Sofie had just finished writing a letter to her father about school and what was going on, he insisted that she write everyday and she must have spent more time in the owlry than anyone. He had finally gotten used to the owl system even though there were usually bits of blood on his letters to her. Often enough because their family owl nipped if you forgot it's treat and her father often did.
But she had just got her letters this morning and had yet to open them until now, the common room was empty so far so she chose a spot to read what her family was doing enjoying the silence until someone came in the door.

Adele had just come from one of her classes and she was decidedly exhausted. She didn't feel much like going up to the dorms, however, and sighed, collapsing into one of the couches.
She glanced at Sophie, asilent apology in her eyes.
"Is it just me, or has it already been a long day?" And it was still only morning.

She noticed the girl's exhaustion and put a bookmark in her book, she might not have bothered rather and just acknowledged Adele with a nod and then gone back to what she was reading, but lately she had been craving social interaction and Adele seemed one of the safer housemates to interact with. The girl was nearly as solitary as Sofie was.
"You look tired...what class?" she asked

Adele looked up. "Oh. Arithmancy. But that wasn't the class that was tiring. I was up too late last night, I think."
She had been up late studying, and writing to her grandmother, wondering if the woman would even know she wrote.
"Do you have any classes next?"

Sofie shook her head no, "I like Arithmancy." she said, she hadn't been in the class today because she was visiting the nurse due to her headaches, " Did I miss anything important?" she inquired sitting up a bit more.

Adele shook her head. "No, not really. You can have my notes to copy if you like," she offered. They were Ravenclaws... notes were always lengthy and detailed, and a Ravenclaw coul learn anything from a set of notes.

If the ravenclaw hadn't already studied the chapter beforehand, but still being the ravenclaw she was she nodded "Thank you, that would be very nice." she smiled she wasn't used to doing that at school, well not towards other people, she mostly kept to herself and kept her nose in a book.

"Yeah, no problem," Adele said, unsure why she was so tired. "You didn't really miss much, though. It was all in Chapter 5."
"You're Sophia, right?" She asked. "Sometimes I think it's amazing how we can not know someone in this school, much less our own house."

"It's not as uncommon in this house...um...well I mean...I don't mean...I mean if you have friends..." she stammered a bit hoping not the offensive, " Well...what I mean to say is that I'm...fairly...into my books rather...I don't quite know the ins and outs of social...um...behavior..." why was that so hard to say?
"Anyhow...I think a lot of...us...like...books or...maybe it's just me...I just...find books easier to consult than people. And then I get caught on a topic and I can't quite stop talking about it, though I'm fairly sure most people thing that it's boring...and oh Godric I'm doing it again, I'm so sorry."

Adele almost laughed, finding the whole thing kind of endearing actually.
"Don't apologize. I think most of Ravenclaw is anti social. But they don't put that in the sorting hat song, do they?" She shrugged. Imagine if the hat told the truth about all them... Gryffindor, where the tactless have no discretion, Ravenclaw, the anti social nerds, Hufflepuff the pansies, and Slytherin, where the bastards plot your downfall. Now that would be a sorting to see.

Sofie smiled a bit relieved, " No. Not really. Although...I'm probably the worst offender so I have no real room to talk..." she thought it strange too that she had been in the house for five years but hadn't really met any of her housemates.
She smiled vastly and it changed her whole face into something young fresh and adorable.

Apollo had just come back from Arithmancy as well, though he had stayed behind to chat for a bit with a couple of his friends. Upon entering the common room, he recognized Adele, though he had never really spoken with her. The other girl he didn't know at all. Well, what could you expect from a house full of bookworms?
"Hello, ladies," he said, greeting them since he was passing through anyway.

Sophia glanced upwards when she was addressed and she nodded at the stranger. Sighing a bit inwardly that everywhere she turned there seemed to be strangers, and yet she had attended hogwarts for years. She gave him a tentative smile, but turned her head towards Adele, thinking that the other girl probably knew him.

Adele glanced up as well, looking at the boy from her Arithmancy class. She didn't know him well at all, but he looked eager to talk, and her own conversational skills were running low.
"Sophie, maybe you could ask Apollo what you missed in class. He may have more energy to tell you."

Him? But...but he was a boy...
Sophie's face reddened a bit, still she couldn't ask Adele to stay all things considered that might be misconstrued as rude, "Well...I don't want to impose..." she began.

Apollo looked between them, raising an eyebrow.
"What's going on?"
He seemed to have been suddenly thrown into the middle of something about class that he was unaware of.

"I um...miss class today...arithmancy..." she clarified certain that the boy in all likelihood had no clue who she was. "Adele was going to fill me in on the blanks." she answered, "But she's tired so she suggested that you could help, but of course I wouldn't dream of imposing on you like that."

"I'm a Ravenclaw... since when is chatting about studies an imposition?" He asked, glancing towards Adele.
"I'd be happy to help you out. I have a free period next, anyway, so if you're free...?"
He knew Adele well enough (and no one knew her well at all) to know that she'd rather be alone that helping someone with homework. She was a nice girl, there was just a social aspect of things that she didn't do so well with.

Sophie wasn't Suzie Q when it came to social affairs either, she was often uncomfortable since she didn't know how to say things the right way...if she said things the right way, or if she ever got her point across without talking a person's ear off.
She nodded however, wanting...needing to take a chance. "I'm free next period."

Adele smiled, almost as if she were playing matchmaker, which she really wasn't.
"Well, good. I have to run and get started on a paper, so..." She trailed off, not so good at her social skills. "I'll see you both in class next week, then, I guess."
