*Yeah... OK, I couldn't resist.*
Immediately after leaving Andromeda's apartment, she marched down the hall and into the lift. She had spotted the name of a Mr. Tonks downstairs on the apartment listings and knew that the mudblood who broke her wretched daughter's heart living just two floors above her. There was no doubt she would have to pay a visit to this charming, if utterly inappropriate rogue.
She took the lift up to the fourth floor, then knocked on the door of Apartment 405. This was going to be interesting.

Ted had been doing the dishes, finally deciding it was time to clean his apartment and stop wallowing. Losing Andi had been his own fault.
When he heard the knock, he figured it wa either Angelique, or another of Andi's protective cousins, and he wasn't really in the mood for either. However, he turned off the water and dried his hands, opening the door.
He wasn't quite sure what to do with the woman he saw there, but he knew it would be entirely too dangerous to make her stand in the hall. Still, he stood frozen.

Druella looked at him for a moment, sizing him up. By Salazar, he was certainly beautiful. She could see the appeal he must have held for her foolish daughter. "Aren't you going to invite me in?" she said sharply. "Just because you are a mudblood, I would hope that wouldn't make you a complete savage. Do you have any idea who I am?"

"I know exactly who you are, Mrs. Black," Ted said gently. It was probably best not to make her any angrier than he was certain she already was.
"Please, come in," he said, opening the door wider and standing to the side to let yet another enemy into his home. "Can I make you some tea?"

"Hm, well... smarter than you look, I see," Druella said dryly. She breezed past him with her brisk walk. "And better manners than my daughter. I suppose it's true, then, that opposites attract."
She moved to the sofa and sat down without being invited. "No, thank you, I think I'll pass on the tea. I highly doubt you are capable of making a proper cup of tea. You can't even keep a decent apartment." She looked around at his lack of decor with disdain.
"Sit down, boy. I wish to look you in the face when I speak to you."

Well, at least she wasn't screaming and hexing him yet, though he could hardly count the number of small insults she threw into her words. He let them pass, however, and closed his door.
Coming further into the leaving room area, he half considered offering her firewhiskey, but decided against it, and he sat in the chair next to the couch, facing her as she had requested. "What can I do for you?"

"Do? For me?" Druella said, laughing coldly. "Nothing. I want nothing from you. But I wanted to thank you for breaking up with my daughter. I don't care what your reasons are... but I am grateful. You would have ruined her, even more than she is already ruined. I can't have that. I also need to make sure you won't go getting second thoughts and try to get back together with her. She's weak... she may just take you back, and be ruined forever."

Somehow, that hurt worse than t would have if she had Crucio'd him.
He threaded his fingers together. "Mrs. Black... I broke up with her so that she would stay with your family. And yes, I probably would have ruined her. But she's not ruined yet... nor has she ever been. Your daughter is perfect and beautiful, and I wish you knew that."
He sighed and wanted to lean back, but he stayed sitting straight, and met her eyes. "I did it for her, though. Not for you."

Druella listened to him speak, a disgusted look on her face. "Oh, for Salazar's sake," she said. "You're still in love with her, aren't you?" She sighed heavily. "You broke up with her, out of some twisted act of honor? That's honestly the most nauseating thing I've ever heard of."
She rose from her seat and walked over to him, a dark gleam in her eyes. "Yes... I certainly see what she saw in you. You... are the most beautiful man I've ever seen." She paused and looked at him, unadulterated lust in her eyes. "But you could have any woman you want. And if it's not the prestige of marrying a Black, I don't see why you would choose Andromeda. She may be a Black, but she always was a pale, plain little thing, compared to her perfect sisters. Did she throw herself at you, begging for every little scrap of affection she could get?"

"I persued her," Ted replied, standing up to meet her. He didn't want her having too much higher ground on him. "If anyone begged, it was me. She was too beautiful, too talented, too smart to not go after her," as he continued, his voice got a little stronger. He was good at defending her. Hell, he was good at loving her, just not quite how he showed it.
"Look, she's yours again. I let her go. But you need to realize the person that she is... or you don't deserve her, as nauseating as you may find it."

Druella laughed joylessly. "Defending her honor... how bloody noble. You're just a regular prince charming, aren't you? If Prince Charming came from the wrong side of the tracks, that is."
She scowled and turned away. This was not as she had hoped... the boy was still in love with her, and Andromeda was clearly still in love with him, even if she hadn't said it. She knew her daughter well enough to read between the lines. It was a lucky thing Rabastan was a lovely specimen as well; surely he could tempt her away. Druella would have to hope that Bellatrix would provide the proper nudging in the right direction. In the meantime, sowing a few more seeds of doubt in the mudblood's mind certainly couldn't hurt.
"It's a pity she didn't love you the way you so obviously love her. If she did, of course, she would never have been so ready to believe the lie that you were cheating on her. And she wouldn't be so willing to move on to another. She's getting married, you know. To Rabastan Lestrange."

"So I've heard," Ted replied, his voice low and his jaw set. "I'm sure it will be a wedding to make the papers. A grand event and all."
Why was she still here? He wanted to tell her to leave, but he was slightly afraid to. This woman was ridiculously intimidating, and he didn't want to push any wrong buttons. "But I don't see why you felt the need to deliver that news personally."

Druella smiled nastily. "Oh, that's not what I came here for," she said. "Seeing your reaction is a nice little side benefit, but it's certainly not the reason I came."
She walked a little closer to him. "I came for two reasons. One is simply to get a look at the man my daughter came so close to ruining her life for. That picture in the Prophet hardly does you justice." She smirked at him; one thing she could say for Andromeda was that she had exquisite taste. First Rabastan, now Tonks...
"The other reason I cam," she added grandly, the smile falling from her face, "is to warn you to stay away from Andromeda. I can't have you getting second thought and deciding you want her back. She's a foolish girl, and I can't take the risk that you might convince her to throw away her last chance to save her reputation. I am, of course, prepared to offer you... compensation."

"Compensation?" He repeated, disbelief in his voice. How horrible was this woman?
He shook his head. "Please, whatever it is, keep it. I don't want anything to do with it."
He was unnerved with the way she looked at him, and the words that should have been compliments made him uneasy.
"I just... I'll stay away from her," he promised, nodding. "Just let her be happy."

Druella smiled coldly. "Good. See that you do." She gave him one more once-over, scanning him from head to toe as if she was sizing up her next meal. "Such a pity... I never knew mudbloods could be so delicious. But I'm sure you'll move on and find some dim-witted blonde. Have a wonderful life... I know Andromeda will."
And with that, she tossed her hair over her shoulder and walked out, leaving behind a gush of cold air in her wake. She slammed the door behind her, then paused to smile wickedly for a brief moment before walking briskly to the elevator.

Ted was still for a minute after she had gone, her parting words like a suckerpunch to the gut.
But if Andi was going to have a wonderful life... he wanted that for her.
He abandoned trying to clean any more, and went straight for the bottle of firewhiskey.
