Janice walked ahead towards the dance floor, knowing he'd follow and her hips were already swaying to the beat. Each step a tinkle from the bells could be heard and she seemed as if she was part of the music herself. And silently as he joined her and they began to dance to the quick beats, she began to weave an ancient magic of enchantment around the boy. Her hands went to hold his and her hips began to move in ways he'd likely never seen before. She twisted and turned, dipped and glided. She knew how to lead a dance and to entrance a man with her movements and a few barely audible whispered wandless spells that were taught to all gypsy witches. The term bewitched often originate from the feeling this boy would be emersed by. Her eyes intent with the music, her belly, hips, legs and torso all seeming to move independently of each other in a dance of enchantment as ancient as the gypsies.

Leland felt the small taps on his chest as Janice had found her mark. Turning to face the bar completely but still keeping her in his peripheral vision, he began to drink his firewhiskey in earnest. He always hated watching her seduce other men, he knew she threw a bit extra in the act just for him but it never made the process any easier. As Janice walked away he saw the man she was approaching, he looked like a poor sap who wouldn't know the first thing about satisfying a woman like Janice.
As her flirtation continued his vision stayed glued to her in the event of danger and his anger was barely reigned inside of him. When Janice took to the dance floor, his jaw dropped and he had to be mindful or his tongue would of followed. No matter how many times he saw her or danced with her it always amazed him how she seemed to be the music and not just listen to it. It wasn't until Leland met Janice that he knew you had to appreciate a woman who could use her hips for more than filling the space between their legs and body.

Jude had never seen, or felt, anything like her in his life. He was caught up in her movements, his body moving slowly but awkwardly along with her. She was like a whirlwind and he was swept along with her, helpless to control his mind or his body. For a brief moment, he wondered if she had confunded him somehow, but the thought vanished from his mind before he could even pursue the thought.

As the song changed her pace adjusted to the new beat, still swirling around him, still weaving her movements so that he would no longer feel awkward as they danced. She raised their hands up and drew close enough to almost touch before drawing away teasingly as her hips began an enticing shimmy as she moved his hands to set them just barely on her hips as her fingers deftly slid the ring from his finger and into one of the little pouches nestled around the top of her skirt. Then she raised his hands up again drawing close and then back out again in the same motion as before. Then she repeated the shimmy as she spun around him this time twirling in his arms and then weaving through the rest of the song. Her enchantments held and she saw his face begin to flush. As the song slowed she did as swell and then moved close before whispering, her breath not even touched by the two dances. She could dance all night and barely feel any breathlessness. She led him off of the dance floor and back to the bar. "Thank you for the dance Mr Dawson. I had a wonderful time." And with nothing more than a wink at the boy she swept out of the bar like the will-o-wisp that she was, a swirl of skirts and tinkling bells.

Jude stood in the middle of the dance floor motionless for a long time after she'd left him. He was overwhelmed and utterly speechless. Had he been enchanted? Confunded? His heart was racing and his head was spinning, but he somehow couldn't find the strength to move or even blink.
It wasn't until Madelyn, the bartender moved over to him and snapped her fingers in his face that he finally came around. He shook his head and stared blankly at Madelyn for a moment, then squeezed his eyes shut. "Who the hell was that woman?" he asked at last.

Maddie shrugged. "I don't know, but you looked like you were under a spell or something. Your eyes rolled back in your head for a minute there, and your body looked like it was moving without your knowledge. Come on, sit down and have some water or something. You look totally wigged out. And that's saying something, coming from me." She gave a little laugh and dragged him by the hand over to the bar.

Jude let out a long breath and followed Maddie to the bar. "Thanks, Maddie," he mumbled as he climbed awkwardly onto the bar stool. "I swear... I never felt anything like that before. It was like I was in love with her... but not. Does that make any sense at all?"

Maddie shrugged again. "Not really, no. Anyway, just sit tight, OK? I'll get you a mineral water with some lemon. I think your blood sugar might be low." She turned and disappeared into the back for a moment.

When she had gone, Jude buried his face in his hands. He felt like he was missing something, something he couldn't quite name, but he knew he should know. If only his head would stop spinning....

Leland had watched Janice walk out of the club with a small smile and then he turned his attention back to Jude. The poor guy would forget his trinket but Janice's gypsy tricks only worked for so long, Leland intended to make sure Jude doesn't even remember being here this night. Watching as the bartender spoke to him he carefully planned this next move, it would be a bit tricky but if done just right he could do it without being seen. As the next song started up and the crowd starting dancing, he slid down the bar to stand next to Jude.
"Tough break chap, letting a wily one like that get away." Scanning the general area to make sure no eyes were on them, in one breath he grabbed Jude around the neck drawing him in close in the next they disapparated and reappeared in the alley behind the club. "Sorry about this old fellow but I can't very well have you reporting this now can I?" Pushing Jude against the wall, Leland whipped out his wand and pointed it towards Jude's skull. "Obliviate!" As he felt his spell take effect, Leland began to erase any memory of Janice or himself and filled in the gaps with much drinking.
The moment the spell dropped Leland disapparated with a wink and a smile.

Jude blinked for a minute, feeling strangely dazed. Where was he? What was he doing? He rubbed his head, then looked around. He seemed to be in some kind of alley. Strange, he didn't remember going to an alley. He wasn't really the type to hang out in alleys, was he?
Shrugging, he walked out of the alley and headed home.
Now if only he could remember where he lived...

Maddie returned a few minutes later with the glass of mineral water, only to find Jude missing. "Huh," she said to the stuffed fish that hung on the wall. "That's weird. I wonder where he went."
Shrugging, she sat down on the little chair she kept behind the bar and began to sip from the glass of mineral water.

As soon as Janice left the bar she disapparated into the air. When she reappeared she smiled fingering the pocket she'd placed the ring in and waited for Leland to finish his job. She knew he would make sure there were no traces, though his methods varied depending on the situation. She knew he'd be less than gentle with the man tonight though, he always was rougher when she danced with another man like that on a job. It made it that much more fun to taunt him.
Of course she didn't use the enchantment spells on Leland, she never needed to. And she liked watching his reactions when she danced like that for him, it was much more entertaining. She also knew she'd have to make it up to him tonight and that made her smile more. Which is exactly what she was doing, smiling, when Leland apparated to her side.
