in, Christian silently swore as he quickly disappeared with a crack.
Appearing just outside the headquarters a quick wave of his wand dropped the protections and another wave brought them back up as he entered. Quickly making his way to the Master's chamber's he stopped suddenly in his tracks as something very familiar caught his eye. "..Diana...?"

Diana spun at his familiar voice, she hadn't seen him since the hotel and hadn't expected on seeing him again. In fact she was rather proud of herself for leaving him. She wanted to see how he liked it. Course she was also kicking herself because she wanted him even more now and she didn't know how to kill that feeling.
Suddenly they were face to face again, and the thrill that coursed through her body every time she saw him was electric. She got a hold of herself however when she started thinking. What was Christian doing here? Did he follow her? That could be very bad for him.
"What are you doing here?" she asked with a slight clip to her words.

Derek turned at the voice as well and was surprised to see Christian coming down upon them. He was even more surprised that Christian seemed to know Diana. How was that possible when he had gotten Diana here less than a week ago?
Well he knew it was possible for them to have met of course but the way she was eying Christian was a look Derek had been trying to get into her eyes ever since he met her, and Derek was the best at that sort of thing, at least he liked to tell himself he was.
How the hell had Christian stepped in and gotten there first?

Christian had to remind himself where he was and who he was around several times before snapping out of the daze he had entered whenever he seemed to be around Diana. "What am I doing here?" Christian finally noticed that Derek had been standing by Diana, that had to be why Diana was there. With a quick motion he pulled back the right sleeve of his robes, exposing his forearm and the mark burned into it. "I am a faithful servant of the Dark Lord.." His eyes moved over to lock onto Derek, his angel built slightly at the sight of him how could he think to bring Diana into this world, it was a dangerous one no place for her.
"Derek...what is she doing here?"

Diana's eyes fell straight to the mark on his arm and she tilted her head, how had she not noticed that before?
Parting her lips a bit in confusion she looked between the two men and noticed the hostility in Christian's eyes. Darting a glance back to Derek she noticed he looked confused but only for a moment until he regained composure and answered in a smooth voice.

"What do you think she's doing here?" he returned. He was still a little off center with the scorn in the man's tone. Derek wasn't stupid Christian was a skilled assassin. His arms shifted a little to make his wand more available in case. He didn't think the man would attack him, but so far he was finding a lot of things to be odd.
"I've brought her to join our cause." he answered boldly.

Christian lowered his anger a bit after Derek's response, how could he bring himself to be angry over something like this. Diana made it more than clear to him that she wanted nothing more to do with him, regardless of how he felt or the reason why he had left that morning. Approaching Diana he looked at her with a small hint of sadness in his eyes and nodded towards the door that led to where the Master awaited. "This is why I left that morning..." Moving on to Derek he clapped his comrade on the shoulder and leaned in close.
"My apologies Burke, I thought she might of been another one of your quickies." Chuckling as he pulled away he leaned against the wall opposite of Derek waiting for the Dark Lord's summons.

Diana watched him closely. He had made his excuses to her before and she didn't accept them. Now he was saying that this was why he had left...this...man or whoever he was that Diana was supposed to be meeting was the reason Christian had left her?
Oh she was feeling warm fuzzies for the guy already. Still...Diana didn't know.
She had lived away from the hostility and had very little idea that it had escalated to this extent, she had no real idea about the cause or how serious they were all taking such matters. She didn't know Voldemort's power or his retribution.
So when Christian's excuse was that he had left her for a man's orders, she was not appeased.
Only curious, as to why Christian feared his "boss" so much, if it was that dire he could have quit...couldn't he? She sighed giving up the matter entirely before she went and sat opposite of Christian ignoring both men for the time being.

Derek too was staring at Christian oddly, both for the almost uncontrolled rage that had been in his eyes a second ago, and then for the abrupt change. He had to admit he was a little relieved, fighting Christian was not something he wanted to do...ever, the man had quite a few hits on him and had been doing it before Derek even had a wand in his hand.
He tried to discern what was between them by looking at them both first one than the other but nothing came to mind except that the two had obviously been lovers at some point. If only for the added tension in the air that Derek could innately sense as sexual and amusingly enough, frustrated.
Then Christian surprised him again by clapping him on the shoulder and saying that he thought Diana was one of his quickies. Christian would know Derek well enough, well any DE would know any other DE well enough that they didn't bring casual flings to the Dark Lord to impress a date, that was a contract for murder. It was an odd thing to say at least in Derek's point of view.
Then something rather defeated hit Christian's eyes as he walked away and Derek who had been confused before had nothing more to figure and simply gave up.
He looked back at Diana though and wondered back to his first worries...was she really ready for this? Did she know what she was getting into? Would she be able to handle it? Was she prepared for this world of danger and darkness?

Christian stood against the wall forcing his eyes to stare at the ground beneath his foot as they seemed to acquire a mind of their own and began wondering over to Diana every now and then. Was she truly ready for what she was about to do, did she even know the full consequences for her actions or did Derek half explain everything, why hadn't she come to him for this. She didn't know he was a Death Eater, even if she did he doubted she would just because she seemed to despise his existence. "Are you really prepared for what you are about to undertake Diana? The Dark Lord accepts nothing less than complete loyalty."

Diana glanced upwards surprised to see that he had moved from the wall. Merlin how much of an affect did he have on her senses that she wouldn't notice him moving forward? She took a deep breath, it wasn't hesitation it was Christian. Everything about him made her pause, she had to think and she had to concentrate twice as hard to do it only because Christian muddled everything.
"I need his help." she said simply. Then frowned. She hated that Christian did that to her too, sometimes he just blocked everything rational out of her mind and she had no defenses to prevent herself from telling him the truth.

Derek might have been angry when Christian went over to talk to Diana. He had been sort of possessive over her since she arrived, she was his "kill" so to speak. He was the one bringing her to the dark Lord, and yet he wasn't angry this go around because Christian had the nerve to ask what Derek was hesitant to. Was Diana ready? Oh it would be hell for Derek if he arranged a meeting with the Dark Lord and had nothing to show for it, but it would be even worse if he got Diana initiated and then Diana failed to perform.

Christian sighed at Diana's pathetic excuse for wanting to join the Death Eaters. "Diana...." He paused not being able to think of the proper words, what could she possibly need help with that she needed the Dark Lord. "You don't seem to understand..." Lowering his head to stare at the ground, not wishing to meet her eyes and see the hatred for him there. "If he helps you, you will become one of us." Nodding to indicate Derek as well, he built up the courage to meet her eyes once more. "The Master does not accept failure, if you fail in your duties your life will be forfeit as will Derek's for failing to bring a suitable recruit, bloody hell Diana! He'd probably kill me as well just for knowing you."

She looked up at him and her brows rose her eyes widening, " He'd kill you for knowing me?" her lips almost twitched in a smile, it wasn't funny but how many times honestly had she wanted to kill him. Suddenly sobering up she realized she didn't want him dead. She had wanted to hurt him yes but she couldn't let him go all the way, not yet, it would take time...even more time than she had previously thought.
She sighed, then lowered her eyes to the ground, "Is that supposed to scare me?" Diana had changed she didn't fear death like a normal person, really she didn't fear anything, she had nothing to lose, she just wanted her daughter.
"I told you. I need his help."

Derek's brows rose. It scared him. He didn't want to die, and he didn't know many people who had no fear of death something about that made Diana a little more unnatural to him, a little bit more intriguing.
Still her words didn't comfort him any, and he still didn't know if she was ready.
"Okay..wait a minute...How do you two know eachother?" he asked, he had to know now.

Christian nearly reached out and throttled the lovely woman standing before him. She was like a child playing in a big kid's world and she didn't even know the first thing about it. Once again listening to her excuse that she needed his help, he turned towards Derek when his curiosity finally got the better of him. "It's quite and intriguing story Derek, you see it all takes place fifteen years ago." Turning towards Diana, with all the theatrical flare he could muster he slid towards Diana.
"Two schoolmates meet up once again, both adults both very much feeling a mutual attraction." Turning back towards Derek, he beamed and winked at his fellow Death Eater. "A week of intense passion passes and the young schoolmates are on fire for each other." Turning back towards Diana he leaned in and for a brief moment his lips met hers and then he pulled back slowly. "Until the fateful night came when I was called out on assignment by the Master.." Stepping back towards the wall behind him, he looked over at Derek once more. "When I returned nearly a month later, the Ministry had people watching the place we had met, and I could no longer find my passionate partner for that incredible week."
"I hope you enjoyed the story as much as I appreciate the memory Derek. This selfish witch is about to sacrifice our lives for something so important she needs the help of the strongest wizard in the world."

Diana blushed at everything he said and she would have stopped him but her mouth didn't seem to work, her body didn't seem to move. He was recanting their history and making it seem like it was nothing at all just a fling between to kids. He was completely innocent and she was selfish.
Here teeth were grinding and her jaw was clenched she was close to but fighting back tears.
It had been hell. Utter hell. Perhaps if she hadn't gotten pregnant. If he had just left her, then she could have moved on. Had a family of her own, a new life. But he had gotten her pregnant, and then he was just gone with no explanation. She endured months of hell from her father who was less than supportive in all ways. And finally...the accident, which took the baby's life and nearly her own, or so she had thought. Diana was so injured from that accidents the doctors believed it would be fatal for her to get pregnant again and she had never tried, she didn't want to be touched by anything or anyone after Christian had touched her.
She also didn't know why she felt heat rising to her cheeks over Christian revealing that they had been intimate. As if she were eighteen again and he was bragging to one of his buddies about her being seduced, naive girl that she was.
By the time he was finished she was just nearly shaking with rage.
What she was looking for, what she wanted, she would have died for it, and she would have given Christian's life for it, even Derek's. She couldn't make herself care anymore, not when she had learned the ugliness of the world and what it did to a child left defenseless, she would do anything and everything she had to, to find her daughter and keep her safe.

Derek listened intently and watched the man as he put on his performance. Both of them seemed too charged and in the same room likely explosive.
As he went on a few things became clear to Derek. First of all and most surprising was that he was looking at the man, the father of Diana's child. Secondly, Christian didn't know he was the father. Third, he most definitely didn't know that Diana was searching for her daughter and that was what in her mind was so important to go to the most powerful wizard in the world.
"I see.." he said quietly after Christian was done, but his eyes were on Diana.
Derek was the only one with all the pieces, the only one who knew exactly what happened to you if you disobeyed a command, he knew the reason that Christian had left, and he knew that Christian would have had to avoid the hotel. He was also a guy and he figured that Christian would probably, after not being able to find Diana, just move on...no real harm done after all Christian was much younger then, just about Derek's age now. But Derek knew what Diana had been through as well, it simply seemed that Fate had a fun time screwing both of them.
He didn't know what to say really, but even after learning everything that he had learned it was subsiding, shock and all, due to the murderous rage written on Diana's face, that had even him a little afraid.
