Carlisle was temporarily distracted by her lips and he wrapped his arms tightly around her as she molded herself to his body. He knew this was what she wanted, but after a long day he gladly accepted the stall in lieu of having to worry about his baby girl spending an evening with some young bloke, no matter how shy Dora claimed the boy was. And to top it off she was having dinner with him tonight as well. Carlisle sighed into Amadora's hair. "I'm not ready for this Dora."

"I doubt either of us will truly ever be ready for this, my love. But we can't keep her under lock and key forever, she'll never learn if we don't give her a little room to spread her wings and fly. What we can do however, is make sure we are there to guide her and catch her if she falls. I'm sure it's hard enough for her to have us both here so nearby, and I'm sure her date must be fairly brave if he was able to ask her to the dance knowing you were her father." That gave her some respect in her eyes, that Peter had not let the fact that Adelaide's father was one of his professors stop him from asking her out.
"And they are still young, and we should have a little faith in how we raised our daughter to do what is right. It's not like we won't be nearby to keep an eye on her, but we don't want her to resent us either for being overly smothering. We can watch from a distance, and I'm sure you can talk to Peter Pettigrew before the dance... as long as you don't scare him too badly."
She winked at him and kissed him again to soften her words. Amadora's arms did not leave her husband though as she kept them happily wrapped around him. She loved Carlisle dearly, but she also knew that in some matters a woman's wisdom and instincts were the best approach.. especially where daughters were concerned.

Carlisle studied his wife's tender face as she spoke, taking in her every word. When she was finished he said, "Well how am I supposed to argue with that logic? Oh, my smart wife. You make it impossible for me to be a normal worried father." He lifted her up to him and kissed her.
As he pulled away he set her back on the ground, a mischievous gleam in his eye. "But I do think I will have a little chat with this Peter. Since you already approved it." He kissed her forehead then walked across the room, heading toward Clarissa's room. He pushed the door open and peaked inside. Clarissa was asleep. He turned back to his wife and added, "Don't even think about letting this one date." He smiled briefly and went in to wake her.

Amadora couldn't help but smile at her husband after he kissed her. He was her weakness, as well as her children and she knew that he knew it.
"Don't be to hard on the boy though," Dora said. "I know that he doesn't mean any harm." She laughed lightly at the thought of Carlisle talking to Peter. She knew that he was overprotective her their daughters but Adelaide was starting to get to were they should let her go out a little bit more.
A gentle smile was still on her face as Carlisle spoke of Clarissa. "We won't have to worry about her just yet. She's still at the stage were she thinks boys have cooties." Amadora stayed where she was as she watched two of her favorite people in the world.

Clarissa rubbed her eyes and smiled at the sight of him. Carlisle hugged his little girl. "Time to get up now sleepy head." He kissed her forehead then returned to the front room where Amadora waited for him.
"Dora, you underestimate me. I'm not going to be hard on the boy. But I do want to find out what he has going on in his head. He's older than her, you know. Older boys are trouble."
