Ryan left the common room all together while Rystain was dealing with Lani. Now that the animosity was gone in the room, he felt it right to give them their privacy.
He was surprised then when he saw Sam up ahead of him, and wondered why Lyra had gotten to if Sam hadn't found her yet.
"Are you looking for Lyra?" he called out to her.

She wanted to ignore him, she was mad with men all over the world, "Yes." she bit out shortly and proceeded then to ignore him while walking a bit faster down the hall.
How dare Rystain make her cry, how dare he be so stupid and unfeeling! Lyra was one of his best friends, she at least deserved to have some words of comfort from him, a show of apology. Damn him. Something! But no, he was in there comforting his little girlfriend now who was dumb to take him back in the first place. Take him back without making any promises, geeze were all women so blind?

"Don't be like that, Sam," he said, following her suddenly. "I wasn't the one involved in all of this." And he'd be damned if she was going to blame him for it.

"No. I won't slow down. I have to-" she turned around the corner quickly he had longer legs than her, and could easily catch up but she was trying to lose him, she had to do something, she just couldn't be around him, not when he was so confusing to begin with, and then on top of what she had just seen she was annoyed, mad as hell, and about to vent and she didn't want him to bear the brunt of that not when her showing displays of temper made him happy.

"Oh, for Merlin's sake," he said, rolling his eyes and picking up his own speed. He reached out for her and grabbed her hand, pulling her back to him.
"Don't be angry with me. *I* didn't do anything. I didn't even take sides!"

He pulled her back and she collided against his chest putting her hands up defensively. Her chin was lowered with her eyes and she didn't look up at him. "Let me go. I want to find Lyra." she said evenly, she was irrationally mad at him and she couldn't even explain why she didn't want to be around him, she couldn't handle him right now.

"Stop fighting me," he told her instead. "What the hell is wrong? I know you're upset for Lyra. I am too. So don't be mad at me, for it."
He did not let her go. She wasn't being fair, being angry wih him.

"I'm not angry with you." she said steadily, "But I will be if you don't let me go right now." she threatened. But she was angry with men, she was angry with Rystain, and now that Ryan was holding her she was angry with that too.
Her face was calm she in no way showed him how angry she was and perhaps that was a defining factor.
But she didn't really believe him when he said that he was sorry for Lyra maybe he was, maybe just a little but by tomorrow what was going to happen? Lyra would still be upset and sides would have to be taken she didn't expect for him to take Lyra's but it was going to choke her to sit around Rystain and Lani and make with the small talk when they were the cause of her friend's unhappiness.

"I want to make sure she's okay too," Dorian said. "I didn't know her terribly well. But I know Rystain and I know Lani, and I know how he tends to leave a trail of broken hearts. I'm sorry hers had to be one of them."
And now Sam was punishing Dorian for something stupid that Rystain had done.

He hadn't let her go and she was getting angry. She didn't want to be in his arms, she didn't want to get angry and pound on his chest for what Rystain had done to Lyra, she just wanted to go find her friend and to flush men down the toilet forever...what was so wrong about that?
"I think a guy is probably the last person she wants to talk to but I'll pass along the message that you're looking for her, so if you would kindly remove your hands from my person I'll find her and tell her that you want to see her."

Ryan, frustrated, let go of her arms. "Fine," he said, backing off a little ways.
"Fine," he repeated, and turned to go back down the hall.

Sam parted her lips when he let her go, she was surprised that he had and yet she shouldn'tve been, she kept asking him to. She opened her mouth wider to call out to him but her voice wouldn't let her, her pride wouldn't let her.
Stupid men. Stupid Rystain. Stupid Dorian. She was better off.
Sighing she too turned and began to look for Lyra again. She'd give herself a day to cool off, maybe she'd apologize to Ryan...maybe she'd stay away from him all together.
